Matt Vasgersian what more can u say, he's a loveable guy with a solid broadcasting voice who knows his stuff.
However somethings grow tired and 8+ years of the same voice grows tiresome for anyone who even likes him.
PS4 is coming and seems as though it's primetime for some big changes, you can easily see where I'm going here.
This is not to discredit Matty V he's done good for along time, nor is this list your favorite broadcaster to replace him thread, it's just to acknowledge its time for a change.
Ps Lyons is a nice addition and makes Matty sound like more of a dinosaur

This game takes a lot of heat for the commentary, but I was really focusing on it the other day, and it's pretty #%^> amazing if you really think about it. We just play it so much that we get sick of it. But really, it's quite good.

I couldnt disagree more, i love Matty V and the comentary in this game.
Just like how i have listed to Marty Brennaman call Reds games for 25 years.
I dont tire of the best in the game.

I agree, when watching videos of 2k games the first thing I notice (apart from the terrible gameplay and visuals) is the commentary and how it feels really natural. If they are in the middle of a conversation when there's a pitch they will stop, talk about the play, then go back to what they were talking about before, that's the one thing I like about 2k.

Because Matt V was accessible and affordable. He was announcing the Padres at the time he was hired, if I'm not mistaken. Therefore he was right in the same area as the studios. Not to mention he probably costs a lot less then if you were going to go after some of the bigger guys like the two you mentioned above. Quite honestly I think Joe Buck would be a complete waste of money.

In order for Baseball commentary to work you need two guys who interact back and forth with stories, experiences, player and team information, etc. That's really the only workaround for developing great Baseball commentary. It's the hardest sports game to develop commentary for because there isn't action every minute, so you need to fill the non action with exciting stories, stats, previous game information, etc. That's a lot of stuff to record and place in a game to make sure it's not too repetitive.

I really agree with this. In fact some of my xbox only buddies actually praise the commentary of the show.

I dont mind the commentary. And at this point if you replace the guy thats been in the game the longest, youre basically scrapping most of the commentary and starting back at the beginning and by the time it gets to a point where its not so bad, you'll be tired of them too. I say keep him

Buck is the most emotionless boring announcer in all of sports. I do not need he monotonous tone putting me to sleep while I try to play. If they do replace Vasgersian, it better not be with Buck.

Because that wouldnt solve the issue. You can put whoever you want as part of the commentary team but unless they are given good lines, and more freedom then you gonna get the same thing. Im pretty sure the commentators didnt decide, lets just not say anything and have a ton of dead air spots during the game. The other company has good commentary in all their sports titles, it has to do with the company not the announcers.

Biggest issue I have is that there is VERY LITTLE from Karros or Lyons...I have noticed times where 2-3 innings go by and only Matty V has been talking...

Again, I think the 'problem' is that Matt V has the lead with 2 sidekicks.
It's a 1-2 combo. The other 2 guys sort of just throw in fluff comments randomly. There really isn't cohesion or natural teamwork going on.

I think the opposite could better the situation, once the game allows (ps4).
a 2-1 team. 2 guys that have the lead with a 3rd voice that crops up randomly and comments on...weather, yesterday's game, a player's hot week, upcoming schedule, etc. And I think Matt V would be fine in that role.

With new things coming around the corner, I think the series could especially use a fresh voice(s) in the booth.
