LAMBEAU FIELD AURA CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTIM AS PACKERS ROUTE SEAHAWKS 34-17

Each team had a stud, young quarterback at the helm in this showdown. Packers rookie quarterback Lester Flowers was anything but spectacular in the game, while Ray Claybrooks was the extreme opposite.

The game started well for the Seahawks as Mike Karney capped off a 14 play drive with a 1 yard touchdown plunge to take an early lead. Green Bay answered right back with a very efficient 6 play drive as veteran Harry Douglas scored on a 9 yard pass play, his first touchdown of two on the day.

The second quarter was all Green Bay as they scored twice after Seattle got a field goal about half way through the quarter. Braylon Edwards scored on a go route from 50 yards and Harry Douglas got his second on a 44 yard post route to make their lead 21-10 going into halftime.

Seattle was unable to make any adjustments as Ray Claybrook threw three interceptions after halftime, which Green Bat turned into points. Despite Marshawn Lynch getting a 9 yard score as he took a wheel route, Green Bay added 13 more points in the second half and shut down the high powered Seahawks offense to stun Hawks Nation.

Ray Claybrooks looked dejected after the game at the press conference. “All the credit goes to the other team, I didn’t play like a first round pick today. It’s clear I’m still a kid among adults and I’ll work harder and prepare better for next week against the Panthers”

HAWK’S WIN IN CAROLINA WITH DEFENSIVE STAND

Seattle showed up, ready to play inspiring football. Their defense showed up, but so do their offense. The defense shut out the Panthers for their first quarter of two drives. Seattle’s offense was efficient and scored twice. The first on a pass to Gronkowski down the middle for a 21-yard score. The second as Lynch ran right for a 2-yard scamper to go up 14-0 after one.

The second, Seattle gave up a monstrous run by DeAngelo Williams who broke 4 tackles on his way to a 79-yard touchdown to cut the lead in half. Seattle would score before the half, as Lance Moore caught the defense napping and ran right by the defender and caught a 44-yard score as the defender couldn’t make up the ground.

Seattle tried to put the game away towards the end of the third, as JJ Arrington took the ball right, broke a tackle, made another 2 miss as he outran everyone to give the Hawks a 28-7 lead with his own 84-yard score.

Carolina tried to make a game, at the midway mark of the fourth as the Panthers scored, but the Hawk defense shut them out for the remaining 6:30 and won by a final score of 28-14.

Ray Claybrooks was so-so. He tossed 2 touchdowns, but had 3 interceptions on the day. It was Lynch and Arrington who propelled the Hawks to victory. They both had over 100 yard rushing on the day. Next week the Hawks host their division rivals the San Francisco 49ers.

HAWK’S HOLD OFF LATE RALLY ON LEGS OF LYNCH

The weather was rainy and dreary for the afternoon game between the 49ers and Seahawks. The game started off just as dreary, as Pollak was called for holding the defender in the endzone to give the visiting 49ers a free safety and the ball back. The Seahawks defense buckled down and held the 49ers scoreless for the rest of the quarter. The Hawks offense was held scoreless as well thanks to the field conditions.

Seattle’s offense got humming in the second quarter, as JJ Arrington scored on a 4-yard pass to the flat. They then followed it up before the end of the half as Jeff George scored on a go route down the left hash for a 33-yard score. Nichols shanked the PAT to take a 13-2 lead.

Seattle got the ball after the break and got a field goal on their opening drive. The Seattle defense held the 49ers scoreless on their two possessions and the offense added a 1-yard Lynch dive to go up 23-2 heading into the final quarter.

San Francisco scored early in the fourth, but also pushed a PAT wide left to be down 23-8. The Seattle offense was sputtering and couldn’t convert at all. San Francisco scored again with under 3 minutes to go to make it a one score game after making a 2-pt conversion; 23-16. The offense got the ball back, and proceeded to run out the clock as Lynch got chunk yards.

Ray Claybrooks was back to his efficient self as he tossed for almost 300 yards with 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Seattle would finally head back hole to host a Miami Dolphins team who were looking to make a playoff push for the first time in decades.

