WEDDLE OUT 2-3 WEEKS WITH ELBOW INJURY

Star safety Eric Weddle sustained a strained elbow, and would require 2-3 weeks to rest it and not put any more strain on it. The team was confident in their talented crew on the backend, and would let him heal up.

SEATTLE OFFENSE STARTS SLOW BUT MAINTAINS PERFECT RECORD

The Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles defenses showed up for this game. The first quarter both teams were held scoreless, Seattle’s offense was stymied, and Joe Flacco was sacked 2 times.

The second quarter was much of the same. The lone offensive bright spot was when Marshawn Lynch took a run right side, bounced off of a trio of tacklers and tumbled down the sideline for a 52-yard score. Philadelphia answered with an explosive 87-yard pass down the left hash as Desean Jackson beat the cornerback on a double move to tie the game. Claybrooks would throw his only interception of the game on the next drive as he failed to see the linebacker covering Gronkowski. The defense let the Eagles drive down the field, until Tremaine Forbes picked off Joe Flacco on a pass intended for Brent Celek and ran it back the length of the field for a 96-yard pick-6 to take a 14-7 halftime lead.

The third quarter was the Seahawks’ quarter as Gronkowski caught a 8-yard score on a post route.

The fourth quarter the Seahawks put the game away early as Nichols kicked a 23-yard field goal; followed up with Gronkowski’s second touchdown of the game as he caught a quick out rout and ran it the rest of the way for the 32-yard score. Philip added a late touchdown from Flacco to Doebwrling with a successful 2-pt try to make it a 31-15 game. Seattle ran out the rest of the :45 seconds for the win.

“It was a good test, to see us not have it easy from the first whistle” Coach Carroll spoke to reporters “A win is a win, our defense picked up Claybrooks as Forbes had great awareness. A great overall game, but we still aren’t there yet”.

CASSEL INJURED LATE AS SEAHAWKS DE-CLAW BEARS

Seattle’s offense came ready this game compare to the previous. Seattle gave up an early field goal, but responded with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Gronkowski. Nichols had a missed PAT, which was rare for him. Nichols added a 30-yard field goal at the end of the first to go up 9-3.

The second quarter was all Seahawks though as they scored 4 times after they gave up a 1-yard pass from Cassel to Olsen. Seattle got a field goal half way to go up 12-10. Lynch scored on a 1-yard runs minute after the field goal, but dialed the 2-pt conversion to be up 18-10. Rob Gronkowski then caught a pair of touchdowns; from 21 & 17 yards to take a commanding 32-10 lead at half.

The third quarter was a lone Seattle touchdown by Gronkowski again from 18-yards this time.

The fourth quarter, the Seahawks stalled and punted pinning Chicago on the 2-yard line. Rey Maualuga broke through on the next play and drove Matt Cassel into the ground, creating a safety. Cassel was slow to get up and left the game with a shoulder injury. Seattle added a field goal off the free kick. C.J. Spiller broke through the vaunted Seattle defense and ran 75-yard for the score down the left sideline. Seattle added a trio of touchdowns in the final 1:02 of the game. Fraser caught a 4-yard pass, followed up by a 19-yard to Gronkowski. Eric Weddle made his presence known from his first game back by intercepting backup Gerard Perez and ran it back 25-yards for the score to make the final 65-17.

“It felt good to get the pick-6 after I was out for a couple weeks. I feel good” Erik Weddle told reporters.

SEAHAWKS FORCE 7 INTERCEPTIONS TO STAY PERFECT IN ARIZONA

Seattle traveled to Arizona to face off against their first NFC West battle versus the Cardinals. The Cardinals season was virtually over, as they were a dismal 2-6. Seattle showed why they’re the top of the NFC West as they hung 41 on their rivals.

Arizona got on the board first, as Dre Martin ran for a 55-yard touchdown on their opening drive. Seattle couldn’t find a rhythm until there were :20 left in the quarter when Lynch ran in from 2-yards to tie the game at 7-7.

The second quarter saw the Hawks score twice. The first was a pass to Fraser as they were on the goal line half way through the quarter. Nichols then added a field goal at time expired to go into the locker room with a 17-7 lead.

The third quarter saw the Seahawks score thrice; Nichols with a 39-yard field goal, Lynch with a 2-yard run and then finally Boyd with a 1-yard score.

