"…..On a more positive note, I’m told the game looks excellent visually and that it’s close to being ready for an unveiling….”

Re: MLB 24 Article about YTY saves...
I've always said as a RttS only player, I would not purchase any The Show iteration without Y2Y saves. I realize I am in the minority especially with DD the main focus for the franchise now but yea, that's where we are these days.est 1978

Re: MLB 24 Article about YTY saves...
YTY saves was a fantastic feature. I do miss it. However, the game otherwise has not let me down and I'll be first in line for early release as usual. Once I see the release date, it'll be time to schedule that PTO day from work.....lolJUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB 24 Article about YTY saves...
The day the feature was announced I knew it was not sustainable for the long term. Eventually the mode (Franchise/RTTS) would have a big enough change to the mode where YTY saves wouldn't be possible, and you would have to start over. I was completely content with that, knowing that it meant a huge upgrade or overhaul to Franchise or RTTS.
This still has not happened. How different is the franchise mode now compared to when the game dropped y2y saves? Definitely have not seen anything close to an upgrade and certainly not an overhaul.
After getting heavily into OOTP this year with a 30 man league it certainly has scratched my Franchise itch, and with NCAA returning in July, this may be the first year since MLB 09 that I don't purchase the show. The show was the REASON I got a Playstation. Sad to see where it is now on the game modes.Comment

Yeah it’s not coming back, moving to other consoles stopped this happening just like sort going , well Thad’s my take anyway.
I only bought the game this year for the playoff format abs twins unis.. well 2024 gonna have to wow me and have y2y back this time. Because I’m gonna start a new franchise soon again with up to date rosters.Comment

One of the most requested features by their loyal buyers and they refuse to put it back in. It's not that they can't...it's that they won't.
It's database management. They don't want to throw $$ and resources at it because no real ROI for them. Is it technically possible? Of course. The different platforms may pose some technical complexities, but it is doable. They choose not to do it.
Do we really think there is an SDS employee who manually inputs all the players year to year to create the new game's default roster? LOL. They just won't give us what we want.Comment

Re: MLB 24 Article about YTY saves...
The only thing we'll be getting Y2Y is it being the most wanted wish list item year after year. Probably the only way it returns is if another developer takes over making a MLB game for Nintendo and Xbox and MLB lets Sony have their PlayStation exclusive again.T-BONE.

First and foremost, the Y2Y saves feature isn't as popular as you may think. A very small percentage of the user base actually took advantage of this feature. And the mindset of it being one of the most requested features by the loyal fanbase simply isn't true. And part of the reason why it, at this time, doesn't exist.
The part about not wanting to put resources (time/money/development) isn't wrong, but your reasoning for (just not wanting to give us what we want) is.
There is a reason why franchise mode was basically stagnant over the course of Y2Y saves, and that reason being the complexity of adding new features, and getting them to work with previous save files, especially in a one year development cycle, which isn't truly a 12 month process. As the article and CBoller stated, there is a reason no other development team has attempted to copy the feature.
And to further expand they gain no benefit from taking that stance. In fact one could argue that they could possibly increase sales if Y2Y saves returned because then those who don't want to abandon franchises, that they have sank hours into and enjoy, wouldn't have to decide if the newest installment of the game was worth starting over for the new features because they could simply port over their existing franchise and enjoy the benefits of both worlds so to speak.
The extreme vast majority of the fanbase wants franchise mode to get "overhauled" and are seeking numerous changes that are quite frankly long overdue. The complexity that Y2Y saves presents in the development cycle really complicates adding these changes. I don't suspect we would've ever seen the significant change to how the draft works if Y2Y saves still existed. So SDS had a decision to make. Do you continue to support a feature in which statistics show that a very small percentage of your user base utilizes and keep franchise mode relatively the same, or do you remove that feature for the time being, and start addressing the majority of the user base's "demands" by adding in new features and overhauling existing ones to get the mode to the point the user base feels it should've been years ago?
It's not that SDS doesn't want to give their fans what they want, it's that they realized that they simply couldn't give both. So, they chose to take the path that the majority wants, knowing that there is always a possibility of reaching a point where they can re-introduce the Y2Y saves feature.Last edited by countryboy; 01-06-2024, 11:12 AM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