DEFENSE PICKS UP SLACK AS CLAYBROOKS HAS A 4-INTERCEPTION GAME

The Seattle defense showed up versus the visiting Dolphins. Both defenses held their opponents scoreless in the first quarter. Seattle got on the board early in the second as Lance Moore caught an 11-yard score. Lynch followed it up a few drives later by diving in from 1-yard. Slaton took his next possession for Miami, went straight through the heart of the defense and broke off a 70-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 14-7. Seattle then responded before halftime as Claybrooks threw a pass intended for Lynch, which got tipped, but Ochocinco was right there to reel it in for the 3-yard score to go up 21-7.

After halftime, Claybrooks wasn’t safe as he threw into double coverage. Miami’s Smith picked him off then avoided the slew of defenders chasing him for a 87-yard pick-6, making it 21-14.

The fourth quarter was all Seahawks they the scored twice to put the game out of reach. The first score was Arrington has he barely crossed the goal line. The second as Miami’s defense forgot about Ochocinco and he went down the sideline for a 44-yard score. The Seattle defense gave up a late touchdown to Miami, but recovers the onside kick and knelt the ball to end the game.

Claybrooks was like Jekyll and Hyde. He threw for 3 touchdowns but also 4 interception in the victory. The Seahawks play host next week to the Dallas Cowboys in a new rivalry that has formed over the past couple seasons.

Coach Carrol spoke about his young quarterback after the game, “He will learn from the mistakes. It’s not like he’s McNabb or Brady who’ve been in the league for decades. We pulled it off this week and we will look to clean things up next week”

SEATTLE DROPS 53 TO BLOWOUT COWBOYS

Seattle’s offensive more that had been prevalent the past 4 weeks was a thing of the past. Both teams were evenly matched for the first half. Jason Witten, Mr. Reliable got the the first points of the game as he caught a 6-yard pass from Tony Romo. Seattle responded with a 7 play drive as Lance Moore Burned his defender up the sideline for a 44-yard score. At the end of the first Tony Romo sneaked it over the goal line on a quarterback draw. The kicker shanked the PAT so they had a 13-7 lead.

The second quarter the Seattle defense shined as Antonio Pierce tackled Frank Gore in the endzone for a safety. Seattle then tacked on a field goal before the end of the half to go into the locker room down by 1...13-12.

The third quarter saw the Hawk offense and defense come alive. Their defense got the points flowing as Antoine Cason picked off Toby Romo and ran it back for a 27-yard pick-6 as Lynch added a 2-pt conversion. The offense followed it up as Gronkowski was found from 6 yards out. Lance Moore scored on a 44-yard pass up the sideline. The quarter was capped off as Arrington plunged in from 1-yard out.

The fourth quarter saw the Cowboys try to mount an epic comeback being down 41-13. Dallas managed to score 10 more points, but not before Seattle tacked on 14 more points. Lynch got a 1-yard score up the guy and Ochocinco was left all alone for a 64-yard pitch and catch. The final score was 54-23.

Ray Claybrooks was in former MVP form as he tossed for over 500 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Hawks would travel to St. Louis to face a tough rival.

CLAYBROOKS HAS FORGETTABLE NIGHT AS HE IS BENCHED IN 48-21 BLOWOUT LOSS TO RAMS

Ray Claybrooks had a night to forget as he had his worst ever game as a starting quarterback in the National Football League. He started by throwing a interception to James Laurinaitis on his third pass attempt of the game. The Rams turned it into a touchdown 2 plays later as Bradford found Jackson for a 39-yard strike. Two plays into his next drive, Claybrooks overshot his tight end Smith, and Devlin grabbed it and ran it back 79-yard to push their lead to 14-0.

Seattle finally got on the board towards the end of the first quarter as Moore caught a 14-yard curl route and spun out of a tackle and ran it the rest of the way for a 69-yard score to pull to 7-14.

The second quarter was much of the same as Claybrooks tossed two more interceptions which St. Louis turned into a pair of field goals to go up 20-7. Claybrooks then threw his second pick-6 as Goodman hovered in the flat and snagged a ball aimed at Karney and ran it back the 30-yards to go up 27-7.