The final quarter Claybrooks made two bad throw, that got picked off. The first, the Seattle defense proceeded to pick off Eli Manning to prevent anything bad happening. The second interception, Claybrooks’ was hit before he tossed it. Antonio Cromartie picked off the errant throw and ran it back for the 48-yard pick-6. Seattle then added a late touchdown run by Boyd to make the final score 41-14.

“We still have the rest of the season to go” said Pete Carroll “every game matters. After the NFC West or sights are on the conference then the Super Bowl.”

“We’re focused on the next game” spoke Bill Belichick to reporters. That all he said if asked a question.

CLAYBROOKS THROWS 4 INTERCEPTIONS BUT SEAHAWKS REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Despite Ray Claybrooks throwing 4 interceptions on the day, Seattle’s defense did their job to ensure they remained undefeated on the season. The first pass thrown by Claybrooks was picked off by Antonio Cromartie, who whole returning the interception got blown up by tackle Winston Justice forcing a fumble. The Seahawks remained vigilant and managed to grab the fumble for one of the weirdest plays in football to be sure. The bad news is, 4 plays later Claybrooks threw his second interception to Elvis Dumervil who dropped into coverage and jumped the tight end route to snag it. Seattle’s defense held Arizona to a field goal, to make it a 0-3 deficit.

Seattles’s Lynch then ran it in from 4-yards on their next drive to make it a 7-3 game. Ahmad Hall caught only one pass on the day, but he took it 75-yards for the score to make it a 10-7 Arizona lead.

Seattle wasn’t going to roll over as Claybrooks found Lewis Moore for his own 78-yard catch and score to go up 14-10. Arizona added a field goal at the end of the first to make it 14-13.

Seattle added a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter; the first on a Lavelle Hawkins 9-yard score from the flat then the second a Boyd 3-yard run. The Seahawks led 28-13 at the half.

Seattle added a lone touchdown in the third as Gronkowski caught a 38-yard pass down the right hash to go up 35-13.

Settle scored 4 touchdowns in the final quarter to put a giant exclamation point on the victory, and only gave up a touchdown to Arizona. Seattle scored on a Karney 1-yard run, followed up by a 17-yard pass to Lynch. Dre Martin for Arizona ripped of a gorgeous 79-yard run down the left sideline, jumping multiple defenders for his teams lone score. Seattle then added a Boyd 1-yard run before Karney caught a 4-yard pass to finish out the offensive onslaught.

Claybrooks final line wasn’t the greatest. He threw for over 600 yards with 5 touchdowns but also threw 4 interceptions.

“I cannot rely on my defense all the time to help me out with my own mistakes. We got eliminated last year in the 2nd round, and that was my fault. I need to take what the defense gives me, and not overdo it” Claybrooks told the media at the post game presser.

SEATTLE STAYS UNDEFEATED WITH 51-7 VICTORY OVER PACKERS

Ray Claybrooks cut his interceptions in half compared to the Arizona game, but his play wasn’t up to his own standards despite the easy victory.

Seattle scored in every quarter. The first quarter consisted of a Lynch 1-yard run and a 4-yard pass to Fraser.

The second started off with safety by the defense after Green Bay committed a holding penalty backing then bear the goal, before Damon Abdullah sacked quarterback Lester Flowers in the endzone. As time expired before the half, Lewis Moore caught a hail mary to go up 23-0.

The third quarter saw the Packers give up another big play as Moore caught a 77-yard bomb as he beat his man down the left sideline. Claybrooks tossed his second interception, as he failed to see his target double covered in the flat as he was pressured. The veteran Clay Matthews grabbed it and tumbled his way for the 89-yard pick-6.

The fourth quarter saw some key position backups come in at quarterback, running back and tight end. Calvin Wallace got a 2-yard running score, followed up with a 26-yard pass from Chad Richards to Fraser and then to round out the scoring Richards tossed a 6-yard score to Gronkowski.

Richards ended with 97 yards and 2 TD to 1 INT. The starter Claybrooks ended with 494 yards, 3 TD & 2 INT.

“I played better than the Arizona game, but I know I can personally do better. [Chad] Richards played well, and I’m happy to see him succeed” Claybrooks told media.

