    2019-20 UEFA Competitions Thread

Starting out with something for our Liverpool contingent, the new UEFA Intro:

Also, AC Milan have accepted a ban from UEFA, therefore Roma will automatically go to the group stage, with Torino replacing Milan.

Couple of eyebrow raisers today. Celtic and Porto are both out of the CL after losing the 2nd leg at home.

Celtic to CFR Cluj and Porto to Krasnodar.

I honestly hope we play the kids 100% and are eliminated whenever.

I'm so envious of Milan—the damn bald fraud goes there and gets them out of the **** tournament, what the hell.

Why would you not wanna take it serious knowing that the race for Top 4 is going to be tight again AND winning it would automatically qualify for your Tier 1 status next year?

I would think that Arsenal fans would want to win any European Trophy since the two that they have won don't even exist any more.

I mean, we definitely care more about winning league games and re-establishing ourselves as a Top 4 club than we care about European Trophies. We're also not really at a status to care much about European Trophies as we continue to transition. I can't say replacing defunct European Trophies is even close to my radar.

Because I think we have a better shot at fourth than we do at trying to win it and trying to place high in the league. To me, right now our squad is not big enough to try seriously for both.

Do I want us to go for it if we make it to the later stages? Yes, but I think we should play the group stages with few starters as possible, and continuing that into the first few stages of the knockout rounds.

I view it this way—the race for the top four will once again be so tight, that we can't risk going all out for both. We did fairly well in league games last year directly following Europa League games, but I don't want to risk it again with our current squad.

I care far more about the league right now, and have for many years. When we were in the Champions League, I would've always preferred a league title. If we're in the Champions League next year, I'd still prefer a league title.

I want to see that first before we move onto European success. Can both happen? Yeah, but if it could be, I'd take the league.

But you guys made it to the Final last year with a squad that wasn’t as deep.

I can understand prioritizing the league but the Europa group stage matches are only tough because of travel.

With the amount of money at the disposal for English clubs in Europe there should be no excuses (apart from severe injury crisis’) for lack of squad depth, Chelsea obviously included.
