SAN FRANCISCO 1-2 PUNCH VICTORIOUS IN SEATTLE

    San Francisco 31 - Seattle 24

Seattle loses a hard fought battle versus their NFC rivals. The game started off great as Patrick Chung intercepted the first pass attempted by Alex Smith. Seattle turned it into a touchdown off a Marshawn Lynch 3 yard run. San Francisco’s next possession went according to their plan. Somehow Frank Gore was left all alone on a wheel route and took it an absurd 71 yards for a score. Seattle and San Francisco exchanged punts. Spencer Larsen scored a 10 yard touchdown reception from Boller towards the end of the first, to make it a 14-7 game.

The second quarter was all Frank Gore and the 49ers. They managed to get a field goal half way through. That wasn’t the backbreaking play, it was a 84 yard run by Frank Gore with 8 seconds left in the half that sucked all the air out of Qwest Field. San Francisco led 17-14 at half thanks to that play.

San Francisco got the ball to start the second half, but Seattle held strong and forced a punt. They returned the favor as Lynch scored on his own wheel route at the midway pint of the third to go up 21-17 at the end of the 3rd.

Seattle added a field goal early in he fourth to make it a 7 point lead 24-17. Too bad Alex Smith and Michael Crabtree would hookup on a long 88 yard pass play after San Francisco committed back-to-back penalties giving themselves a 2nd and 33. Then of that want bad enough Spencer Larsen on the Seahawk last suffered a pinched nerve on he next drive and be out for multiple weeks to recover.

Seattle gave up the game winning touchdown as big Vernon Davis snuck past Eric Weddle for a 60 yard touchdown pass. Boller marches down the field but threw his only interception in the end zone as the Niners ran out the clock.

Pete Carroll was speechless at the podium as he had no words to describe the play from his guys.

During the week, tight end Joe Klopfenstein was brought into practice for a workout. He was signed to a 1 year deal worth $1.0 million as the tram planned to move Rob Gronkowski back to full back in hopes to bolster the run game; as well as for time for Spencer Larsen to recover.

The entire secondary was seen working on drills in hopes to correct all of lack of assignments that happened last week.

THE CHAMP GOES DOWN FOR THE COUNT. HAWKS WIN 39-16

The Seahawks came out and dominated from beginning to end. Olindo Mare kicked two field goals to Matt Prater’s one to get things going. The offense came alive on their next possession after Prater’s points. Marshawn Lynch took a sweep play right, broke four tackles and went down the sideline for an 80 yard score.

The second quarter was much of the same for the Hawks. Boller tossed a 13 yard score to new tight end Klopfenstein and Mare added a field goal before halftime to take a commanding lead of 23-3.

The third quarter saw only a touchdown by Gronkowski as he plunged in from 1 yard out. The real news was perennial Pro Bowl player in Champ Bailey. After he tackled Gronk, he came up clutching his arm. He didn’t return to the game.

The fourth quarter the Broncos offense came to life but the lead was insurmountable at this juncture. Kyle Orton threw a 41 yard score to rookie Demaryius Thomas and a 1 yard score to Brandon Lloyd. Prayer missed one extra ooh t which added to his forgettable day of 3 missed field goals, and 2 extra points missed along with it.

LATE OFFENSIVE ‘SURGE’ POWERS HAWKS PAST CHARGERS 34-31

The defense for both teams showed up as no points were scored in the first quarter.

The second quarter was eventful for both teams. San Diego started off the scoring with a Sproles 3 yard run. Seattle answered right back when Boller hooked up with Shaun McDonald on a slant route he took in from 22 yards out. Rivers then threw a touchdown pass to Naanee for 23 yards. Right before the half, Boller flocked it to Gronkowski from 5 yards to go into halftime 14-14.

The Chargers got the ball to start the second half, but Rivers was picked off by Antoine Cason. The Hawks drive went nowhere and hand to punt. The defense of the Seahawks stepped up and forced a punt. San Diego scored midway through by a Mathews 1 yard run to go up 21-14. Seattle added a field goal towards the end of the third quarter to get within 4 points at 21-17.