At this point Coach Carroll benched Claybrook and put in the veteran Alex Smith. Smith tossed a beautiful ball to Moore for his second touchdown as he burned his cornerback for a 44-yard bomb, making the score 27-14

St. Louis kept scoring seemingly at will, all the while their defense was continuing to stifle the Hawk’s usually high powered offense. The Rams added a pair of scores by running back Jackson and wideout Avery making the game a bigger beat down 41-14. Lynch plunged in to make it 41-21.

The final quarter the Hawks were held out, but the Rams added on a safety and a field goal...making the final score 48-21.

After the game, Claybrooks spoke about the benching, “It just had to be done. The Rams had my number, all game long. Coach thought I needed to take a seat and collect myself, and help Alex Smith. I can’t dwell on it too long, as we travel to New York to face off with the Jets”

              ——

Young DT, Biff Young suffered a season ending injury in the second quarter. He tore his abdominal muscle and would be sidelined for 12 weeks to recover after surgery. Seattle placed him in IR, and signed Fili Moala back for a second time to a basic 1-year deal worth $1.0 M + 110K bonus to replace Biff.

JETS HOLD ON FOR NARROW VICTORY TO KEEP PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE

The Jets’ defense was very much ‘bend-don’t-break’ versus the Seahawks on the afternoon. Seattle got a field goal on their opening drive, but their defense couldn’t hold Mark Sanchez and Jamal Charles in check as they gave up a touchdown before the end of the quarter.

The second quarter was New York’s as McKnight ran it in from 4-yards to go up 14-3.

The Seattle offense came alive in the third as they scored twice. Gronkowski caught a 3-yard toss, then the right end Alex Smith caught a 15-yard post route, broke a few tackles and ran it in for the 61-yard score. The bad news, was Claybrooks threw an interception to the Jets’ Coleman who took it back 68 yards for the tide changing pick-6. The Jets led 21-17 entering the fourth quarter.

Seattle took the lead, 24-21 early in the fourth as Lynch caught a 9-yard swing pass. New York responded by going 12-plays, 80 yards as the veteran Jericho Cotchery caught a 7 yard pass to go ahead 28-24. Ray Claybrooks failed to see Derrelle Revis in the flat who pick grabbed the ball and ran it back for another pick-6. This would be the deciding points.

Settle tried to mount a late comeback and scored as Shaun McDonald caught a 6 yard pass as Lynch pounded in the 2-point conversion to be down 35-32. They got the ball back with no timeouts and couldn’t get within game tying field goal distance as they fell to the Jets 35-32.

Ray Claybrooks spoke about his recent play after the game, “I have to see the field better. If I keep playing at this level we won’t go far in the playoffs, and there will be nobody to blame but myself. I’ll try to forgot today and focus my efforts on going into Arizona next week.

SEATTLE CRUISES PAST ARIZONA IN PURSUIT OF FIRST ROUND BYE WITH 28 POINT WIN

Seattle’s offense was firing on all cylinders from the kickoff, and their defense finally showed up to play from start to finish too.

Seattle got the scoring started early as Claybrooks tossed his first touchdown to Gronkowski from 7-yard to go up 7-0. After forcing a punt, Lynch ran it in from 4-yard to take a 14-0 lead. They weren’t finished though as Claybrooks found George on a go route for a 44-yard bomb to take a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

Arizona got on the board finally with the first possession of the second quarter as former Seahawk Senaca Wallace found Steve Breaston for a 29-yard score to make it 21-7. Seattle then added more touchdowns before the half as Lynch ran it in from 2-yards and Claybrooks added his own 1-yard plunge to go up big at halftime...35-7.

The Cardinals added a pair of field goals in the second half, but Seattle matched with a pair of their own. The final score was 41-13.

Coach Carroll spoke after the game, “Claybrooks watched a lot of video and tape on his mechanics and how he saw the field. The studying paid off as he threw the ball well, accurately, and made all the right plays. We clinched the division, all that is left is to clinch a first round bye. We can do that with a win next week versus the Vikings at home.”

SEATTLE DEFENSE INTERCEPTS DONOVAN MCNABB THREE TIMES AS THEY CLINCH FIRST ROUND BYE IN MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FINALE

Seattle got the ball, and got the first points of the game as Gronkowski was covered by a linebacker. Claybrooks found him for a 27-yard bullet of a pass down the right hash. Nichols then added a field goal, but the electric Percy Harvin torched the Hawk’s special teams as he ran it back 99-yards on the ensuing kickoff to pull with 3 points at 10-7. Minnesota got a field goal as the first quarter ended to make it a tied game at 10.