SEATTLE 1 GAME AWAY FROM CLAIMING NFC WEST TITLE AFTER DISMANTLING RAMS 49-17

Seattle Seahawks quarterback threw one interception on the day, so his awareness for the field has gotten better. He threw it on his second pass attempt on the day, but the defense bailed him out to hold the Rams to a field goal. Seattle then went to work on offense by scoring their own field goal before the end of the first to tie the game at 3.

Seattle’s offense got humming during the second quarter, putting up 13 unanswered points. Two touchdown passes by Claybrooks; the first for 19-yards to Gronkowski and the second a 62-yard bomb to Lewis Moore before the half. Nichols missed the second PAT...a now common occurrence.

The third quarter was more Seahawk dominance. Gronkowski caught an 8-yard flat pass, but the 2-pt conversion run failed. Then Nichols knocked in a field goal, before Fraser caught a 17-yard laser beam score as time expired in the third to make it a 32-3 beating.

The reserves came in once more for Seattle, as Richards’ third pass was picked off by Leon Hall of the Rams and ran back 56-yards for the score. Calvin Wallace ran it in from 1-yard before Percy Harvin torched the entire Hawk defense for his own 74-yard score. Calvin Wallace caught a 2-yard score then Nichols added a 50-yard field goal that squeaked over the crossbar.

“Claybrooks is improving everyday. Every game he plays better, and that’s all I can ask of the kid. Our defense is doing it’s job, Benjamin Leon had another stellar night, getting an interception to give us another chance on offense.” — Coach Carroll

SEATTLE CLAIMS NFC WEST TITLE AFTER SHUTTING OUT 49ERS 32-0 ON MNF

Seattle was all over quarterback Curtis Alford, sacking his twice, picking him off once and pressuring him all throughout the game.

Alford’s lone interception came on his second pass, that was intended Chris Glover down the middle. J.T. Hutchinson jumped the route and ran in back for the 20-yard defensive score. The Seattle offense couldn’t get anything going until the second quarter.

In the second, Lynch added a pair of touchdown runs from 4 & 1 yards. Nichols missed the first PAT, and the 2-pt run was failed on the second touchdown to give the Hawks a 19-0 lead at the half.

The third quarter saw Seattle’s Claybrooks call his own number on a sneak from 1-yard. They added a Karney 2-yard pass in the final quarter to finish off the shutout.

“Nichols was uncharacteristically bad today, missing 2 PAT, but he’s been so clutch in the past that I’m not too worried about it” Carroll told media. “We will be fine come playoff time”

SEATTLE OFFENSE STARTS SLOW BUT BLOWS OUT BROWNS TO MOVE TO 14-0

Seattle’s offense was sluggish to start the game as they failed to score in the first quarter. Cleveland did a good job of keeping Seattle’s playmakers of Moore and Lynch in check, while also putting their own points on the board. The Browns were able to get a pair of field goals on their drives to take a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter, Claybrooks was heating up and getting into a rhythm. Their first drive of the second quarter, Claybrooks found Moore down the left sideline for a 66-yard score, to go up 7-6. After the defense forced a 3-and-put, Seattle marched down the field as Claybrooks found Tatum on a little crossing route that he took in for a 14-yard score to go up 14-6. Seattle forced a turnover as Damon Abdullah forced a fumble from Cleveland’s quarterback and recovered it. Seattle scored on a Marshawn Lynch 1-yard plunge to go up 21-6 with 4:57 left in the half. Seattle got the ball back with under :60 to go. Claybrooks hit Lewis Moore on a big play to give Nochols a shot before the half for a 50-yard field goal...which was good. Seattle lead ballooned to 24-6.

Seattle got the ball to start to half and scored on their opening drive as Moore caught a 5-yard pass out the flat. Cleveland answered with a field goal on their next possession. After the team exchanged punts, Nichols kicked a field goal to make it a 34-9 game going into the final quarter.

Cleveland kicker added a measly field goal then Seattle and Gronkowski added a 2-yard pass to close out the scoring in the game. Seattle won 41-12, cementing a top #2 seed at the worst as Carolina was right on their heels for the #1 seed with a 14-1 record of their own.