The fourth quarter was one for the ages as there were multiple lead changes. Seattle got another field goal at the 7:44 mark to make it 21-20, after Rey Maualuga intercepted Rivers

Kaeding kicked in a 22 yarder to push the lead back to 4; 24-20.

With 1:30 left on the clock; Boller connected with Lynch to go ahead 27-24. Rivers, whose known for a comeback here and there then drove down the field with a 6 play drive capped with a touchdown pass to Antonio Gates to go back ahead 31-27.

The Chargers chose to turn up the pressure and Boller let the ball fly to Alex Smith who would rumble and stumble down to the 12 yard line on a crucial 65 yard pass play. With a first and goal Fargas would run it in for the game winning touchdown.

The game ball was given to Alex Smith. He had to 3 receptions, 132 yards, and set up the eventual game winning touchdown.

LIGHTS-OUT DEFENSE AND ALEX SMITH SEAL WIN OVER ST. LOUIS 35-33

Seattle got the ball to start the game and asserted their dominance by eating up over 6 minutes on their way to the end zone. A 14 play drive was punctuated by a Gronkowski catch from 8 yards by Boller. The Rams answered with a 10 play drive in half the time to score, but the extra point was missed. The first quarter would end as Seattle led 7-6.

The second quarter belong to St. Louis as they would score three times. Avery got behind the defense for a catch and run of 88 yards, untouched. Seattle would answer right back as Gronk caught another 8 yard toss to the flat.

The ensuing drive would haunt the Seahawks as they let ANOTHER man loose in their secondary; as Gibson caught a ball, broke a tackle and went in for a 76 yard score. Seattle was now losing 14-21. They had three time outs, and wanted to score before the half. The first play, Boller was severely pressured and tossed it to the flat. Barrel was waiting and tipped it to himself then ran in for a 17 yard interception touchdown. The Rams has a commanding lead of 28-14.

Seattle still wanted points as they knew the Rams would get the ball acer halftime. They orchestrated a 4 play; :26 second touchdown as the Rams tried to pressure Boller again. This time he tossed it to Alex Smith for a BIG 76 yard gain down to the 2 yard line. Marshawn Lynch punched it in to at least salvage the half. Rams led 28-21.

The third quarter began as teams exchanged punts. St. Louis got a field goal to push the lead back to 9; 30-21. Seattle then took over and scored twice as Alex Smith did damage of his own. Boller threw two touchdown passes to him of 52 and 39 yards to go up 35-30 heading into the final quarter.

The Rams managed to get a field goal early in at the 10:13 mark to make it a field goal game. The Rams defense stood tall as they held the Seattle offense to nothing but punts. The Hawks defense answered their own call and held the offensive powerhouse up until now scoreless for over 10 minutes to narrowly escape with a win.

Coach Spagnuolo said after the game, “Alex Smith beat us...nobody else. We couldn’t stop him and our offense couldn’t do squat! It was a tough loss at home, but crazy things happen”

SEAHAWKS HEAD INTO BYE 2ND IN NFC WEST.

Seattle trails 1st place San Francisco by 1 game; thanks to the 49ers slim victory week 1 in Seattle. Seattle has been red hot; scoring over 30 points in consecutive games to head into their bye week on a high note. They are 3-1 overall and will use this time to rest their banged up team and prepare for a road test in Soldier Field against the dominant defense of the Chicago Bears.

Kyle Boller spoke to the media, “I need to play better. I have thrown costly interceptions to take points away from us. I just need to play better; see the field better.”

BEARS GET DECLAWED AND DOUBLED UP

Neither team got going offensively at the start. The weather was overcast and gloomy. Chicago got a field goal late in the first to go up 3-0 after one.