Chad Ochocinco got the only points by either team in the second quarter as he was left all alone as Minnesota tried to blitz Claybrooks. Claybrooks tossed a light, airy ball which Ochocinco easily caught and went in untouched for a 79-yard score to go in half with a 17-10 lead.

Minnesota’s Percy Harvin tried his best to keep them in it, as he caught a 9-yard pass from Donovan McNabb to tie the game game again at 17 all. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the winner separated themselves from the loser.

Seattle closed out the game with 14 unanswered points in the fourth. It started as Claybrooks called his own number on a quarterback creak after driving 80 yards. Claybrooks then caused great tension as he threw an interception to Brice Johnson who ran it back an improbable 95-yard for the pick-6 with 7:52 left in the game to tie it again at 24 all. Seattle then put the game out of reach as Gronkowski caught a 22-yard pass from Claybrooks and Maurice Morris over the game with under 2 minutes on a 1-yard plunge.

With the victory, they clinched a first round bye, with a regular season record of 12-4. Ray Claybrooks finished the season with over 5000 passing yards and 45+ touchdowns.

SEATTLE OFFENSE ANEMIC IN EARLY PLAYOFF EXIT TO PANTHERS STOUT DEFENSE

The Seattle Seahawks defense had no answer for Vince a young and the offensive juggernaut of the Panthers. The Carolina Panthers went into the game with a plan to control the clock, which they did with expert running.

Despite the Seahawks getting on the board first as Lewis Moore catching a 10-yard pass, it was all Carolina. Yin was You g scrambled up the sideline for a 5-yard touchdown, and then followed it up by tossing a score to Anthony Sullivan for a 26-yard score to put them ahead 14-7 after the first quarter.

The veins quarter was much of the same, as Shaun McDonald scored early to tie the game at 14, after he caught a 5-yard fade route. Then it was the DeAngelo Williams show as ‘toted the rock’ 6 times en route to a 7-yard touchdown run to give them a 21-14 lead going into halftime.

The Panthers got all the scoring in the second half as Vince Young and DeAngelo Williams combined for 3 of the 4 second half touchdowns. Williams got a 2-yard run. And Young followed it up with a 19-yard and 7-yard run before he added a 9-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith Sr to make the final blowout...49-14.

After the game, Carroll and Claybrooks spoke to the media. “They whipped our butts on defense. That’s all I can say” spoke Carroll. “I can’t win them all, even if I’d like to. We will be back next year and hopefully for years to come” spoke Claybrooks.

                          OFFSEASON COACHING CAROUSEL

The Washington Redskins were eyeballing the Hawks defensive coordinator, Sanders. The offered him a chance to be their Head Coach in hopes to bring them a championship winning pedigree. The Seahawks looked at the contract offered and to other potential candidates to fill the void should Sanders sign with Washington.

They looked strongly at longtime coach, Bill Belichick whom was available. He was known around the league as one of if not the smartest minds in football. After much deliberation by Jon Schneider, contract offer was extended to Bill Belichick for 2 years, $3.35M to become their new defensive coordinator. He accepted and he said he was “excited to coach up some young talented guys in their prime”.

                                FREE AGENCY RECAP

The two-time Super Bowl Seahawks had some decisions to make early on into the offseason. They had two role players up for Restricted Free Agency: cornerback Walter Thurmond III & tight end Anthony McCoy. The offered Thurmond a 1year deal worth $1.55M, but Oakland was willing to give him a 3-year deal worth $7.35M + 750K in bonus cash. In return they would have to ship over their 4th overall pick in the fourth round.

While debating that, Seattle offered Anthony McCoy the same 1-year deal for $1.55M. This time the Denver Broncos really wanted McCoy as they offered him a 3-year deal for $4.38M + 660K in bonus. Seattle would get back the 29th pick in round 6 however.

They looked over their roster and both players were third on the depth chart of their respective positions. Jon Schneider felt that they could pick up replacements either during free agency that was about to commence or during the draft. Both players were allowed to sign the contracts offered by the competing teams as were given well wishes on their new teams.
