The competition has had several different forms over the years. This is just another format, and it ends up being pretty close to the current full competition in the end. There is no asterisk on whoever wins this in my eyes.

Like if City win it, they will have had to go through Real Madrid, Chelsea(or Bayern if they pull off a miracle I guess), and almost certainly one of Atletico or PSG.

How can you say someone doesn't deserve to be called Champions of Europe after that?

I only said it because City fans were saying the same about the premier league a couple of months ago. I don’t actually believe that. If we were still in it (thanks Adrian) I wouldn’t mention it.