The second quarter Seattle punted a few times and their defense let another big play happen as Matt Forte took an innocent swing pass the distance of 88 yards to go up 10-0. Seattle answered on their next possession they went 70 yards, in 10 plays to score on a 16 yard pass to Houshmandzadeh to cut it to a 10-7 deficit. The defense turned up the pressure as they blitzed Cutler a few times. The first time he escaped and got a pass off and completed. The second time he was not so lucky. Brandon Mebane got to him and delivered a big hit causing a fumble. Walter Thurmond was there to scoop and run it back 33 yards to take the lead 14-10. The offense would not look back after that.

After halftime it was all Seattle offense. Kyle Boller connected from 15 and 14 yards; to Smith and Lynch respectively. The dense contributed to shine as they **** out the Bears in the third quarter.

It wasn’t until the 1:32 mark of the fourth quarter when Aromashdou got behind the defense and scored on an untouched 64 yard touchdown to make it 31-17. Mare added a field goal for the Hawks as time expired to add ‘salt to the wound’ with a final score of 34-17.

                    SAN FRANCISCO STILL UNBEATEN

San Francisco still unbeaten at 6-0 after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly. San Francisco sits atop the NFC West with a 2 game lead over the Seattle Seahawks and some in the media are beginning to speak of ‘perfect season’.

Their coach has stated “We are taking it one game at a time. Our first goal is to win the division. Then work on winning the SuperBowl.”

HIGH SCORING AFFAIR ENDS WITH NARROW VICTORY, 41-38

Both teams started out slow like a diesel engine. Arizona got the scoring going half way with a field goal. Seattle’s next possession let open the floodgates as both teams would torch the opposing defenses. Marshawn Lynch took the second play of their drive 77 yard down the right sideline as he broke multiple tackles to find pay dirt. Arizona then answered bag with a big play of their own as Matt Leinart connected with Ben Patrick for a 53 yard score as he broke a few tackles of his own to go up 10-7.

Seattle answered back as they went 88 yards on 12 plays and scored as Boller threw a 16 yard pass to Shaun McDonald to go up 14-10 after the first quarter. Arizona then retook the lead after Leinart connected to Breaston for a 44 yard score. Seattle then answer as they went on a 12 play, 88 yard drive as Boller grew a 16 yard touchdown to McDonald. Arizona then took their next drive 66 yards in 5 plays and retook the lead at 24-21. Seattle would score before halftime as Lynch found a seam and went 66 yards to the house to go up 28-24 at half.

After the half, the Hawks gave up back-to-back sacks and were forced to punt. Arizona with excellent field position were unable to get any points as the Hawks defense showed a glimpse of showing up. On Seattle’s next drive the weirdest play happened. They drove down the field. Fargas took the ball right and got 5 yards before Calais Campbell knocked the ball loose. He had it for a few seconds as he tried to advance the ball before big Winston Justice laid a big hit and knocked it from him. Rob Gronkowski grabbed the ball and stumbled his way into a touchdown score to go up 35-24.

Arizona wouldn’t give up as Leinart started to drive down. He took a big hit as he let go of the ball and would get up with a limp arm. Tests would come tomorrow to find out the severity of the injury.

Backup Derek Anderson came in and took over and continued the aerial assault. Breaston was covered by Cason. Cason tried to swat the ball but mistimed the jump as Breaston caught it at the high point. He made Weddle miss and walked in for the touchdown. Olindo Mare would add a field goal late in the quarter to make it a 7 point lead heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter the Hawks defense showed up in flashes. It was holding until the Cards scored at the 8:30 mark. Seattle and Arizona traded punts. Seattle would drive down the field and chew up clock as they went. With :38 seconds left, Seattle would kick a field goal; the eventual game winner. With no timeouts, Arizona could t advance the ball to attempt a game tying kick of their own.

Neither coach could muster any words to describe this game. All they could muster was “Wow” and “Damn”.

Seattle travels to the Black Hole of Oakland to face off against their old AFC rivals the Raiders.

Tests were done on Matt Leinart. Diagnosis is Matt Leinart will be out 3-5 weeks with fractured arm.

