They were def a "Collect" purchase.
Now they are hanging in Sim room with my Hogans and first Mizunos I ever had (MP68)
Just a golf addict at work...

HC has inched higher the past few months. up from 10.1 to 12.9 now.
Taking a while off getting through to retirement caused a bit of rust lol
Everyone I know that has Nike irons are still playing them! And they're going right up on your wall like a Samurai Sword collection???

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Now that the season is in full swing, I've gotten some rounds under my belt and playing regularly. So time for a quick recap.

Mid last month I caddied for a buddy of mine in his US Open qualifier at Birmingham CC, it did not go well for him, but in our practice round I did put together a nice little 82 on my own ball, never having seen the course before.

Then I was home back in Wisconsin for a week over Memorial Day. Hadn't played in almost two weeks at that point. Played all the usual local courses with my Pops and the boys. Knocked the rust off with an 86. 79 at Fox Valley Golf Club, a favorite of mine. Spent a day up in Door County, fired a wild 16 par, 2 Bogey 74 at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club. Wild round for me. Never had a ton of close birdie looks, but when I needed a par I'd hit it tight. Finished up the trip with an 80 and 82.

Since I've been back, last week I shot an 84 and 81 last week. Yesterday I fired another 74 with an eagle hole out on a par 4 on the back, and a birdie on the front. Had 5 bogeys, 3 of which came on par 3's (shoot me). Then today at the Blue Course on U of Michigan's campus I fired an 82.

While I have been consistent around that 80-82 range, those two 74's really have my handicap all ****ed up down to a 6.5 at the moment. I hope that can get back above a 7 sooner than later. I feel much more comfortable there.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I just started about a month ago. Bought a new set of Strata clubs from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Been hitting the driving ranges a lot, even an indoor range a couple of times. Need lots more practice hitting off the ground before hitting a course.

This is totally me. Been at it longer than a month though. I refuse to head to a course and hold everyone else up, hit 40 yard ground balls, whiff at the ball totally, etc.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Don’t be afraid to hold others up. We all started somewhere and almost everyone gets it.

As long as your picking up on holes when it gets bad and letting others play through when needed they will smile and say thank you and to have a good rest of your round.

Basically as long as you’re avoiding the things not related to your actual golfing ability that slow play down you’ll be fine.

While the range is good - it can’t simulate actually being out there and learning the true nuances.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I probably would try golfing if I get the invite from one of my friends, don’t want to try it alone. I belong to the Eagles, thet have a golf team, plus I know other golfers outside the Eagles. I’m not going to ask anyone, I’ll let them ask me, and I’m in no hurry.

Btw, my brother is from Pittsburgh, and he plays golf, we’ve been talking about golf on the phone a lot since I started. His daughter plays golf for the North Catholic High School team, she tranfered from Mars.

Small world! I literally live 5 minutes walking distance from North Catholic. (Seven Fields just across the street)
