Consensus seems to be that it was due to the tackle + dissent, although instead of two yellows he just upgraded it straight to a red?

That’s 100% the ref’s feelings being hurt because he ignored him.

Players disrespecting refs is a huge pet peeve of mine, but this is just a ref in his own feelings. If he truly intended on giving him yellows for the different incidents then he’d have showed yellow twice, but instead he just gave straight red.

Really poor call imo, even if Atletico are insufferable.

EDIT - Group is won. I wouldn’t be opposed to throwing the last two to send Atleti to the Europa League

This Marseille - Lazio game has been entertaining.

Watching on the Golazo! Show which I love that’s it’s the Red Zone Channel equivalent for Champions and Europa League.

I get that he does need to adapt to an extent, but it was hilarious to hear that being said and people expecting it to happen without him getting consistent minutes.
