ROOKIE XAVIER ARDEN TO MISS 5-7 WEEKS WITH TORN HAMSTRING

Xavier Arden suffered a torn hamstring in the victory over the Rams. He was going in for a tackle, and over extended himself, and suffered the injury and was carted off the field as a result.

He had yet to record a tackle or any stats prior to the injury. He was third on the depth chart behind Pro Bowler Tremain Forbes and up-and-coming star John Wade.

“I’ll come back and continue to work hard, and improve every practice to help our team in any way I can” — Xavier Arden

The Hawks will face the Arizona Cardinals coming off their bye week. Arizona is 1-2, and in last place in the NFC West, while Seattle and San Francisco are both 2-1 and co-leading the division.

SEATTLE HANGS ON FOR 30-22 VICTORY AS DEFENSE FORCES 4 TURNOVERS

Seattle’s defense was very much ‘bend-don’t-break’ versus the Cardinals in Arizona. Seattle offense was going early as Claybrooks found Wolford for the 1-yard score to go up 7-0 early at 7:33. Nichols added a field goal at 5:56 of the first and Claybrooks ended the first quarter with a 6-yard pass to Clay on a quick slant at 1:35 to go up 17-0 after the first.

Seattle offense became stagnant in the second quarter as no points were scored. Arizona finally got on the board at :52 of the second quarter as Moore found Watson for a 25-yard score to go into the locker room down 17-7.

Seattle kicked off to start the second half, as Thomas was like lightning and outran the entire Seahawk defense for the amazing 98-yard kick return touchdown. Arizona trailed 17-14. Seattle responded by going 80-yards in 4 plays as Claybrooks found Gronkowski for the 12-yard score at 9:16. Seattle and Arizona defenses picked up their game to keep each other off the scoreboard going into the final quarter.

Seattle put up a pair of field goals at 11:35 and 5:32 to push the lead to 30-14. Arizona refused to give up as Moore scrambled to the left after being flushed from the pocket. He ran for his life, and managed to score on a 28-yard scramble to make it a 30-22 game after he converted the 2-point attempt.

Seattle would never surrender the ball, as Calvin Wallace put the game away after getting a trio of first down runs to ice the game.

Ray Claybrooks got the offensive game ball for his 28/49 for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns game

Benjamin Leon got the defensive game ball for his 9 tackles with 3 interceptions game

Next on the docket, would be the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco. Both teams are 3-1. San Francisco holds 1st in the division, and are the 3rd stingiest defense only allowing 56 points through 4 games.

Seattle will have their work cut out for them, as they’ve allowed a staggering 132 points allowed, good for last in the NFL.

SEATTLE ADDS RETURN DEPTH TO ROSTER

General Manager Schneider saw how anemic and nonproductive their return game was. He searched through files of potential fits, for their attitude and locker room chemistry. He narrowed it down to two people; 27-year old wide receiver Aric Harmon out of Utah. He last played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, but not the past two years. The other was 32-year old Reggie Bush from Carroll’s alma mater USC Trojans. Bush last played for Miami in 2016, but had a long list of nagging injuries on his rap sheet.

After consulting with Carroll, the team picked up Reggie Bush to be the sole refiner of kickoffs and punts, replacing Daryl Clay of that duty. It was only a 1-year deal worth $1.8M total, but Bush seemed excited for the opportunity.

“It’s great to be back with [Pete] Carroll. He helped to shape me into the man I became...and I am thrilled to be part of the Seahawk organization and contribute where I can. Special teams is what helped me get to the NFL and it will help me once more” — Reggie Bush on Hawks Nest 105.7

CLAYBROOKS LEADS SEAHAWKS TO COMEBACK VICTORY AFTER SUSTAINING INJURY

Ray Claybrooks was very efficient when he was in the game. He started the game going 4/8 on his first two drives that led to a pair of Nichols field goals to take an early 6-0 lead. With 7:02 left in the first quarter, Claybrooks found Erb on a little 1-yard touchdown pass to take a 13-0 lead. San Francisco responded on their next drive by finally getting points via a 1-yard run by Glover to cut the lead to 13-7. Benjamin Leon intercepted San Francisco on their next drive and got a touchback to prevent points being out up...little did he know that would’ve been the defensive play of the game.

