who else is on the edge about buying this game this year..?

so I have bought this game 2 straight years now for my 360, and both years I have been bitterly disappointed..I mean I every year I buy the MLB the show for my psp, and I have 4 times as much fun playing the show for my psp, then 2k for my xbox..and I just want to know from some of you out there, if you are feeling the same way i am..I mean I think im just ganna wait this year out, rather then going out and buying it on day one, like I always end up doing with sports games, and just waiting for the reviews, because this game has let me and my wallet down 2 times too many..and now the news about NO CHECK SWINGS, which plays a crucuial role in baseball..I think im either just going to wait on reviews, or just skip it all together if it doesnt come back with solid reviews this time around..

Getting it. Love baseball. N I need a game. ... check swings no problem for me as long as the fix the fielding n cpu ai....

Or unless I decide to get the ps3 hopfefully b4 march 1st

If they really put the editing features back in, I'll consider it...

But I'll tell you this right now, and I hope others do the same... I am waiting two weeks to a month and I will read every review, visit multiple boards and get as much info on the game as I can. I won't be an early buyer of this game this year and I seriously pray others do the same... This game has been a huge disappointment over the past two summers. I expect them to close the gap between The Show, but they just keep getting further and further away.

If the reviews and feedback are positive, I will watch some videos on YouTube... and if that goes well I'll rent it. If I like it, I'll buy it.

No more blindly throwing my money away on this game this year if it just continues to be crap.

I've considered it. Just based on the previews i've read i've went from "Why would I ever buy that crap?" to really really intrigued.

I agree with you 110% Every year I buy this game on release and every year its pretty much unplayable until people from here bust their butts finding a slider set and until the first patch comes out. Now I can understand waiting for a slider set, as I haven't been able to play any sports game out of the box in a long time, but having to wait for a damn patch every year just to MAYBE enjoy the game, sucks.

So, like you, I will read what people here have to say as well as other reviews and boards, and then make a decision. But no more release day purchases for me, with this game!!

I'll have it, if it sucks, it'll go back and be another year without a baseball game. It's not that big of a deal to me anymore. Plus, Battlefield Bad Company 2 comes out the same day, that'll ease any lack of baseball needs

I'm cautiously optimistic, actually.

MLB 2K9 has a heap of problems but I never believed the game is as bad as some make it out. Chase and Owen's (Kotaku) previews imply most of the problems I had last year are now gone.

It doesn't need to be an A+ for me. I'll take a good, solid B or B+.

The thing that bothered me the most about 2K9 was the AI, but it was actually pretty fun online once they toned the homeruns down with the patch. It wasn't perfect, but at least the online portion of it wasn't too bad.

As a PC player, I don't really have a choice.

Last year's game had it's moments for me of real fun - the commentary was great and some games were great. It just wasn't consistent. I also bought a 360 controller just for this game.

If this is $19.99 at release like last year, I'm definitely picking it up.

I am a little skeptical but after reading preview about 4 hour tour of game; I will check out gameplay vids then make my decision if I will pick this game up or get PS3 and The Show.

I'm not touching it until I get more info or get to play it. If it's good I'll buy it, no questions asked...but I'm not expecting much. I think they need to blow up the game engine and start over...that would get more excited.

If they put the editing options back in, I'll rent it. There's no way I would buy this game without trying it out first. I passed on last years game and really don't mind not having a new baseball game if 2k10 is bad.

That's more or less how I've felt. I preferred MLB2K8 post-patch to MLB2K9, even though I did feel 2K9 was an improvement. It just felt somewhat bland for some reason. But I've never gotten the need of some to overstate the game's issues as if 2K9 was some horrible abomination that comes close to comparing to really bad games like MLB2K6, Madden '06, Live '07, etc. It's like some will only consider the game a success or a complete failure; there can be no in-between. Looking forward to seeing what VC has done w/this year's game though

sounds like this game will be alot better than last years. but me i won't be buying it for the simple reason that i own a ps3 and with there last game nhl2k10 not getting a patch because they did not sell many copies makes me beleave when they patch it and they will because all there games get patches. they will skip the ps3 because lack of sales on that platform most will buy the show. if i had a 360 i might be tempted but as a ps3 owner i am staying away from there games.
