Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
Seriously….whoever it was from United that went to Ajax and got Antony instead of Kudus needs to be terminated immediately. The lengthy article the Athletic posted a few days ago suggests it was Van der Saar that signed off on the deal at 80mil when their team of scouts valued him at 25 lol.
It’s a good read if you have the time and enjoy seeing United in the mud.

United lost again today and it must have added more pressure of ten Hag to keep his job. They will be facing Aston Villa on boxing day that will be another tough game for them and if they don't get something out of this game, it is very likely that ten Hag time with the club might be over after this game.FanAmp - A Fun Place for All the F1 Fans!Comment

This might be confusing to anyone who didn’t read the article.
Under OGS’ team, United valued Antony at £25m and would not pay more than £60m.
United’s current setup was pushed by van der Sar as much as possible due to already selling other first-team players. The fact that he got a desperate United up to £86m is hilarious, and some of the blame for United has to go to ten Hag.
He wanted the player and was pushing for reinforcements. He didn’t make the call in the money, but he absolutely wanted Antony.Comment

Every Arsenal supporter with a brain has pointed to this game since Tomiyasu’s injury, knowing that it would cost us.
Zinchenko is not a defender, and you can’t put a non-defender on Salah. ****ing embarrassing. If Timber wasn’t injured, Zinchenko would not get many minutes.Comment

I was screaming something more profane—but that’s basically every game with Zinchenko. A fit Tomiyasu is all Gabriel dreams about at night, I’m sure. Rice, also, as when Gabriel covers Zinchenko, Rice has to drop in and cover Gabriel.
…ugh.Comment

Yeah I’d wager a fit Timber probably plays ahead of him too. I think Rice played every position apart from CF that half

I thought it was too. It reminded me of the Soucek one on us where the defender goes to ground, handles it, but because it looks like they slip they don’t give it.
I think the Tsimikas injury actually helped you guys out. Saka vs Gomez is a better matchup for you guys.

It’s a weird one as different replay angles make his movement look different (behind or in front of him, how wide the angle is). The first replay they showed it looked like he moved his hand to the ball, but the next one they showed (and obviously wouldn’t play it again, because drama) showed he was trying to catch himself and it was more ball to hand.
I think if it looked clearly intentional it would’ve been given.Comment
