That guy is lucky he didn't just get his leg snapped in half, what a crazy challenge.

Brad Guzan would have only seen yellow if he had that same ref against Alajuelense.

Just saw a few days ago that the Argentine cup is streaming on Paramount+.

Pretty awesome. I wonder if the league season will be on there as well?

They are! Just saw they're doing so through 2024.

It's been inevitable, but it'll be very odd not seeing them in the top division next season. It's still weird with Hamburg in the second division.

Yeah. I was in the camp about mid season though that they would probably turn it around. I'm not shocked they didn't. But like you said, its been 33 years so them not being there next year will be odd.

I'm also very excited to see Union Berlin still with a shot at making the Europa League next season.

It looks like Hamburg is gonna have another a late season collapse and keep them down.

As far as Schalke is concerned, they've been having issues for awhile. That 2nd place finish a few season ago was masking the issues. Here is a short list:

                1. Their academy is going through a rough period with graduating first team talent. As such, they invested hundreds of millions of dollars into building a new one.
                2. Rather than sign cheap young players from outside the Bundesliga, they instead paid a premium for prime aged mediocre players from Bundesliga teams. Bundesliga talent is notoriously expensive.
                3. They've let way too many talented players leave on free transfers. How you let a 22 or 23 yo. Leon Goretzka leave on a free is beyond my ***.
                4. With a team full of mediocre overpaid players, they've become bloated and, well, mediocre. As such, they've hired a fired a lot of coaches recently, which is expensive.
                5. They've only qualified for Europe once the past 5 seasons. The previous 15 seasons, they only missed out on qualification once (and that season they were 8th). It was about 50/50 EL/CL. What was basically guaranteed revenue is now gone.
                6. Normally Schalke makes enough money to push through this. However, when the pandemic hit all of this was laid bare. Heading into this season, a team that badly needed upgrading could only muster a few frees (remember when Huntelaar was good? I member!) and a few players on loan due to all of these money issues. Union Berlin, a team with only a fraction of Schalke's yearly revenue, spent more than Schalke in the transfer window.

Hopefully they right the ship in Bundesliga 2, as the Bundesliga is a lot more interesting when Schalke is thriving.

Apparently, no one is really interested in winning La Liga this season

Barcelona missed a chance to go top by losing to Granada today.

Four teams now within three points of first place.

Huge match today in Serie A between Juve & Milan. Both on 69pts.

Real Madrid can go top of La Liga with a win over Sevilla since Atletico and Barca drew yesterday

Juve completely sh** the bed vs Milan. They might not admit it but hiring Pirlo who never managed a game in his life to help a side that’s supposed to get over the hump in Europe was a huge mistake. 35 different lineups this year, can’t stick with a system, and just a huge cluster overall.
