Man it's 530am here and I still can't believe that Pep, in a single leg tie, trotted out a 3-5-2 to start the match, with basically 3 creative players. You expect that sort of thing from a Mourinho, Conte, Allegro, Someone, but a "don't concede" approach from Pep's Man City is just wildin me out.

At “home” too.
Side note: I’ve found CBS All Access very stable. Quality has been good. My only complaint is that when watching on my phone, the scoreboard gets cut off.

Yeah no complaints over here too. Really love Carra and Micah Richards in the studio too. Seeing Carra take shots at players/managers is refreshing.Comment

Brilliant play by Karl Toko Ekambi on Lyon's second goal not to touch the ball. I thought for sure he touched it and VAR would overturn the goal for offside, and then I watched in disbelief as the the close-up replay shows him deliberately not touching it. Well done.Last edited by bhurst99; 08-16-2020, 10:44 AM.Comment

Sevilla vs Manchester United. Strongly in camp neither over here.Comment

Re: 2019-20 UEFA Competitions Thread
City actually have a legitimate complaint that he was still interfering with play, and we’ve seen that type of thing get called offside in the past, but he also didn’t touch the ball. A very hard call that really ends up seeming pretty subjective, since I think that either decision would be correct.
If they call that offside I think that’s a different game.Comment

For me that was the biggest call in the match.

I think that was 100% offsides. He dummies it which is a play on the ball. If he “leaves” it than the ball hits him and he’s judged offside. That’s it even accounting for the foul on Laporte in the build up.
Def a gray area though.

Is a dummy a play on the ball? I never knew that.

Pep's immediate reaction from the bench is pretty convincing that he knew it was going to stand.Comment

I'm not so sure about that. He doesn't interfere with play, he doesn't gain an advantage from being in an offside position and he doesn't interfere with an opponent. I could be convinced otherwise but offsides there would be a really harsh call.

It would have definitely been harsh but when you dummy it you’re intentionally trying to deceive your opponent by giving the appearance that you’re going to play the ball.
Def a gray area but I think everyone knows that VAR is a coin-flip these days.

Re: 2019-20 UEFA Competitions Thread
Yeah that’s my initial thought as well, that he’s offside and intentionally dummies the ball. The defenders all sort of stopped, though that’s on them since there was no whistle.
Definitely a big grey area though.Comment
