    Re: The Transfer Thread

Hulk can play as a right sided attacker so he'd actually start along with Torres up front. I agree that RB is critical as Ivanovic could go back to central defense where I think he does well.

I'd like to see Roman get van der Wiel as he's pretty good. On the note of the boss, I just want Roman to get someone he won't fire within 2 years and someone who can instill a style and culture like Ferguson and Wenger have done with their teams.

Roman needs to understand you can't win every year and constantly firing managers isn't the way to fix things when you don't win. I hope that he sees that his next hire needs to be someone who can create a culture and play style that has longevity.

I don't get what Roman is doing with this. We have a damn good guy filling in right now who's shown that he can win with a train wreck of a team. Give RDM a chance maybe a big name is not what we need since it hasn't worked in the past, plus he's already a Chelsea legend from his playing days.

I believe he's made it known that he dislikes this playing style. While he loved winning the CL, you know he'd rather win it in style.

There is a reason he wants Guardiola.

I'm not saying it's rational thinking, but it's clearly the way he thinks.

I agree but... and a huge but he will have to spend tons more money to win the way Barca have won in the past. Hulk, Hazard and Pep won't do it. You need more play making midfielders, an attack defensive back, etc.

            No doubt.

Changing Chelsea into a Barca style team will be too expensive even for the Russian I'm afraid. It would take a complete makeover.

Oh without a doubt. My point is just he wants his team to play a certain style in general. He doesn't want them to sit back and counter and hope they don't give one up. He just wants to score more than the opposition.

He wants to see his team play like Arsenal, but win titles.

As much as it would make part of me die inside, his solution is Jürgen Klopp, but he already turned down Liverpool. He can implement a system similar to Dortmund where it's all about pressing when you don't have the ball and scoring when you do have it. Not entirely about possession, but about scoring goals and never letting the opponent be comfortable. But if he went to Chelsea, I'd cry for a few days.

We had attack fluidity and scored the most goals in EPL history in '10. We also had the stingiest defense under Mourinho. Roman needs to just sit back and write checks while letting football people do their thing.

Wenger has a style which is appealing to the eye but he hasn't won anything since overhauling the club while chasing down teenagers.

                  Re: The Transfer Thread

I'd say Wenger's downfall is Arsenal's inability to spend the money. Honestly Arsenal might have been the most entertaining team in the EPL this year. Probably because they're like a mini Barca at times but with an actual CF. City at times was boring as hell due to Mancini's coaching. United is United. Chelsea... yeah. Tottenham at times was fun to watch. New Castle as well. As far as Arsenal, they didn't win anything this year but getting 3rd after that spot is an achievement in its own right.

And I agree, the Russian can't spend to Barca's level. Well he could but that wouldn't do him much because Barca's thing is youth. Chelsea youth system isn't near to that of Barca. Therefore, he would have to spend like Real and that ain't happening.

IMO Pep isn't coming to Chelsea unless more players are signed. He will probably want a lot more control than the Russian is willing to give. Therefore, like I said before. He takes the year off. Vincente leaves after this year and boom, new coach of Spain. Pep. Easy transition and he'll be moving to a new challenge.

Did you miss the "but win titles" portion after I mentioned Arsenal? I said he wants a team that plays that style, but that wins.

I'm not saying he should care how his club plays, I'm just saying what he's blatantly said in the past. He wants to be entertained and he wants victory. Both, not just one or the other.

Roman is never going to just sit back and write checks. When someone puts that much personal money into a club, they're always going to think they have a right to coach.

A front line of Mata, Hulk, and Hazard!

Wow! That is going to be one entertaining front line.
