    Pete Carroll’s PAC-12 Pipeline (PS2 Madden Franchise)

    Platform: PS2
Sliders: “Kings” as I feel the engine isn’t really new in terms of PS2 platform
Gameplay Style: play both sides of ball (even though I suck at defense lol)
Trades: only able to use block to start trades, can review other trades proposed to me however.
Resigning: Can only resign either BEFORE 1st regular season game is sim OR during offseason. The ‘interest bar’ must be dark green to offer contract to player.

Concept: create a team of only PAC-12 players for Pete Carroll to coach.

EDIT: there was no Kicker available in FA to start so I am keeping Mare and hopefully finding one come draft or next FA since I can’t trade K/P.

    PAC-12:
    Washington
    Washington State
    Oregon
    Oregon State
    UCLA
    California
    USC
    Stanford
    Arizona
    Arizona State
    Colorado
    Utah

Seahawks Overhaul Roster From Top To Bottom!!

Pete Carroll woke up and realized he was now in the NFL, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. He came up with a whacky idea...create a team full of PAC-12 players. He met with General Manager John Schneider and proposed the insane idea. Pete had told Jon, “I love the PAC-12 and want to represent the greatest conference there is”.

John was very hesitant at first, citing the very narrow pool of players available to them. This handcuff would be catastrophic to their goals of winning their division then going on to win the SuperBowl.

Pete Carroll assured John that his ability to recruit and coach of the guys would make up for any issues. John Schneider was still reluctant, as the team had superstars and Pro Bowl caliber talent on both sides of the ball tied up to large contracts that would cripple the goals he outlined earlier.

At the end of the discussions, John agreed to give Pete Carroll’s insane idea a shot...if only because he thought it would be both (a) An interesting publicity move to keep the Seahawks in the news and media and (b) He truly felt Coach Carroll could take the players he assembles far in the season and league as a whole.

I know right lol. It seems like every year there were 4-7 payers from the PAC on his teams. I figured I’d create a similar fate.

Re: Pete Carroll’s PAC-12 Pipeline (PS2 Madden Franchise)

Pete Carroll and John Schneider met for their annual meeting before the offseason officially began. It was the weekend before rosters were unfrozen, trades could be discussed and executed; and the draft process began with intervening potential draft picks and the combine took place.

John reassured Pete that an all PAC-12 team was going to happen, but it would take time. Time...to find the right right personnel to contribute to their team dynamic. Time...to find the correct trades to set them up now and for the future. Time...for all the new players to gel and come together on the field to win games.

Schneider started off small. He dangled young fullback Owen Schmitt and got a bite from the Denver Broncos. The Broncos offered Spencer Larsen from Arizona and their 5th round pick in return for Schmitt. Schneider took the deal. When asked, Carroll said he felt Spencer Larsen could “grow as a fullback or switch back to his position of linebacker while he was at Arizona”.

A couple days later, Schneider was at it again. He put two of his wide receiver on the block, and got a response from Miami. Miami offered two of their own wide receivers in Greg Camarillo and rookie Patrick Turner for the duo of Deon Butler and Deion Branch. Schneider took it because they got younger. Branch was an older veteran and Butler was simply not from the PAC-12.

In a move corresponding with the trade with Miami, Seattle released wide receivers Sean Morey and Ben Obomanu to free agency. They then signed Shaun McDonald to a 2 year contract worth $2.7 million.

The first major domino to fall was talented running back and return man Leon Washington. Schneider was very pleased to announce he acquired bullish running game of Marshawn Lynch from California. Now, Schneider had to include the veteran quarterback of Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst, but in return Seattle also got quarterback Trent Edwards and linebacker Keith Ellison.

The Patriots aren’t shy to trades...and Bill Belichick is no stranger to getting more in return then what he gives. Bill Belichick heard of what the Seahawks were doing and offered them Patrick Chung, Tully Banta-Cain and injury prone Rob Gronkowski. All they wanted in return was Chris Bakker for tight end depth, Ben Hamilton for offensive line depth and speedy wide receiver Golden Tate. While he was hesitant, Schneider pulled the trigger. When asked about the players brought in, Pete responded, “Rob [Gronkowski] is a big physical guy. Pat [Chung] is young and will fit nicely on the second level we’ve got”.

Over the course of the weeks leading up to mandatory training camp...then into he preseason multiple trades were offered, some were refused on merit while many others were accepted. After various trades were carried out...a slew of players were released to free agency to make room on the roster.

It may have taken all of the offseason, but John Schneider did it. John got Pete a roster that was comprised of all PAC-12 talent. It was heartbreaking to trade away the wealth of talent he acquired through the draft like stud linebacker Aaron Curry and hard hitting safety Earl Thomas. He used these highly talented players to recoup a wealth of talent as well and the transactions section was indeed huge for him...even by his own standards.

After all the trades were processed and finalized...a slew of cuts were made to thin the roster of the non PAC12 players that other teams were not interested in. After the cuts, came John Schneider working on free agents players and making sure they the contracts offered were incentivized enough to garner their interest.

SEAHAWKS DEFENSE FUELS VICTORY OVER TENNESSEE

The Seattle Seahawks won their first preseason game over the Tennessee Titans by a final score of 45-31. The Seattle defense held the Titans to 10 first half points, led by Marcus Trufant, a 7 year veteran and the 3 INTERCEPTIONS he had. The Titans’ lone bright spot of the quarter was a tight spiral in between 4 Seahawks defenders to Nate Washington who ran down the sideline for a 92 yard score after the Seahawks pinned them on the 8 yard line.

