Will probably just catch matches when I can and see who I gravitate towards.

I've been an on-off MLS fan since Beckham came over. DC United is my club but they haven't been giving me reasons to follow lately lol.

I even went and picked up FM2023 recently. My interest in the NFL has absolutely plummeted so maybe soccer can fill that void.

Aside from time zone differences the biggest obstacle for me fully embracing top level club soccer is the mercenary transfer market. Even in the American sports leagues I prefer homegrown talent and that organic team building. I don't like how the NBA has tilted more towards buying superstars for example. I understand why people clown on our MLS but the one thing I do love about it is the relative parity it has. No matter the sport I'm just not a fan of disparate levels of funds and some teams just drastically outspending over the competition. EPL is better than France where it just seems like 90% of PSG games should be no contest.

I thought about adopting a team in the English Football League Championship for this reason.
If you have ESPN+ you can also try following along with the Bundesliga over in Germany or La Liga in Spain. I don't have Paramount Plus but the have Serie A games over in Italy.

As for who to follow I'd just go to the wiki pages and read about the clubs. Get a sense of their history and then watch them even if the team is horrible. You also might latch on to a player you enjoy and in turn decide to support the team.

In the EPL I bounce between rooting for Crystal Palace and Newcastle (yes before the takeover) In Germany like St. Pauli, did a CM with them and been a fan ever since but they're in the second division. Over in Serie A, it's all Fiorentina, no real reason just cause lol, Spain I just root for anyone outside the big 3.

Overall I just like the sport in general and the fact you can find quality games all year round from all around the world and it's just so much variety and passion.

Been blessed to see Messi multiple times at Barca and PSG, over the moon happy he's cemented his legacy.
I know he’ll be in MLS soon so I’ll definitely plan on seeing him in person when his team stops in Atlanta.

OT: Is FM that good? Heard folks here talk it up and have been curious about since I’ve wanted another Soccer game option behind FIFA.

Messi is destined to be the next Pele.

And by that I mean in 50 years when you ask a random American about soccer that will be the only reference they know lol.

I have both ESPN+ and Paramount+. The later has more offerings, but only one of the major leagues (Serie A like you mentioned). Paramount+ also offers UEFA Champions League and Europa League, SPFL, Brasileirao, AFA LPF, and some women's leagues.

For those wanting to continue their soccer journey without getting too involved in a single league, I highly recommend doing a Paramount+ trial in mid-February to watch the beginning of the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League.

I love FM, and it's basically one of the only video games I play these days. It is a spreadsheet game though, so while it is deep and immersive, you play as the manager, not as the players.

I was sold on it when someone explained it to me as NFL Head Coach 09 but for soccer.

So its very much a niche game, but if someone is a fan of that niche its amazing but its not for everyone.

Those are two clubs that caught my eye because they seem like overachievers. Is that not accurate?

Emiliano Martinez is terrible for the game. His antics are sometimes comical, but other times downright ridiculous. Also, this happened in the locker room: https://www.sportbible.com/football/...04321-20221218

How do you troll someone who scored a hat trick against you? Winning or not, I'm not sure how you single out an individual that dominated you personally.

He just won a World Cup I see no issue. Keepers are a bit insane.

                          Look up Jens Lehman.

Emiliano Martinez is everything I love about the game, the personality, the ****housery, the game is nothing without their mastermind villians, and to many that will be Emi. Without the passion, there's no reason to play the game imo.

Also why I love it lmao, man can't help himself but talk **** all the time. I get that's why people hate him, and if he wasn't an Arsenal lad, I might even have slightly different opinions on him, but if you don't want him to act this way, don't let him win.