          BENJAMIN LEON PICKING OFF ALFORD

The second quarter was not very kind to Seattle. Even though Claybrooks found Moore for a 30-yard score, the Hawks defense gave up 20 straight points to go into halftime down 20-27. The worst part was when Claybrooks got sacked by Ray Blackmon and suffered an elbow injury to his non-throwing arm and backup Chad Richards was thrust into the game about halfway through the quarter.

San Francisco started their scoring spree at 6:34 of the second when Alford found Jones on a 22-yard post route. At 5:19 they added a field goal after Richards was picked off. At the 3:28 mark, Alford connected with Jones again on a deep bomb down the left indelible for the 79-yard score. The scoring ended as another field goal was added with :06 to go in the half.

Seattle got the news during the break, that Claybrooks would miss a quarter or two with a deep elbow bruise, but he would try to work through it. Richards connected with Wallace for a nifty 30-yard score after he juked a defender out of his cleats at 10:43 of the third. Richards then found Clay on his own deep ball down the right hash for the 70-yard score; Seattle lead 34-27. The 49ers didn’t let those two scores scare them, as they kicked a field goal at 7:08, followed up by a 4-yard Erickson run at 3:01 to go up 37-34 as they entered the final quarter.

Richards was semi-effective in moving the ball downfield for the first series, but they had to punt. Seattle’s defense stepped up and made a pair of third down stops to get the ball back. Claybrooks said he was ready to reenter the game, and the medical staff cleared him.

Claybrook started his first fourth quarter drive by throwing a pair of incomplete passes and Seattle was forced to punt. Seattle’s defense stood strong, and forced San Francisco to punt again, as they failed to convert a 3rd & 1. Claybrooks then found his MVP form, by going 3/5 and finding Eugene Alvarado for the go ahead 62-yard score with 3:01 to go in the game.

Seattle forced San Francisco to punt and were pinned on their own 6-yard line with 1:59 to go. Calvin Wallace proceeded to gather 3 first downs en route to running out the clock to hold onto the 41-37 victory and sole possession of the NFC West lead.

Ray Claybrooks got the offensive game ball for his gritty 3 touchdown performance with 0 interceptions

Benjamin Leon for the defensive game ball for his quiet 6 tackles and early score saving 1 interception to keep them in the game.

MATT RYAN STAKES EARLY CLAIM TO NFL MVP AND A ROOKIE IS LEADING SACK LEADER

Matt Ryan, is the front runner to become league MVP, should he continue on his current pace. He leads the league in QBR at a staggering 109.5!! He’s 4th in yardage at 1,373; holds a 13:5 TD:INT, good for 3rd and tied for first in completion % at 69%. He has lead his team to a record of 5-1, sitting in 1st place of the NFC South and 2nd overall in the NFC.

Now the defensive side of the ball, is a different story. Rookie Adam Monroe out of Penn State is the current sacks leader at 10!! There are a pair of players at 8 sacks, and the only knock is Adam Monroe only has 14 tackles to his name at right end. Monroe looks to be on pace to CRUSH the rookie sack record set by Jevon “The Freak” Kearse back in 1999 at 14.5!!

BEARS DROP 55 ON SEAHAWKS DEFENSE TO CRUISE TO VICTORY

Seattle’s game at home versus the Bears was similar to the THUMPING they took in Jacksonville. The defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed and the offense was turnover prone...a recipe for disaster in the NFL.

The game started well as Seattle led 10-7 after the first. Nichols kicked a field goal at 7:52 to open the scoring, and then Claybrooks found Gronkowski for a 2-yard flip at 5:01 to take an early lead. Chicago responded as Jason Campbell found Greg Olson from 20-yard on a fly route to cut it to a 10-7 lead after the first.

The second quarter was more or less quiet for both teams. Chicago put a pair of field goals on the board at 8:19 and 3:09. The Bears defense held the Hawks scoreless to go into the locker room with a 13-10 lead.

