Hoping with this new game 2K finally opens up access to PGA Pros in the form of having the ability to compete directly against them in a Play Now mode (as a fellow PGA Pro), play as the Pro in a Career mode, and especially while playing as the PGA Pro have their name listed and not my gamertag ID. I can't hit the ball 300+ yds or straight (much of the time) in real life, so I don't want name associated with elite golf playing.
I'll be stunned if this is anything but a content pack and bugfix to 2k23 that comes with a new name (2k25) and an ask for a new purchase
I'm not expecting a whole lot myself. More than anything, I want them to offer an option to the swing difficulty to change the swing mechanic to where hook/slice is determined by swing path, and push/pull is determined by stick tempo. Even if they would only enable it for offline play, I'd be content, but I could see it working as a Society custom choice. I simply feel that swing tempo has so much less correlation to hook and slice than swing path does.
I'm 99% sure that the game will use the Unity ending again, but even at that, I think they could do better. I'm hoping they'll give us an option to turn vsync off in the XBox Series X and PS5 versions, and use Variable Refresh Rate on those two machines. I think it would help with some of the stuttering I see on my Series X. I'd love to see what it could do with the inconsistent swing response I get that I suspect might be at least partially attributable to that.

They hired Patel, so the game will probably change somewhat. Maybe some more dispersion like randomness, or something else like challenges could be added.

Oh joy..
One of my least favorite things in EA PGA is the randomness
I would not expect a big leap forward either way. Think of the difference between 2K21 and 2K23. I'm happy tho. Some of my favorite youtubers/streamers feature golf video game content, and it was looking pretty dire there for a second.
Unfortunately since EA seams to be done, I’ll most likely buy it to have a golf game. I’ve logged in about 145 hours of 2k23. It’s time for a new game. Even though new engine is probably a long shot, hopefully they make some meaningful changes that the graphics at least look updated.

I think it all comes down to whether or not they are still supporting last-gen consoles, which I am assuming they will be, as all 2K24 titles came out for them.
If they are supporting last-gen, then graphics will probably still be similar. I'd be OK even if they just updated the lighting...it's truly bad in certain situations, where trees and such look like they are radioactive.
I know Unity has been updated over the years, so maybe they'll include some of the improvements to that engine to get more out of it.

I've echoed these sentiments as well. We're called casuals for wanting this but not much thought is put into that insult. I'm not on the PGA Tour, but I would like to play as a pro in Career Mode and/or against one in Play Now Mode. It's the same reason why I don't create MyPlayers in NBA 2K--I prefer realism in games.
Yes, I dont want this series to take anything from the EA game.
I agree about keeping the randomness away, but I'd be cool if 2K could add challenges or something similar...the 2K game ends up feeling pretty empty after a while, and it needs more meat on the bones.
And if EA is indeed done with golf for good, I'd be OK if 2K got the rights to the majors, too. Would really help make 2K's career mode more immersive.
