I’ll give you the Kane > Lewa shout although Kane HAS to win the CL with Bayern to cement that but the Mbappe call???? Naaa Brahv

For Club & Country since 18…should have 2 World Cups if not for Dembele completely stinking the joint out (seriously one of the worst performances of all time in a big game by a player as talented as him).

I think when it’s all said and done Mbappe will have eclipsed Henry’s legacy and I consider Thierry to be the best Premier League player ever.

Team trophies imo are not a good enough indictment of how good a player is.

Mbappe is amazing but he also plays for one of the most stacked national teams EVER. The French team he’s played for, minus Mbappe, is still STREETS ahead of any version of England Kane has played for.

Their actual play though, Kane is simply more well rounded. Mbappe is about as far off Kane’s hold up play, passing and vision as Kane is off Mbappe’s speed.

This shouldn’t even be arguable, Kane is legit one of the best 10s out there. So are we saying Mbappe’s speed and dribbling are worth more than Kane’s passing? Because as goalscorers they are pretty much the same.

Though, again, Mbappe plays in a worse league in the most stacked team compared to Kane’s time at Spurs.

I just don’t think Kane will ever really get the credit he deserves. Players like Mbappe will always hold the public’s attention because they are fast and flashy. He’s still quite obviously one of the best players in the world, and def has a chance to be one of the best national team players ever, but I just refuse to believe Mbappe is a better player than Kane just because he’s faster. His passing is absolutely nowhere near Kane’s, I can’t think of another striker that can consistently pass the ball as well as he can.

Anyone who is French is going to play on a stacked National team but you can’t dismiss the fact that he nearly had two WCs by 25. Not some passenger thing either, the main man, something Henry never was for France.

Kane is a better passer in terms of range of passing …I’ll give you that but people give Mbappe enough credit for how technically gifted he is and he’s got more assists in a shorter career. Just yesterday he scored a ridiculous goal. Sure France is a weak league but let’s be honest about the Bundesliga (since he’s going to break Lewa’s record), it’s a highly overrated and wide open league that favors attackers.

Look at Mbappe’s #’s in the CL, 43 goals & 26 assists in 67 games, 25 & 8 in 38 for Kane (nothing to sneeze at either). Don’t even get me started on performances in big matches. I think Kane has 3 goals in 13 semi-final/finals.

It’s crazy because I think Kane is the best #9 in the world but I think Mbappe is the best player in the world.

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread

It’s not just range of passing though, Kane is just a better passer through and through.

Getting more assists doesn’t mean Mbappe is a better passer either. Mbappe plays in better teams he’s obviously going to have higher numbers. Mbappe is a Ronaldo, he’s not a Messi, lot of his assists come from crosses etc. I mean last few seasons his assist numbers have been the same as Haaland, who I’m sure you don’t rate as an amazing passer.

And yeah the bundesliga is pretty open but it’s still comfortably better than ligue 1 and always has been. PSG is so much further ahead of the rest of that league than Bayern is in Germany. Just look at the number of French teams besides PSG that do anything in Europe compared to the German teams, it’s not even close.

Let’s not forget Ligue 1 couldnt even have players compete in the European golden ball race because they didn’t have the same coefficient for goals. And they were awarded that coefficient NOT based on merit, but simply because of PSG’s owner.

Mbappe is easily one of the best players in the world and a generational talent, but it’s disingenuous to compare numbers he puts up in THAT league on THAT team with someone in the one of the actual top leagues.

Yeah that’s why I posted his stats in the UCL Brahv, to show that when they’re playing against the best of the best, Mbappe still puts up ridiculous #’s only bested by Messi & CR7.

I agree about Kane being a better range of passer, it’s like Lamps vs Gerrard in that aspect. Lampard had more assists but Gerrard was the better passer. Still though, put some respect on Son’s name.

I don’t and won’t put any respect on those German teams, not even Dortmund. The absolute most garbage Chelsea team that finished bottom half of the table dominated their runners-up who bottled the league. To add to that, Lyon has made it further in the UCL than Dortmund has since they lost to Bayern in the final when Klopp was there.

I only saw old broke knee Shearer but even ppl I respect say Kane is a far more complete player so it’s not like I don’t rate him. I just think Mbappe is an alien.

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread

I agree with most of that, but even in UCL Mbappe has never really played in a team like Spurs.

That Monaco team had some absolutely wild talent and blazed through that season on a dream run, none of the Spurs teams have ever been that exciting bar maybe the current one lmao.

Mbappe is a generational talent, I just think Kane is as well. IMO they’ve both been on the same level, I just rate Kane a bit higher.

I can see a similar convo about Mbappe and Haaland too. They both play the same role, put up the same numbers, though Haaland had more goals AND assists than Mbappe last season, and most people would say Mbappe is comfortably better because he’s flashier and can dribble.

I guess I just get hung up on people comparing Mbappe to Messi, which he categorically is not and never will be.

He’s a Ronaldo. A goalscorer with speed and dribbling skill, he’s technically gifted and has the ability to playmake, but he is a goal machine and that’s always his main objective.

Didn’t even really touch on his off-ball contributions, but he essentially plays like Messi where he provides zero help off the ball so he can conserve his energy for attacking, but without any of the playmaking ability of Messi.

I’d love to see Mbappe in a team that forces him to play a team game, rather than PSG where the entire club revolves around him.

Lille won a French Cup game 12-0. The team they were playing is from Martinique and flew from the Caribbean just to get beat down.
