30 Team Roster control

Not a fan of it, I know some are but it's just not for me. You are controlling every single team obviously and any time an injury pops up you get a notice. That would get extremely annoying as you are going through your season. Also if you are controlling every team aren't you basically trading with yourself? Don't you have final say whether the trade goes through or not? Not sure that would be a lot of fun.

So I've decided to just do a single team franchise, the only problem is the lineups aren't right, you have power hitters batting 2nd but I can fix that by setting my lineup and going into the game as the team I'm playing that day. Then once the game starts I can just switch back over to the Braves.

So what does everyone think, do you like the 30 team roster control? Is it what you thought it would be?

You're missing a HUGE part of the new system.
Profiles.
If you create a profile that gives the CPU control of everything....and choose all 30 team control at the start of a franchise....the only thing you are doing is making sure you can later go back into any team and adjust a profile and do what you like.
The CPU will handle everything you assign it as if you didn't choose control
Also...if you leave it NO PROFILE.....then it uses the GLOBAL options which you can set to CPU and go back and change as you like during the season.

I hate that with 30 team control on with no profile assigned to other teams, I have to simulate all the other games before playing as the Cards in order to get the out of town scores.

OK, I believe that makes sense Knight, but just to get some clarification. Here's what I'm looking for in terms of control of my franchise. Perhaps you can tell me which setting or profile option would be best for the CPU controlled teams. Here's what I'm looking for:

1. Me to handle ALL aspects of my own controlled team.

2. The CPU to handle the mundane things like scouting, drafting, travelling, marketing, budgets, emails all that junk by themselves that I won't have to do.

3. The CPU to not make any trades or waiver claims, as I want to manually make trades as they are done in real life.

4. Me being able to set every team's lineup/rotation without them messing it up.

5. Injuries might be a bit tricky. I would like the randomness of dealing with injuries on MY team, but don't want injuries on CPU teams because they'd fudge the lineups up bad. I want to manually assign their injuries as they occur in real life.

Which profile/global settings would match what I'm looking for above? Any help from anyone would be GREATLY appreciated.

What Knight is suggesting is to create 2 profiles:

* 1 profile is for YOUR team. So you set everything on manual so you can impact the day to day affairs for your franchise.

* the 2nd profile is for the other 29 teams. So you set everything on Auto. This gives you the ability to go in to change things that look odd (horrible trades, released stars, etc.), but remain "hands off" the rest of the time.

This is what I'll be doing with my franchise. Thanks Knight for the great suggestion!

Ok...so I can't exactly PREVENT the CPU from doing goofy things, but I can go in there and undo whatever silliness they did? And I guess with the email system I can get notifications on transactions to find the CPU's nutty behavior?

And what about injuries? What do you suggest? I'm at work right now and can't see the Injury option, so I don't remember the best way to do it.

You can if you set in that profile that you have control of trades and lineups and injuries. But have the CPU handle everything else.

Which means you will have full control of all 30 lineups, trades, signings, injuries, etc.

I am going to manually injure guys to reflect the real life season. And do all the trades and roster moves to reflect it as well. But let the CPU handle stadium finances, etc.

Also leave the simming of games up to the CPU to see how they handle it compared to real life (wins/loses/stats). And only play games for Boston and Florida.

For injuries....you can't do it the way you want.....off for the rest of the league but random for yours.
It's going to either be off....random....or manual.
One thing...not only can you INJURE players now...but you can TAKE AWAY injuries...
You can switch injuries...on/off/manual throughout the season so that could help you.

Don't forget...whatever teams you set to NO PROFILE...will follow the GLOBAL settings.

So if I assign Prof2 to all the other 29 teams, should I set lineups as Manual?

And if so, will that keep the lineups like they are in exhibition mode, or will they require some cleanup?

From what I've seen, lineups are fine when playing Exhibition but get screwy in Franchise. For instance, when I play the Phillies in Exhibition, Rollings leads off, but when I play them in Franchise, Rollings bats 6th.

which one are you guys going to do for realism?

Off- no adversity you have to deal with, but won't have to worry as much with the cpu doing nutty lineup adjustments

Random- transactions gone crazy!!!!! but you can undo the damage

one thing to remember, don't fix everyone's roster before spring training. If you start a franchise with your custom roster, everything will be fine until Spring Training. Once Spring Training ends, you'll have to fix every teams lineup manually. Be sure to do it for all 4 lineups (vs. LHP with/without DH and RHP with/without DH). once you do that Save it and I think you should be good moving forward.

If you make 2 profiles...the second one...say call it LINEUPS....set everything except lineups to AUTO....you will only see your lineups except when resting players(the CPU will sub for tired guys)
You will have to fix the lineups with injuries and moves though.
Try this...I'm not at the game.
Just take control of all 30 teams....yours with your profile...and the other 29 with a profile of everything(including lineups) to AUTO...and see if you can change them anyway. I know you can cycle through each teams lineup screen....I just can't remember if you can alter them or not.

Knight...are Global seetings useless when you have created 2 profiles?

In other words, Lets say I create Profile "stormshadow" for MY team and Profile "snakeyes" for all OTHER 29 teams. Global settings would become useless correct?
