My beloved Mariners have let the hall of fame careers like Jr, Edgar, Ichiro, The Big Unit and King Felix fall on hard times. The last greatest run we had was 2001 when the team one 126 games and then the Yankees came along and took us out.
The issue is our organization from the top down don’t care…but that another issue for another time.
In this franchise installment, I’ll be at the helm of the organization and see if I can bring the World Series trophy back to the rainy city.
First off…the rules for the gameplay.
• As the GM, I will oversee Roster Moves; Lineups/Rotation; 40-Man; Waivers; Injuries; Trades; Management; Rehab Facilities; Free Agency; Contracts; Facilities; Marketing & Banking. How the players are trained will be put to CPU because I’ve always found it annoying and it’s more a coach thing anyways.
• 0 games will be played, 100% sim
• I feel the Mariner’s are a mid-market team. Not the Red Sox/Yankees/Mets in being able to sign whoever they want regardless of price. To show this; I cannot sign anyone from free agency that is either “Potential A” or “Currently A”. I can sign as may “B” level players as I want to an MLB contract and AA ball. AAA ball cannot be “A” talent unless I drafted them since the real life Mariners focus on their farm system.
• Free Agency: If there is “A” or “B” talent still available after free agency has ended the above rules aren’t in effect since all the big market teams already had first dibs on them.
• Trades: I cannot go for “A” level talent unless I give up an “A” & “B” level in return. If I want to go down, I can do as much of that as I see fit (ie. trade my “B” for “C” or worse)
Feel free to make suggestions
