Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread

PSG chose to build their team around the most selfish, petulant and immature star player in Europe and they are already having squad harmony problems, barely just mid-September.

    What a shocker.

      From Messi's shadow to Cavani's.

Seeing them fighting over PKs was funny but we all know who's gonna win the staying battle.

It's a shame too because Cavani is the perfect fit for Neymar and he's been on a tear since last year. That header he had against Celtic was just nasty.

          Really sucks for Cavani too.

Waited out Zlatan and finally got to play his regular position, has an amazing season and his reward is having to deal with that petulant douchebag and likely being shipped off next summer.

A lot of people will automatically take sides with Neymar, not saying anyone was right or wrong here but I don't like what Dani Alves did the second time with the ball. Granted I am not sure what was said between the two but Cavani is a veteran on that team and has been there the longest between the two, I feel like they could have handled that a lot better.

It's a weird situation. I would say these days skill and status take precedent over tenure. Cavani is not the star or the best player on that team. Just let Neymar have it.

The issue with the penalty, however, is that it's very like Cavani is the designated penalty taker set by Emery.

Honestly don't think many people are siding with Neymar. He has always been a complete D-bag, it's just there are a lot of Barca fans in the world so you didn't really get an accurate view of how many people dislike him. Now he is at a team everyone hates, so less people (Barca fans) are defending him.

Also, Dani Alves has ALWAYS been a douche of the highest order.

Even Brazilians, quite a lot of them, don't really Alves and Neymar.

Not really. Just because Neymar is the star player shouldn't mean he gets to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants (sadly, it seems pretty clear that PSG are going to let him do just that).

The other thing is, Neymar is a brilliant player, but penalties are legitimately one of his few weaknesses. Cavani is not only the designated penalty taker for PSG, but he is also objectively better than Neymar. Free kicks are a bit more of a grey area but again, Neymar isn't known for his amazing free kicks. He can take them, and he has scored some, but so has Cavani.

The easiest solution seems to be just having Neymar on FKs and Cavani on PKs. Think Emery might be a bit in over his head though.

Emery said she hat both of them are their designated penalty takers and they have to come to a gentlemen's agreement.

Sounds like an easy copout but it's probably the right move. With all the Brazilians there I'm sure Neymar has just as much pull than Cavani. Didn't help that Cavani missed the PK.

Koln is protesting Dortmund's victory this weekend due to the VAR. Unlikely to happen, but they're asking for a full replay of the match due to the incident.

Definitely agree it's a copout, but I disagree it's the right move.

Cavani was already the designated PK taker, and is objectively better than Neymar in that category. He has seniority and has been a loyal servant to the club, he should be rewarded for that.

I understand building a team around Neymar because he is a brilliant player, but giving a guy like that all the power to do whatever he wants is a mistake that the team will ultimately pay for.

It's pretty clear by the multiple PK and FK incidents that Neymar moved to PSG so he could pad his stats. Maybe he thinks that if he scores a bunch of goals people will overlook the fact that it's not even a top 4 league and give him all that individual attention he craves, along with a Ballon d'Or.

Seniority gets thrown out the door when your club spends a quarter billion on a player . I agree it's not right. Cavani put in his time, is a better PK taker, and killed once he got to play centrally but you're paying Neymar to be the man so it's understandable that he wants everything.

Maybe he did go there to pad his stats but I still believe they give him the best chance at a UCL title and if he wants to be the man there so be it.

PSG has always been a team of mercenaries since their new ownership took over. They just so happened to land the biggest one.

Yeah, because that one VAR decision really swayed the result of the game. If they do play again, Dortmund will most likely win 6-0 instead of 5-0.

Not to mention, the VAR decision of the handball was amazing. It's crazy that in the past a blatant handball in the box would've been missed.