Lewis Moore was the player of the game; grabbing 7 balls for 143 yards and 2 TD

SEAHAWKS MOVE TO 15-0 AS DEFENSE FORCES 5 FUMBLES IN 41-7 VICTORY OVER RAMS

Seattle’s defense was flying all over the field in the game. Mike Karney got the game started as he forced his way into the end zone on a 2-yard score. On the Rams next drive, Vernon Kelly was blown up by Tremain Forbes as Kelly lost the football. Lamar Sparks fell on the ball, but Seattle was forced to punt. Before the end of the first, Damon Abdullah hit backup running back Gary Russell as he coughed up the ball. Randall Hayes grabbed the ball and ran it back for the 20-yard fumble recovery touchdown. They were up 14-0 after the first.

Seattle had scored half way through the second on a 12-yard catch from Moore. Seattle then got the ball back and the quarterback was strip-sacked by Lamar Sparks. Claybrooks threw a ball into double coverage as Rans cornerback Devlin intercepted it and ran it back for the 60-yard pick-6. The only points the Rams would score, down 7-21 at half.

Seattle was add on 10 points each in the remaining half of football. Moore would catch a 47-yard frozen rope in the hard, with a Nichols field goal a few minutes later. Lynch would run it in from 2-yard in the fourth before Nichols ended the scoring with a 30-yard field goal.

“When we play like this, nobody can beat us. We are the only ones that can beat us” Lamar Spark boasted to the reporters.

SEATTLE FINISHES PERFECT SEASON WITH 34-20 VICTORY OVER RIVAL 49ERS

Seattle and San Francisco and no strangers to close games, one with meaning. San Francisco was hellbent on ruining the perfect regular season, but Seattle was hellbent on preserving it.

Seattle and San Francisco both got fields goal during the first quarter; 23-yards from Nichols and 22-yards from Scobee as both defenses would ‘bend not break’.

The second quarter was all Seattle. They gave up an early touchdown pass from Alford to Dixon of 56-yards, but the Seahawks defense would get stingy for the rest of the half. Seattle’s McCain picked off Alford as he missed Dixon on an underthrown ball. McCain ran it back 37-yards for the pick-6. George caught a 20-yard pass with 1:54 left in the half. After a quick 3-and-put, Settle got the ball back with a tick over 1:18 left. Claybrooks took them 63-yards in :55 as Lynch capped it off with a 1-yard plunge, taking a 24-1” lead into the locker room.

The second half saw the teams exchange touchdowns in the third. Lynch ran it in from 9-yards; followed up as Breaston caught a 9-yard pass.

The fourth quarter saw the kickers exchange field goals as the San Francisco offense couldn’t get anything going.

The team popped champagne in the locker room to celebrate their accomplishment.

“We will enjoy this for a day or two, then focus on the playoffs. Our opponents won’t care what we did in the regular season, so we will have to be on point” Coach Carroll told media.

(Dimmed final 3 regular season games; still same overall outcome just different write-up. Playoffs are: beat STL, beat Carolina, lose Jets)

SEATTLE HOLDS ON AS RAMS COMEBACK ATTEMPT FALLS SHORT

The Seahawks and Rams are no strangers to hard fought, grudge match battles. They have been rivals for the past half-decade. This football game would be no different.

Seattle jumped out to an early lead, as Nichols kicked a 25-yard field goal in their opening drive to go up 3-0. Seattle’s defense would hold them Rams scoreless on their trio of first quarter drives. Seattle finally got trot first touchdown of the game towards the end of the first quarter as Moore was found from 4-yards to make it a 10-0 game.

The second quarter the Rams found a rhythm. They kicked a field goal to make it 10-3 on their drive. Gronkowski caught an 8-yard pass after the teams exchanged punts to make the score 17-3 with 5:36 left in the half. Wes Welker, known as “slot machine” caught a ball over the middle and outran everyone for a 34-yard score with 2:18 in the half; score 17-10. Seattle wouldn’t play it safe as Claybrooks made big time throws to Gronkowski and George to set up a 41-yard field goal before the half to push it to a 20-10 lead.

The Rams offense was non-existent in the third quarter as they could t put up any points. The good news however is the Rams defense held the Seattle offense to a lone 23-yard field goal, making it 23-10.