The third quarter, the game got out of hand and Chicago essentially put the game away. Chicago scored at 10:16 as CJ Spiller ran it in from 2-yards, followed up as Olson found the end zone again from 18-yards to go up 27-10. Seattle put a field goal in at 6:21, but Chicago answered with their next possession. Chicago scored at 3:53 as Campbell found Omens for a 32-yard post route score following an interception by Deunta Sanders and Forte capped off the quarter as the clock hit :00 with a 2-yard rushing score. Chicago led 41-13 at this point.

Chicago added 14 points via a 49-yard Forte run at 8:01, then a 12-yard Spiller run at 5:16 to cap off the team effort of 55 points. Seattle added a garbage touchdown at 2:51 as Claybrooks found Gronkowski to give Seattle a meager 20 points total.

Seattle dropped to 4-2 on the year with the loss, and opened the door to the 49ers to get a game closer to the division lead.

SEATTLE RUSHES FOR OVER 250 YARDS IN VICTORY IN HOUSTON

The Seattle Seahawks came in as big time favorites versus the offensively challenged (1-5) Houston Texans. Oddsmakers put the Seahawks as (-10), and Seattle delivered on that bet handedly.

Seattle chose to defer to after the half. Patrick Chung intercepted the third pass tossed by 3rd stringer Texan quarterback J.J. Green. Seattle then went 70-yards, all 8 plays were rushes. Calvin Wallace scored on a 1-yard plunge. Seattle’s defense gave up 10, unanswered points via a field goal. Seattle’s Claybrooks tossed an interception, which was tipped. Houston then rushed one time as Knowshon Moreno for a 30-yard rushing touchdown to take an early 10-7 lead. Seattle, as time was nearing the end of the first, scored on a hitch route as Alvarado spun out of a tackle and scored a 55-yard touchdown to take a 14-10 lead after the first.

Seattle added a field goal with 1:04 to go in the half as Gaffney got his second rushing touchdown of his NFL career on a 7-yard scramble. The third quarter only saw a lone field goal by Nichols at 5:04 to push their led to 24-10. In the final quarter, Seattle scored twice. The first at 7:04 as Wolford took a swing pass right, bowled over a defender and ran it 20-yards for the score. The last score came at 1:05 left as Boyd ran it in for the touchdown to make it a final score of 35-10.

Ray Claybrooks was efficient going 15/21 for 252 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

Calvin Wallace got the offensive game ball for his 125 yards on 22 attempts

Lamar Sparks got the defensive game ball for his 2 tackles, 2 sack performance

Next up, the (5-3) Tennessee Titans come to Qwest Field to face the now (5-2) Seahawks.

TWO TEAMS UNDEFEATED THROUGH 8 WEEKS OF NFL SEASON

Both the Jacksonville Jaguars & Philadelphia Eagles both remain unbeaten through 8 weeks of grueling football.

The Jaguars boast the #2 scoring offense, right behind the Seahawks. The Jaguars are also tied for the 2nd best team in defensive takeaways at 10. They face the Pittsburgh Steelers next week to keep their undefeated season intact. Their most impressive victory on their resume to date was week 2, when the offense exploded for 65 points versus the Seahawks. The defense dominated week 4 holding the Texans to 3 measly points. They have a realistic shot to go undefeated as they only opponents left with a winning record are the (6-2) Ravens in week 11 and the current (6-2) Chiefs in week 16 under the light of MNF.

The Philadelphia Eagles may only have the 8th best offense in the league, but their overall defense isn’t to shabby at tied for 6th. They face the rival Redskins to keep their undefeated season going. The toughest matchup on paper would be week 11 when they travel to face the Seahawks at Qwest Field. Nobody would be shocked if they lost versus the Bears in week 10, or the Carolina Panthers in week 12 as the gauntlet wins one of the toughest on paper.

SEATTLE OFFENSE DOUBLES UP TITANS TO REMAIN ATOP NFC WEST

The Seattle Seahawk offense started as slow, as they were held scoreless in the first quarter. The Tennessee Titans offense managed to put up a field goal at 7:31 of the first to take a slim 3-point lead going into the second.

