3 assists for Trossard. What a great signing!

Conte trying desperately to get his sacking payout with his post-match comments.

I’ve never had a hard time laughing at Spurs, but man nah.

Something has to be done about the current state of refereeing in this league. This is beyond a joke.

This is Howard jumping I to his new role early to make things better. I have no hope.

Honestly I don't have any either atm.

Every weekend at this point there are a new series of decisions that somehow are way worse than the previous week. Nobody is getting in trouble, nobody from the league or PGMOL is saying anything about it.

              Just complete silence, its nuts.

How should someone new to the sport go about picking a team to follow?

Watch a lot of games before worrying about picking a team, and eventually, you'll gravitate towards one. If you 'try' and pick one early, you'll end up possibly wanting to change, maybe even then feeling bad that you want to change who you support.

Watch games, watch the players, and even research the history of clubs you find an interest in. Something about the founding of the club, their political/social stances, or the culture sewn into the club might speak to you.

Honestly, if you give it time, a club will 'pick you' as opposed to you picking it.

I'd say cheer for the underdogs. Must be exciting to watch teams like Brighton/Brentford/Fulham upset better teams and grow as you watch them. Brighton especially, they've been getting better and better with Potter and losing him hasn't hurt them much.

                      Re: 2022-23 English Football Thread

Thanks for the reply guys. I’ve just recently fallen in love with the sport. My son got into and got on a travel team, so I started learning more and more about and now I catch myself watching YouTube videos and listening to podcasts about football (feels weird saying football instead is soccer). I wish I would have given it a chance when I was younger. We went to our first MLS game to see the opening night (do they call it that) of FC Dallas. It’s taken over quite a bit of my free time, but had zero idea where to start in trying to find a club to follow in the Premier League.

A few little tidbits I learned . I just recently found out there is no playoffs or championship game, just who ever has the most points win the whole thing. Oh, and there is this huge tournament during the seasons with top clubs from Europe, crazy. Aggregate is interesting. And offsides, well I’m still not 100% on that, but I kind of get it. I even joined an adult co-ed soccer league, that’s supposed to be casual, it’s not and I am way more out of shape than I imagined.

All that to say, thanks to my son, I found a new love. Sorry for the off topic rambling.

For pure entertainment and also tactical analysis, I can't recommend Tifo enough (their podcast and Youtube channels).

Nobody knows what offside is now, so no worries.

If you are that new to it you could literally just pick a team with a uniform you like, a logo or a player, etc. I wouldn't overthink it. It's all for fun.

I watch Tifo on YouTube, didn’t know there was a podcast as well. Thanks.

I may just go that route. Appreciate it.

I know this is the English football thread but if you want to branch out ESPN+ has games from several leagues including La Liga (Spain) and Bundesliga (Germany). Paramount+ has Serie A (Italy) and the Champions League games.

That's probably what I enjoy most about the sport you can find a match anytime of the year from across the globe.

Paramount+ also has both the Brazilian and Argentinian leagues. We've come a long way in the last decade or so in availability of leagues to view an affordable price.
