SEATTLE PUTS ON AIR SHOW AS CLAYBROOKS—MOORE CONNECTION ROUTS LIONS

The Seattle Seahawks defense was non existent this game as they let the Lions rookie quarterback throw for over 450 yards against them. If it wasn’t for the game put on my Claybrooks and Moore, the Hawks would have surly lost the game. Coach Carroll studied tape of Carlos Rodgers and noticed that he had lost a step and was in the ‘declining’ phase of his career. With the true #2, Jake George still out due to injury he put his fastest guy in Moore on that side of the field. Boy did it pay dividends time and time again. The quarterback and wide receiver duo burned Rodgers all day long.

They each broke records, Claybrooks for most passing yards in a game and Moore for most receiving yards in a game.

After the game Claybrooks and Moore joined the podium together and were shocked at what they had done.

“I wasn’t even keeping track to be honest. The Lions kept scoring, and I was just trying to keep pace” — Claybrooks

“After the first pair of touchdowns, I had a feeling it was going to be a special day. That’s not a slight against Carlos, it was just my day today is all. I’m sure that there will come a day, that the cornerback has my number all game long. I’m just happy we won the game, we needed it to stay close with the rest of our division” — Moore

SEATTLE DEFENSE DE-CLAWS BEARS AS OFFENSE PUTS ON AIR SHOW

The Seattle defense was more than a match for the Chicago offense. The forced Chicago into a 3 and out, and pressured their punter into fumbling the snap giving the Seattle their first possession on the 6 yard line. Marshawn Lynch ran it in two plays later.

Chicago and Seattle trades punts, but Seattle scored again when Claybrooks found Smith in the corner of the end zone on a post route. Chicago finally got on the board towards the end of the first after Claybrooks tossed it into double coverage and rookie Deunta Sanders picked him off. Chicago got their only points of the game via a field goal.

Seattle then went back to dominating on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Seattle forced a Kyle Orton fumble in the second quarter, and turned it into a 38 yard field goal.

During the third quarter, Marcus Trufant picked off Orton and Karney was the recipient of a 2 yard toss and score. Seattle added one more points in the final quarter to route the Bears by a final score of 41-3.

“We played team ball out there, everybody contributed to the win. We still trail the 49ers by a game, but we are playing solid football right now” — Coach Carroll

“I was seeing the field well. I can’t throw into double coverage, because the result will be more negative than positive. I’ll be ready for Buffalo next week and study up to limit the bad choices” — Ray Claybrooks

“It was nice to get to the quarterback and drag him down. It’s a great feeling to have all that hard work and preparation pay off” — Mike Patterson

NEW OPPONENT BUT SAME OUTCOME AS SEAHAWKS BEAT BILLS

The Seattle defense puts on a display as Seattle’s offense fuels another blowout victory.

The Seattle defense gave up a meager field goal towards the end of the first quarter. The defense harassed rookie signal caller Eddie Barnes all afternoon. The defense dragged the rookie to the ground twice, and Marcus Trufant got his second interception in as many games as he grabbed a tipped ball as Eddie Barnes tried to ‘thread the needle’.

Seattle offense was firing on all cylinders as Coach Carol gambled three times on 4 down with inches to go. Two touchdowns came on the feet of Ray Claybrooks on quarterback sneaks to start the scoring and help put the game out of reach by halftime.

Ray Claybrooks was solid with his arm too, by spreading the ball around to multiple receivers. He was knocked out of the game halfway through the 4th quarter and would be evaluated after the game, but Alex Smith tossed a score to Arrington to cap off the scoring onslaught by the Hawks.

“We are now tied with the 49ers four our division and next week will go a long way to determining who takes the NFC West this year. It should be a showdown like past years” — Coach Carroll

“I will be ready if Claybrooks cannot go next week. As long as the team is winning, that’s my main goal” — Alex Smith

RAY CLAYBROOKS SUFFERS PCL BRUISE, BUT SHAUN CODY SUFFERS TORN GROIN IN WIN

The Seattle Seahawks avoided a scare as superstar quarterback Ray Claybrooks only suffered a PCL bruise and will take the next week of reps lightly in order to heal up before next weeks tilt versus the 49ers.

Shaun Cody suffered a torn groin during the blowout victory and will be sidelined for the next 3-5 weeks for the groin to properly heal.

Due to needing a better return game, Seattle released Kelvin Adams, who was third on the depth chart for Centers. This created a spot for Wide Receiver LaVelle Hawkins out of California for $1.0M over 1 year.

“He’s very fast, and I’m sure he will help us over the course of the year. I wish Kelvin all the best” — GM Schneider

CLAYBROOKS HAS HORRIBLE NIGHT, BUT DEFENSE SHUTS DOWN SAN FRANCISCO TO TAKE NFC WEST LEAD

Ray Claybrooks has the worst game of his young career, throwing a staggering 9 interceptions. David Garrard was only able to throw three passes, before he took a hard hit and had to leave the game, sending in the backup. Garrard didn’t return to the game, leaving the backup to flounder versus the Seattle defense.

