Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread
If Bruce goes to Newcastle it will be important to have perspective.
The usual waffle of young managers not being given a shot will bubble up, and on the surface, it will seem true. However, everyone knows what an awful job Newcastle is right now until ownership changes. I wouldn't be surprised if several young managers looking for their big shot would not take it if it was offered. Second, Ashley is a complete moron when it comes to running that club so he'll have no foresight, no future thinking in mind. He'll go for a name and someone he thinks can grab a 17th-place finish.
Nobody but recycled English journeyman should be taking that job as of now, as they're best fit to meet the demands (just keep us up, mate), so we shouldn't be surprised when that's what happens.Comment

Just to add to this, Rafa said this in a blog post he made about his arrival in China:
"I've had more meetings with the chairman, the president and the general manager this week in China than in three years at Newcastle. "
That says a lot about the Newcastle setup. I'm sure many managers wouldn't even consider this job after the way they treated Rafa and the things he as been saying about the club.

Basically, if you have nothing to lose, welcome to Newcastle.Comment