Seattle finally got going, as they put up a touchdown at 11:58 of the second. Calvin Wallace scored on a 4-yard run to put them ahead 7-3. Tennessee got another field goal at 3:53 to make it 7-6. Seattle was forced to punt, but Benjamin Leon was Johnny-on-the-spot as he undercut Johnny Knok, intercepted the ball and ran back the ball for the pick-6 at 1:34 of the second quarter to put them ahead 14-6. Tennessee wide receiver Ike Mills got behind everyone and scored on a back-breaking 59-yard touchdown on a 3rd-and-18 at :49 to go. The 2-pt try failed. Seattle had three timeouts, and one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Claybrooks orchestrated a brilliant 9 play drive to allow Nichols to kick in a field goal before the half to give Seattle a 17-12 lead.

Seattle’s defense shut out the Titan in the third quarter, as the offense put up a touchdown as Wallace got a 1-yard run at 7:58.

Seattle added a pair of Gaffney touchdown runs in the final frame, at 9:36 and 4:50 respectively. Johnny Knox scored on 8-yard pass, at 1:44 to make it a 38-19 score. Seattle recovered the onside kick, and easily ran out he clock as Tennessee conceded defeat on the day.

Calvin Wallace got the offensive game ball for his 76 yards rushing and 2 TDs

Benjamin Leon got the defensive game ball for his 6 tackles, 1 INT, 1 Def TD off the pick.

Next up, in week 10 is the St. Louis Rams at home. The Seahawks defeated the Rams in St. Louis in week 3 by a score of 66-17. Hopefully Seattle will have a repeat performance and outcome.

SEATTLE SWEEPS RAMS SERIES IN 30-20 VICTORY

The Seattle Seahawks were efficient from the kickoff. Claybrooks drove the team 80-yards in 8 plays to take an early 7-0 lead as he found Alvarado for the 18-yard score at the goal line. Seattle’s defense held the Rams scoreless in the first quarter, but their offense was also shut down for the remaining 8:06 of the first.

The Rams got on the board at 10:59, as they knocked home a field goal. Seattle and St. Louis exchanged punts, but Seattle added a long 63-yard bomb from Claybrooks to Clay at 3:44. Then with only :26 left in the first half, Gronkowski caught a 12-yard score, but the extra point was missed to the left. Seattle led 20-3 at the half.

After Seattle forced the Rams to punt on their opening 2nd half drive, Wolford ran it in from 2-yards at 7:33 to push the lead to 27-3. The Rams got their first touchdown at 0:00 of the third as Jenkins found McCoy for a blistering 72-yard score to make the deficit 27-13 as the Rams kicked a field goal 3 minutes before the touchdown.

Seattle allowed St. Louis a touchdown at 5:32 of the final quarter, as Jenkins found Jordan for the 10-yard score. Seattle ran the ball out as St. Louis failed a 4th and 4, giving Seattle perfect field position. Nichols kicked a late field goal to make the final score 30-20.

Ray Claybrooks got the offensive game ball for his 265 yards passing, 3 TD, 0 INT

Tremain Forbes got the defensive game ball for his 5 tackles.

ONLY ONE TEAM REMAINS UNBEATEN IN NFL AFTER WEEK 10

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles entered week 10, undefeated going into their respective battles. The Jaguars faced off versus the Houston Texans while the Eagles faced off versus the Chicago Bears.

The Jags had an easy time with the Texans. Jacksonville won, by a score of 27-16. Jacksonville put up points in each quarter, while the defense held Houston to 0 points in the third quarter to help fuel the victory.

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t bow up to their game ready to face the competitive Bears. Chicago sacked Eagles quarterback Snell 5 times, as their offense put up double digit points in the final three quarters as well as shutting out the Eagles in the third to fuel the 34-23 victory.

BENJAMIN SEALS VICTORY WITH LATE INTERCEPTION

While Claybrooks wasn’t at his best, he wasn’t at his worst either. Seattle put up 10 points in the first quarter, while their defense kept Philadelphia off the scoreboard which is a victory in of itself. Seattle got the scoring going, after J.T. Hutchinson picked off Eagles quarterback. Wolford punched it in from the 1-yard line at 7:06. Seattle then kicked a field goal at 1:38 to finish off the first quarter.