SAN FRANCISCO SUFFERS FIRST LOSS, BUT SEATTLE OFFENSE GETS SUCKED INTO BLACK HOLE

San Francisco suffers their first blemish on their record as the offense falls flat at home versus the Denver Broncos. Neither team score a touchdown as Denver kicker Matt Prater kicks 4 field goals to victory as the Denver defense only gives up 2 field goals.

Seattle found out this news before their kickoff versus Oakland. Too bad today was the game they decided to forget how to score. The Seattle defense stood strong as they shut out Oakland in the first quarter. The Hawks score first after Marshawn Lynch scored from 1 yard out after Antoine Cason picked off Jason Campbell. Halftime came with Seattle leading 7-0.

Seattle took the ball first coming out of the break. Seattle’s offensive line gave up two quick sacks, and were forced to punt right away. Seattle held well for two plays, but couldn’t force a punt as Campbell threw a ball to Murphy on slant route who shook a tackle and spun out of another to go in for a 52 yard touchdown. Oakland forced another punt, and then took it down the field as Schilens scores from 9 yards out.

Seattle could t get much going, but got a field goal with 8 minutes to go in the game to make it a 14-10 game. Their defense couldn’t get another stop, but worse yet gave up two big touchdowns. A 52 yard bomb to Schilens and an 88 yard bomb to Murphy.

Seattle gets routed 28-10 in the end. Pete Carroll said after the game, “Our offensive line played horrible. We weren’t ready for the game. Oakland pushed us around and we weren’t as physical as they were. We didn’t deserve to win. We will prepare for a battle to host the Giants. ”

SEATTLE DEFENSE KEEP GIANTS AT BAY

Both defenses played well. New York didn’t give up any points until Marshawn Lynch escaped for a 39 yard score at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw more action at the end as Steve Smith caught a fade route by Manning to toe up the game. Seattle answered with a :34, 4 play drive as Boller tossed a ball to Alex Smith who broke a tackle and went in to make it a 14-7 game. New York tried to be aggressive and punted. Seattle added a field goal to make it 17-7. The Hawks defense who have given up big plays game after game did so again. Hakeem Nocks got behind Cason and torched him for 88 yards with :18 seconds to go to make it 17-14. Greg Camarillo watched what Nicks did and did the same. He burned the Giants’ secondary and broke a tackle and scored a 78 yard touchdown as time expired to make it a 24-14 game at the half.

That’s all the offense however as both defenses said ‘no more’ and proceeded to shut both teams out of any scoring for the entire half.

Coach Coughlin stared after the game, “We had our chances, but we came up short today. We need to execute better if we want to make a playoff run.”

As one can see, San Francisco leads the way by a single game for NFC top seed. Right on their heals in a 3 way tie are Atlanta, Minnesota and Seattle. It looks like the back half of he season will be ripe with drama and intrigue and teams battle it out for the playoff. Even the lowly New Orleans Saints are eliminated, but backup Chase Daniel will have to put in work in order to salvage their season.

                              A TALE OF TWO HALFS

Arizona put a game plan in place to limit the bowling ball named Marshawn Lynch. The first half belonged to Arizona as they scored a field goal in the first quarter. Then towards the end of the half Chris Wells ran in for a 2 yard score. Arizona was in a commanding 10-0 lead.

The second half was all Seahawks however. Seattle went down the field but had to settle for a field goal. On the ensuing kickoff, Stephens-Howling coughed up the ball that Bruce Davis recovered. Boller tossed a pretty ball in the corner of the endzone to Alex Smith. It got tipped but he stayed with it and reeled it in for the game tying score.

The real news was when Lofa Tutupu went to stop Wells from scoring, that he stayed down after the play. Tests to come on the star linebacker. Matt Leinart then threw an interception in the endzone as the Hawks defense stood y’all.

Rob Gronkowski was the recipient of Boller’s 4 yard pass as they went 80 yards in 14 plays. Olindo Mare added a field goal late to put the game out of reach. Arizona refuses to give up as Early Doucet caught a ball, which Marcus Trufant picked up. Lendale White added a score as time expired to add salt to the wound. Final score was Seattle 27 - Arizona 10
