I actually really like it. Does if suck for the players and the extra games? Absolutely but for the fans it’s a big club matchup every night.

So far we got two Finals rematches on the first two nights with Arsenal-Atalanta tomorrow. No more dead rubber games like you’d get with those clubs that wrapped up their group early.

My only thing is: how are they deciding which teams play which? And home/away? The group thing was 1000% old and repetitive, but at least that felt pretty straight forward.

4 9-team pots then 4 draw groups. You play 2 from each pot including your own, one home one away. Can’t play someone from your league and max of 2 from a country.

They drew a ball for each draw group manually then a computer did the rest. Doing all the permutations manually on stage would have been a mess if not impossible I would think.

Boycotting the Ballon d'Or is pretty ridiculous. They're an easy team to hate.