Philadelphia held Seattle scoreless in the second quarter, while finally breaking through by getting a touchdown with :33 left in the first half. Snell found Williams for the 18-yard score to cut the deficit to 10-7.

Seattle got the ball to start the second half, but had to punt. Forbes, then intercepted Snell on the ensuing drive, giving Seattle great field position. Wallace punched it in from the 3-yard line to push Seattle’s led to 17-7.

The fourth quarter was touch-and-go. Jamaal Charles ran it in from 2-yards at 9:51 to cut the Seahawk lead to 17-14. Seattle answered right back as Alvarado got a step on Eagles cornerback Larry Coleman and was found for a back-breaking 80-yard score to push their led back to 24-14. Nichols knocked home a 18-yard chip shot as Philadelphia had a goal line stand to keep them in the game at 27-14 with 2:44 to go in the game. The Eagles answered with a quick score at 2:10 as Snell connected with Johnson for the 53-yard score.

Seattle ran the ball, but was forced to punt, but Philadelphia was out of timeouts. On the second pass attempt by Snell, Benjamin Leon leapt into the air to snag the ball, and secure the victory for the hard fought battle.

BENJAMIN LEON WITH GAME CLINCHING INTERCEPTION

The offensive game ball was given to Calvin Wallace for his 138 rushing yards on 35 attempts. Keeping the ball out of the Eagles offense helped get the “W”

Benjamin Leon got the defensive game ball for his 5 tackles and 1 interception

The Seahawks move to 3rd overall in the NFC and take a sizable 3 game lead in the NFC West over the (5-5) St. Louis Rams.

RAVENS DEFENSE PUTS STOP TO JAGUARS WIN STREAK AT 9 WINS

The Baltimore Ravens put on a defensive clinic on what was heralded as the ‘game of the week’ according to experts. While Tom Fredrick was a superstar quarterback that most teams would love to have...the Ravens confused him all game long. The young signal caller threw 5 interceptions on the day, as Terrell Rowe claimed 2 of them.

Lee Schroeder for the Ravens wasn’t having a spectacular outing, as he tossed a trio of interceptions, but he did manage to toss a pair of touchdowns to aid his team in the victory.

The 2007 New England Patriots get to claim they were the only modern era team to go undefeated in the regular season...while the 1972 Miami Dolphins were sipping champagne somewhere...even if it was never confirmed by sources.

SEATTLE VICTORIOUS IN NATIONS CAPITOL BY SCORE OF 28-21

Seattle’s original game plan wasn’t to run the ball down the throat of the Washington Redskins. The game plan changed after the second play of Seattle’s first drive. The Seattle defense forced a punt, and started at their own 20-yard line. After Claybrooks took a sack, making it 2nd-and-20, the Washington Redskins gambled and lost big. The team thought Seattle would pass the ball, but Seattle ran it off the right hash. Wallace juked past the outside linebacker and ran the whole 89-yards for the debilitating score with no defenders within 10-yards of him. Nichols made the extra point giving them a 7-0 lead.

CALVIN WALLACE MAKING HIS LONE DEFENDER MISS BEFORE TURNING ON THE JETS FOR THE 89-YARD SCORE

Washington responded on their next drive as Philip Rivers found Wiggins for the 12-yard score at 6:02 to tie the game at 7-7. Seattle’s Wallace got his second rushing touchdown on a 1-yard plunge, but Nichols missed the extra point making it a 13-7 lead.

The second quarter was all Seahawks as the defensive held Washington to a lone field goal at 10:54, the only points for the rest of the first half. The bad news would be that Claybrooks had to leave, after getting hit hard on their first drive. Richards would come in and stay in as Claybrooks reported having “a numb feeling in his throwing arm”. Richards went to work, as he found Gronkowski at 8:33 for a 6-yard score. Nichols missed his second extra point in s many tries. After exchanging punts, Richards found Wolford for the 1-yard score, but failed to get the 2-point conversion at 2:01. Seattle tacked on a field goal at :13 of the second quarter after Marcus Mitchell intercepted Rivers’ pass. Seattle led 28-10 at the half.

MARCUS MITCHELL WITH INTERCEPTION, ALLOWING A FIELD GOAL BEFORE HALFTIME

Seattle’s ground game was flummoxed the second half, as they weren’t able to put up any points on the board and played a giant game of ‘keep-away’ from the opposing team.

