I am really excited for him. He completely bossed the CL Final.

His range of passing is off the charts, the sort of passing we haven't had at the club since Xabi Alonso.

So still no left back or left footed center back for United. Start the. 4-6 place battle now. Ugh.

With one or both of those, what's the result? Battling for 3–6 instead?

I don't see anyone sniffing the battle for the title between Liverpool and City.

the difference is being comfortably in the top 4 vs clawing or relying on poor form from others and going on a run like last season. Also just the idea that you never know who slips up from complacency or whatever. They've really done very little to improve outside of VDB of course but last season finishing 3rd was above who they actually are. And it's not just about one year. It's about building a program for years and depth for all the competitions.

Right, I think 3–6 will be a season-long battle again, regardless of expected or possible transfers for teams who are aiming for those spots. I don't think United adding those two positions gives them anything close to a comfortable finish, even in fourth.

Just as Spurs dragging a lifeless Bale back to London doesn't suddenly make them a lock for third or fourth.

Arsenal adding a midfielder will give them a chance at fourth, but I still think we're realistically aiming for fifth/sixth.

Well yeah but a full season of Bruno, Greenwood getting a realistic slot in the lineup more often, and those two positions being addressed would be a pretty big improvement over having to rely on turning it on post January transfer window like last season. Last season early on they lost to Palace, Newcastle, West Ham, and Bournemouth. That’s a lot of points to drop early on and to teams they have no business losing to.

First time United had ever lost to Palace, I believe, and that fixture happens this weekend.

Related, as it's United, I thought Sancho was staying at Dortmund for this season, but apparently it's still possible he leaves? For some reason I thought it was settled that he's not moving this window, but perhaps I got ahead of myself.

That's what Dortmund told everyone. Could have been a tactic to try to drive up the price.

Thiago is confirmed and we are close to a 35million pound deal for Diogo Jota as well!

Michael Edwards has emerged from hibernation and he has business on his mind.

From what I gathered is Dortmund made their price and are refusing to budge from that. Still talk that it will happen but have to pay their terms. Personal terms already have been agreed to so it’s just a matter of how much they want him I guess. I wish they would just make their mind up already because every day it lingers, it’s yet another day where they miss out on another target and if the entire windows only brings VDB then they really miss out.

I guess our plan at CB is to rely on Fab and the two youngsters if Gomez and Matip have injury issues again this year.

It actually sounds like we’re going to sell Hoever to Wolves as well. Though he is more of a RB than CB and were pretty well covered there. Fab is a pretty good 4th option at CB tbh if it comes down to that.

I was thinking of Sepp and Philiips. I also think of Hoever as a RB. And yeah Fab isn't a bad choice. And having Sepp and Phillips come in every once in a while wouldn't be bad.

Also sucks we might be selling him. But it would be a long time before he got game time with us behind TAA and Neco.
