The other issue with him is that there's like two jobs that he would actually take that would have him in the next few years. PSG and Portugal (and maybe some other nations too). Chelsea & Madrid get weird sometimes if things aren't going great, so I guess you shouldn't rule them out completely.

Man U holding their nose and giving him essentially a blank check will keep him there longer than usual because they were in a pretty desperate situation by their standards, and he has them back in the CL spots.

So, where does Conte land? Anywhere expected or rumored?

I think he will take some time off.

I definitely could see him at Bayern or Real Madrid next season, as I don't think either Kovac or Lopetegui will last long. Lopetegui might not even last the full season, he is really not a very good coach.

Other than that, not too many clubs are a good fit for him. Maybe Atletico if Simeone ever left. Inter would be a good fit as well, but I'm not sure how that would go down with him being both a Juve player and manager.

I could also see one of OL/OM taking a shot at him, with Neymar in the league and the profile getting bigger maybe one of those two takes a chance and tries to make a jump up.

He should take some time off and wait until Mancini gets canned by Italy and go back there. His style is the antithesis of Italian national footy.

I don't think Real would take him but they did take Mou so who knows. Like Bret said, Chelsea and Real do some strange things when they get desperate. If he went to Bayern and they thought Pep was a task master just wait until Conte gets there.

Sounds like Thierry Henry is set to become the manager of Aston Villa.

                That wouldn't be a good appointment I don't think.

He's a great manager, but part of his success at Real Madrid was that he and Perez were always on the same page. He won't get that at United.

Which really begs the question. What is exactly the plan at United? It seems like they're basically saying that they've given him enough money in transfers and salary since he's arrived. Which they probably have.

I mean if they give Mourinho some time he could probably turn it around - it's only 3 matches. But he really seems to be losing the confidence of the players. It doesn't help when the biggest name on the team just won the World Cup, has Raiola as his agent, and both are popping off in the media. United's problems aren't all Mourinho's making.

Really, only a few of United's problems are Jose's fault.

That club has no plan for anything right now. They are big and they are rich and beyond that they don't seem to have anything worked out.

They have spent a lot for Jose but like half the players they bought he didn't even want. It's shades of Liverpool and that comical transfer committee or whatever it was called.

Like I said, if you hire Jose then you need to be committed to spending a bunch of money on specific players of his choosing. If you do that, he will win you trophies. If you don't do that, he will probably still win you trophies but not the ones you want.

Jose isn't perfect, but the United upper management needs to take way more blame than they are being given.

Mourinho create(d) success and destroys it. As a coach, nobody can underestimate what he has created. His personality makes him ruin everything when he is not successful, his arrogant self-understanding is not built for defeat, therefore he is not inconvenient as a coach.
United problem is not really him, but their legacy after Ferguson. He got the job he had wanted for many years (He got the job because of his friendship with Ferguson), but he did not get the support he thought he would get. Viewed from the outside, both parties are guilty of where they stand. Had United just used a little intelligence and, not least, had they seen the script on the wall the day he was fired in Chelsea. It was the season in which I lost all respect for him, the way he used a doctor (Among other things) to relinquish for lack of success. The house of cards is about to tip over, and his confidence is gone, actually so bad that it almost too sorry for him. He should have taken a long break after Chelsea. He gets fired in United, the question is only when?.