Luckily for Claybrooks, he tossed two touchdown passes in the evening, one to Lynch and the other Gronkowski. Marcus Trufant kept up his opportunistic defense by taking an interception of Devon Glenn back to the house for a 25 yard touchdown interception. The Hawks had a commanding lead of 30-0, then Claybrooks made his second interception on the night as Dashon Goldson who ran it back for a 50 pick-6. That’s the only points scored by San Francisco as Seattle got a safety in the fourth as the game ended with a blowout win 36-7.

“I played with fire and got burned. Our defense kept all the turnovers in check as I certainly wasn’t helping our team today. It could have easily been a different game” — Ray Claybrooks

“Maybe his PCL was bothering him, he looked okay, but we will re-evaluate him this week to make sure he is okay for next week” — Coach Carroll

SEAHAWKS PULL OUT OVERTIME WIN DESPITE LACK OF DEFENSE

The Seattle defense was ranked dead last heading into the week 6 tilt versus the New England Patriots. Quarterback Ray Claybrooks had spots of brilliance and spots of utter lack of vision.

Neither team scored until the second quarter when Claybrooks found Arrington on a little swing route for an easy pitch and catch. New England responded with a 2 play drive as Burnsides found rookie Williams burning down the sideline for a 78 yard catch and run touchdown to even the score. Settle then put in offensive work as as Claybrooks found tight end Gronkowski and wideout Moor for back to back scores of 38 and 32 yards respectively. Seattle went into halftime up 21-7.

Seattle got the ball to start the second half, but Claybrooks didn’t see the linebacker Jones in the flat who picked off his first throw of the half and ran in back for the 37 yard score to make it 21-14. Seattle and New England exchanged punts, but Nedney knocked in a field goal to make it 21-17. Seattle tacked on their own field goal in response to make it 24-17, and Gronkowski got his second touchdown before the end of the 3rd quarter to make it a 31-17.

The Seattle defense couldn’t stop New England from advancing the ball and the Patriots scored early in the final quarter on a 69 yard catch and run to Edelman. Seattle’s defense put up not 1, but 2 defense goal-line stands to protect their lead with under 2 minutes to go. Their defense gave up the game tying touchdown with 30 seconds in regulation as Burnsides found White, down the left seam as he blew by defenders.

In overtime, Seattle got the ball. Moore was found down the sideline for a big 45 yard gain, and the Seattle running game got chunks of yardage as a Nichols knocked home the 20 field goal to secure the victory in a thrilling fashion.

                              Final score: Seahawks 31 - Patriots 31

After the game, Claybrooks spoke about he decision making to the media, “I’ve got to make better decisions and see the field better. The rest of the team bailed me out, and the competition from here on out is going to get tougher by the week. Come playoff time, there will no room for error”

SEATTLE RUNS OVER ARIZONA IN A CLOSE DIVISIONAL GAME

It was a rainy, dreary day in Seattle as the Arizona Cardinals came into town for their first meeting of the football year. Arizona had 5 quarterbacks on their roster at the time of kickoff...which would explain their 1-5 start on the year. Meanwhile, Claybrooks would see if he could right the ship compared to last week’s, interception plagued game.

Claybrooks, would stone for the vast mistakes he made, by starting the game 8-8 as he marched the Hawks down the field for a touchdown capped off by Marshawn Lynch’s 10 yard run up the gut.

In the second quarter Arizona would get a field goal towards the beginning of the quarter, and Seattle responded by scoring again as Lynch ran in to the right side for a 3 yard score to go up 14-3. Seattle’s defense once again let a big play happen as wideout Watson caught the ball for a minimal gain, but lack of wrap-up tackles and a burst of speed he went 76 yard for the score to pull within 4, at 14-10.

The third quarter only saw a touchdown scored by Arizona, as Patrick caught a 29 yard toss as Arizona went into the fourth quarter ahead 17-14.

The Seattle offense was anemic for much of the fourth as it wasn’t until there was a tick under 5 minutes to go when Lynch plunged into the endzone from 1-yard to go ahead 21-17. Nichols added a field goal with 1-minute left in regulation to push it to a 24-17 lead. Mike Patterson came up clutch as he sacked Arizona’s quarterback Smith to help the clock run out to ensure there was not a repeat of the Patriot game and overtime.

Ray Claybrooks was efficient on the day, going 23-37, throwing for 296 yards. He didn’t throw any touchdowns, but also didn’t throw any interceptions. Marshawn Lynch was the star of the game, totaling 126 yards on 26 attempts and scoring 3 touchdowns, but also coughing it up once; the offense recurved it though.

Next week, Seattle travels to Green Bat to face off with the Packers. The Packers are down some key players in Lito Sheppard, Nick Collins, Pro Bowl Greg Jennings; whom are out for multiple weeks. Fearsome linebacker Lance Briggs in questionable and he will be needed to deal with the like of Lynch and Gronkowski who will exploit the middle of the field if given the chance.