Washington got a field goal in the third quarter at 3:33.

They trailed 28-13 going into the fourth quarter. Seattle intercepted Rivers for a fourth time as Forbes got his second pick of the day, but Seattle was forced to punt. Washington, tried to make a game of it late as Rivers connected on a quick go route with Welty for a 68-yard score with only :52 left in the game. They converted on the 2-pt try, but Seattle got the onside kick and kneeled the game out as Washington only had 1 time out left.

Calvin Wallace had career highs and got the offensive game ball for his absurd 40 carries for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a fumble but recovered it.

Tremain Forbes got the defensive game ball for his 10 tackles and 2 interceptions on the day

Seattle’s next opponent would be the (9-2) Carolina Panthers who’d just suffered a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 28-24. Carolina sports the #2 overall defense, allowing just 10.2 points per game AND the #4 scoring offense at 28.6 points/game. Seattle has their work cut out for them, as Carolina has had success in the past, most notably in the playoffs when the games count.

SEATTLE DEFENSE FORCED 6 TURNOVERS IN DEMORALIZING 59-10 VICTORY

The Seattle Seahawks defense was dead last of all teams for total yardage given up as well as allowing the 3rd most points/game at 27. Only the Texans (27.5 ppl) and Saints (30.5 ppl) were worse off. Seattle’s defense got the memo, as they played lights out in their victory Sunday.

Seattle defense got going early, as Tremain Forbes picked off Panthers’ quarterback Swayne, and Seattle cashed in via a field goal at 7:09 of the first quarter. Neither team would score in the first quarter.

The second quarter was all Seattle, as they were forced to punt early in the quarter. Carolina returner, Davone Bess got crushed by rookie Toby Field, coughing up the ball which Irv Sosa scooped up and scored on the 28-yard fumble recovery touchdown, making it 10-0. Seattle added a pair of touchdowns to complete the first half. First was at 4:29, when Alvarado got behind everyone when the cornerback bit on play action for the easy 69-yard score. The final touchdown of the first half was at :25 when Calvin Wallace got his first of three rushing scores on a 23-yard rush to the right as Carolina guessed ‘pass’ and was wrong. Carolina added a field goal at :07 after the squib quick went out of bounds, giving Carolina great field position. Seattle led 24-3 at the half...and would never look back.

TOBY FIELD CAUSING BESS TO FUMBLE BEFORE SOSA ‘SCOOPS AND SCORES’

Seattle’s defense kept jumping routes, as Marcus Mitchell jumped a ball, and ran it back for the 32-yard pick-6 at 3:47. Seattle’s Gaffney caught a 10-yard flat pass at 1:29 to extend their lead to 45-3.

                                A0A23E35-70F9-4D93-BD2F-7664E0D6BAC9.jpg

MITCHELL READING SWAYNE’S EYES TO JUMP THE ROUTE FOR THE DEFENSIVE TD

Seattle added a pair of touchdowns in the final quarter. Calvin Wallace ran it in from 3-yards at 7:01, and finished off the high octane scoring at 1:44 on a 7-yard scamper. Caroline scored at 4:33 as Swayne found Craig for a meaningless 53-yard score...but I guess some would say it was a “morale victory”.

Calvin Wallace got the offensive game ball for his 38 carries for 164 yards, 3 touchdowns; 8 receptions for 112 yards. He accounted for over half their 525 yards of total offense...276!!!

Marcus Mitchell got the defensive game ball for his 6 tackles, 1 interception, 1 touchdown performance.

Next up, Seattle would host the (9-3) Indianapolis Colts, coached by Mike Tomlin. The Colts sported the #1 overall defense, having only allowed 2155 yards of total offense! They allow the 5th best points/game at 15.5. Whereas the Seahawks boast the leagues worst defense still at 5000+ yards total offense and 2nd worst 27 points/game. Their offense is the best however scoring a whopping 37.9 points/game and over 5000+ offense yards thanks to Claybrooks and company.

This is the classical ‘defense vs offense’ argument...and Seattle has to like their chances.