The offense came alive during the 2nd quarter by scoring 21 unanswered points. Kyle Boller was in the zone as he completed touchdown passes to running back Lynch and tight end Smith to take a 21-10 lead into halftime. The bad news was on the final play before halftime, Kyle Boller took a viscous hot and left the game with a hand injury. Trent Edwards was coming in after halftime to get some reps anyways.

After halftime the Hawks defense picked off veteran Kerry Collins and managed to continue a ‘bend but don’t break’ approach. The defense gave up 21 second half points, but Trent Edwards ran one in for a touchdown and Justin Fargas turned the corner, lowered his shoulder and kept running into the end zone for a 60 yard score.

X-rays were done after the game on Kyle Boller’s hand, and the images show a hairline fracture on his is non-throwing hand. He will be back in time for the next game.

Re: Pete Carroll’s PAC-12 Pipeline (PS2 Madden Franchise)

                    WALK OFF SAFETY

The Seattle defense came up big once again as they faced the superb Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

The offense struggled at first, as the had to punt twice. The defense held strong and only allowed he potent offense of the Packers to score a field goal in the first quarter.

The offense of the Hawks came alive during the 2nd quarter with a 2 yard pass from Boller to Smith. After an amazing punt by Berger, pitting the Packers on their 5 yard line the defense stopped the run behind the line to push them further back to the 1 yard line. The defense got too greedy and focused on the run game. Aaron Rodgers used okay action pass to suck up he defender and then threw it over all their heads to a streaking Jennings who would go the distance of 99 yards for the touchdown. Crosby would miss the point after to make it 7-9. Seattle would add on a field goal before the half to make it a 10-9 game.

The Seahawks got the ball to start the 3rd, and went on a 7 play 80 yard drive for a 17 yard pass from Trent Edwards to Smith. The Packers got a touchdown on their next possession but failed to convert a 2-point attempt and were down 17-15. Towards the end of the 3rd, Marshawn Lynch bullies his way into the end zone for a 1 yard score to give them a sizable lead of 24-15 with only a quarter to go.

The 4th quarter was all Packers as Matt Flynn threw it to sea in for a 69 yard score after breaking a few tackles to make it 24-22. On the Seahawks kickoff return Thurmond III put he ball on the ground when Packers’ Collin scooped and scored the go ahead touchdown. They failed the 2-point conversion once again to make it a 28-24 lead. The Seahawks offense stalled as they punted twice, but held he Packers to only a field goal. Trent Edwards marched down the field and with a minute to go got a touchdown pass to tight end Alex Smith and the defense kept them off the board to force overtime.

Both defenses came out strong, forcing punts by both team. Berger’s second punt was downed at the one as the rainy field stopped it from hitting the end zone. On the very next play Shaun Cody busted through the line and tackled Brandon Jackson in the end zone for a safety.

                    When asked about the defense after the game Pete Carrol had this to say;
“The defense stepped up. They forced an interception AND a fumble from Aaron Rodgers. They caused another two fumbles overall. The entire team showed a lot of heart out there today in a rainy slugfest.”

                    The player of the game
                    Shaun Cody 2 tackles, 1 tfl, 1 sack, 1 ff, 1 sfty

Pete Carroll was asked about the upcoming preseason tilt versus the Minnesota Vikings.

“Well, that have talent on both sides of the ball, but so do we. They have a first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback in Brett Favre. He’s known for making amazing throws that nobody else can, but also turn the ball over on occasion. It will come down to minimizing the explosive plays while forcing a turnover or two. Our team will be up for the challenge”

The team announced that the depth chart will be slightly altered. Kyle Boller will start the game, Trent Edwards will play the second quarter as the tram wants to get an extended look at 3rd string John David Booty

                          VIKINGS RUN AWAY WITH GAME

                          Seattle 16 - Vikings 31

The Seattle Seahawks were not prepared for this game as they were only able to muster 16 points against the defense. No quarterback had strong showings. Trent Edwards threw an interception in the red zone. Kyle Boller seemed overwhelmed and third string John David Booty looked as though he didn’t belong in the NFL by throwing two interceptions. Marshawn Lynch was the lone bright spot by scoring a 5 yard touchdown while Olindo Mare kicked a few field goals.

Adrian Peterson was his usual self by running for 80 yards and a score and even backup quarterback Tavares Jackson had a rushing touchdown.

A dejected Pete Carroll had the following to say to the media postgame; “They we’re ready, we weren’t. We couldn’t gain any traction and it’s something we will address for next week’s preseason finale in Oakland”

DEFENSE HOLDS OFF LATE OAKLAND RALLY

                            Seattle 19 - Oakland 17

The Seattle defense came to play in this preseason finale in Oakland. They got started with a defensive touchdown. Brandon Mebane stripped the ball out of Luke Lawton’s grip as Rey Maualuga scooped up the ball and tumbled 33 yards for the opening score. Olindo Mare added a field goal half way through to go up 10-0.

Oakland got on the board with a field goal at the end of the first. Seattle kicked their own field goal part way in the second to push the lead back to 10, at 13-3. Their defense collapsed as they let the electric Jacoby Ford loose on a punt return as he ran 67 yards while weaving through defenders for a score making it 13-10.

The third quarter was Oakland’s as Lawton redeemed himself by scoring a 4 yard receiving touchdown from Gradkowski.

The fourth quarter was all Seahawks. They got two field goals. One towards the beginning and one with 5 minutes to go in the game to grab the lead 19-16. Oakland had a shot to win the game on the final drive when Patrick Chung interceptors Gradkowski’s pass and they were able to ice the game.

When asked about the team, Pete had the following to say; “We’ve got some things to figure out. Choices to make to put our team in the best possible place to win come the real deal next week. Tight end Alex Smith suffered a broken thumb in this last contest and will miss the next 2 weeks to recover.”
