    Roster Project for Prospects

From what I've seen and read, MLB2K10 might be missing a lot of the top prospects in the game.

I obviously can't do it by myself, but I'm more than willing to do my fair share in creating the Top 100 prospects in the game.

Keith Law: Top 100 Prospects of 2010 (ESPN)

The above is an ESPN Insider article, but his list is pretty good. If I got some help, we could create all the top prospects in the game that are missing. It would kill time for me while waiting until Opening Day to start my franchise.

With all the editing features brought back by 2K, we could create these guys with ease.

I'm even willing to take it a step further and ask that we get some guys to create the top 10 prospects for each team. If we got enough guys, we could get it done.

    Any takers?

Can you post that article? Those of us that don't have ESPN Insider, cannot see it.

      Re: Roster Project for Prospects

There's a major roster project going on over at 2K Sports forums. This will be for the 360 & once finished it will be made available on 2K Share. I do believe though that information for prospects & player actual names are gonna be manually provided in the thread over there. You can take that & manually input it for yourself too.

BTW, it's not that the top prospects are missing. It's their initials don't match like in the past. For instance, Jason Heyward(Braves) doesn't have the J.H. to match his name. I don't know if it's this way with all of them but it has been reported by Chase here on the forums that this is the case for at least quite a few of the prospects & other minor league players.

I guess for the veterans & other players we might have to match stats to get them named. Might be more time-consuming this year but it's better than having the player edit limits like with MLB 2K9. Thanks!

i've read that thread...why do i not have a lot of confidence in that project? i like the idea of doing a "community" file to at least get started, where the file is uploaded on 2kshare and each person takes turn updating one file.

all those guys are doing is compiling information and then letting one or two people do all the work. i just don't like that approach (unless i've misread it).

          I've read that thread too.

What I got from reading it is that two guys are "in charge" so to speak. They asked for members of the forum to choose a team and when they get the game, record any corrections that need to be made, and post them for that given team. When all teams are done, one of those guys is doing all of the changes for the A.L., and the other guy is doing the N.L. After that, somehow, they are combining it into one roster file, for all of us to download.

One guy is going to do the NL, upload it to 2K share. And then the other guy is going to download the roster and then do the AL.

I do remember in last year's game(2K9) couldn't use the two initials so names were all wrong. But I did found some players with matching height and weight. I'm gonna see if 2K10 is doing anything similar or different.

Looking at birthdays is the easiest way to go. Some players do still have matching initials as well. Jason Heyward is James Hunter this year, for example.

                    Re: Roster Project for Prospects

I must say fellows, the ease of finding hidden prospects in this game is bad. For example, I'm doing the Mets roster. Looking for Ike Davis, there doesn't seem to be anyone with a 3/22/87 birthdate for this player. I subsequently edited a AA 1B who looks to fit the bill but had to require edits for potential, power, and age. I also looked for anyone to match Wilmer Flores, Mejia, and Igarashi. Nothing....

The Heyward edit as someone mentioned seems to fit the bill but he too requires a need boost in ratings.

This will be an enormous task for anyone planning on doing minor league edits for all teams. Best thing to do is before going into franchise, create all players, then start a franchise, then make modifications while in franchise.

I created a Ryota Igarashi and will upload player DNA for sharing.....This is for the PS3

I'd be more than willing to do this, but:

                      A) It seems there is an editing restriction despite us being told that there wouldn't be;

                      and

                      B) 2K botched the minors this year. I think they left out A TON of prospects from the looks of things.

                      That makes it pretty tough.

                        A. Okay

                        B. They cannot put the real prospects in because of the lawsuit against EA Sports and the NCAA. You'd think that people would understand that by now!

That's true but there's been no verdicts yet to this issue. Plus, using their initials to match shouldn't be an issue since we have no outcome yet of the lawsuits either.

They don't even have matching initials so getting prospect matches is hard to do here with MLB 2K10. I don't care anymore now since there is an editing limit again this year.

Calm down. I understand that just fine.

I don't think that's the reason, though. It looks like Jason Heyward (James Hunter) is still in the game.

I'm going to do my best, but the roster restriction is a big deal and is going to make it tough.