The Rams did their best to comeback in the fourth. Seattle scored at the 14:22 mark as George caught a 9-yard score, proving to be the game winner. The Rams however were not going to roll over; as Seattle was forced to punt with 5:00 to go in the game. The electric Percy Harvin took the punt back 60-yards for the special teams score, giving the Rams some hope being down 17-30. Seattle punted again with under 3:00 to go in the game. Kris Jenkins, former Seahawk star found Percy Harvin beat his man for a 55-yard score making it a 24-30 game. The drive left :50 on the clock, forcing the Rams into an onside kick. Seattle’s hands team recovered the ball and ran out the clock.

“It was a tough win, but the games and teams get harder each week. Next up is the Panthers, who are going to want to avenge their only loss in the regular season to us. It was be a battle for the ages I think” Coach Carroll told the media.

GLEN NICHOLS’ LEG SENDS SEATTLE TO SUPER BOWL IN LAST MINUTE THRILLER

Seattle knew Carolina was coming for revenge just like Carroll had said. The game was back and forth, all day.

Seattle started out with a touchdown in the first, as Lynch ran it in from the 1-yard line.

The second quarter was when both offenses woke up. Moore caught a 22-yard post route for a touchdown at 13:27 to go up 14-0. Carolina answered with a big play as Maclin went on a deep post route, stealing past high safety Hutchinson for a monstrous 68-yard touchdown at 10:52 to make it 7-14. Both teams exchanged punts, before Evans caught a 6-yard pass from Vince Young at 4:20 to make it a tie game at 14-14. Seattle marched down the field as Lynch scored with 1:55 left in the half to go up 21-14 at the half.

Seattle got a lone field goal in the third as Nichols kicked a 55-yard field goal. Seattle defense held the Panthers scoreless, which was impressive as they had the league’s #2 scoring offense.

Drama, drama and more drama were on tap for the final quarter. Carolina showed why they had the #2 scoring offense as Young found Zeke Doe for a 4-yard score, as the quarter opened drawing them to a 24-21 Hawks lead. Carolina had Sebastian Janikowski, whose leg was known around the league. He kicked a 32-yard chip shot with 3:53 left in the game to tie it 24-24. Seattle wouldn’t be denied their chance for another Championship. They were forced to punt, but the defense forced a punt of their own and gave Seattle’s offense a chance with :34 left in the game.

Claybrooks would then show why he was the MVP of the league this year. He found Lewis Moore for a big gain, and then Lynch put it in the middle of the field for Nichols. Carolina tried to ice Nichols, but the man had ice water running through his veins. The snap was down, laces turned as Nichols buried the game winning 45-yard field goal with :02 left in the game.

“I aged about 3 years as the ball left the grass” joked Carroll “but what a team effort and game. This was a sweet win for sure, but now we gotta get ready for the big dance in a couple weeks. The Jets aren’t a pushover, they have the #1 ranked defense and can score points as they dropped 41 on the Jags...so yeah”.

DEFENSE GREATER THAN OFFENSE AS JETS SOAR OVER SEAHAWKS TO CLAIM SUPER BOWL

The game was back-and-forth...until the fourth quarter. Seattle and New York exchanged field goals in the second quarter as neither team could do anything during the first. The game was tied at the half 3-3.

The third quarter saw the teams exchange touchdowns as well. The explosive Andre Johnson was found in the end zone by Mark Sanchez for a 30-yard score with 5:29 to go. Seattle’s Claybrooks came back the next drive and found Lewis Moore for a 34-yard score at 2:28 to tie the game back at 10-10.

The fourth quarter however was Seattle’s undoing. New York scored 13 unanswered points; 6 on back-to-back field goals and then Wilson picked off Claybrooks and ran it back for the 32-yard pick-6 to push the lead to 24-10 after a successful 2-pt conversion. Seattle tried to mount a comeback as Claybrooks found Moore for the 36-yard score with 5:02 left to pull within 7 points, at 24-17. New York was forced to punt, but also forced Seattle to punt. New York put the nail in the coffin as Jamaal Charles caught a 13-yard score to make it a 31-17 game with :57 left in the game.

“I’ll be back next year I think. I’ve got lots to play for, I still have that drive and desire to win” Carroll told reports after the tough loss “I know we can get back to the big game”.
