English commentators dismissing Guimares putting his studs into someone's thigh as not a red cause it isn't a leg breaker lmao.

I'm expecting Everton to lose to Bournemouth, but still have fans rush the pitch to celebrate and bring out the guard of honor for not getting relegated. Because we don't understand irony or shame.

The attitudes about these kind of fouls among the referees and everyone surrounding the game in England is going to get someone seriously hurt. Not sure if you saw the picture of Gakpo’s chest from Saturday, but it looked like a bear clawed him lmao.

He has been given so much leeway this season as an individual and so many commentators and pundits have sung his praises for being physical when in reality he seemingly has damn near impunity to aggressively foul.

Newcastle, because they’re ‘an underdog and challenging the elite’ or some **** are going to continue to get so much preferential treatment due to:

          1. English manager everyone wanted to have a shot

          2. Purposely recruiting enough British players to feel like a ‘proper’ football club

          3. Already mentioned, but shaking things up at the top

Haven’t watched a ton of their games but he does seem to be incredibly aggressive. Definitely doesn’t get enough whistle.

Also it’s nuts that with so many cameras, there is no system where things can be reviewed post-match.

Like if a player like Gakpo has a clear injury that doesn’t appear to be within the spirit of the game, you can very easily go back and find a clip of the exact incident happening.

But that would undermine officials' decisions and hurt their feelings.

It’s also kind of crazy that one real referee is in charge of the entire game. 100yd pitches - 1 ref and 2 linesmen/lineswomen who rarely call a foul.

                  Nba - 94 feet…3 refs
                  NFL - 100yds….at least 5 refs

Always loved seeing Phil Dowd trying to keep up with the pace

Yeah soccer reffing in general just seems pretty far behind the curve

Sorry Liverpool. I’m sure that mid February match on Thursday in Zagreb will still feel fulfilling next season.

I hope he gets a position mid season after a sacking—I really enjoy his puzzled and blank looks on the touchline.

A one season break with some new opponents on Thursday honestly isn’t awful. It’s when it turns into several seasons that it becomes painful…yeah.

For Liverpool, I assume it’ll be one season of Thursday.

Oh I’m sure you do. I’m sure it’s much better to have a hugely disappointing season but beat United. Maybe you can just watch that game over and over when Champions League starts next season. Lord knows you’ll have nothing else to watch mid week.
