Saudi fund comes sniffing around Salah again 3 days before playing Newcastle. Totally random timing I'm sure.Comment

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
I think he’ll go there after this year because the $ they’ll throw at him will be insane but yeah, the timing is hilarious.
Also, where the f*** did these Nunez to Chelsea rumors come from???

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
Not that anyone is surprised, but it's nice to see that Mike Dean has confirmed for us all that the PGMOL is an old boys network that acts without integrity and purposefully undermined the existence of VAR.Comment

That’s why I don’t buy that there’s this nefarious corruption going on that multiple idiots are in on without it getting out.
They’re just extremely bad at their job and don’t want to hurt their friends feelings.
There is also this - some of the quotes in there are really something else

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
I think we've known from the start that they were going to try to protect refs by not overturning calls. Which is completely the opposite of the point of VAR, and makes the situation worse.
They need to do it the exact same way as rugby. A sport where the refs are actually a part of the game, and not outsider pariahs who are yelled and hated constantly.Comment

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread
If they can't get referees assigned as VARs to do it correctly, PGMOL should take it out of the refs hands and go with the central location model used in such leagues as the NFL, NHL, and MLB. But PGMOL's response to the Dean comments tells us they will never do what they should. They are apparently content with their image among those watching being incompetence and lack of integrity.
If the most sensitive people on Earth - MLB umpires - were able to be convinced to rely on someone sitting in New York looking at a screen, anyone can be convinced.Comment

The Fulham goal was weird. Awful giveaway but then Ramsdale ran away and almost fell lolComment

And then interesting strategies by Fulham and Forest to get guys sent off and concede penalties
Also it’s kinda funny that Kane finally left Spurs when they get a manager with a system where he’d score like 50 goalsComment

Yes, the players in front of him need to do better, but the amount of times everyone asks "What was Ramsdale doing there?" is far too many at this point.

Also entirely over whatever Arteta is trying to do with the defense. Getting in his own way week after week.Last edited by Krebstar; 08-26-2023, 01:44 PM.Comment
