Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S: 1.0.93

    Nintendo Switch: 1.12

Scheduled to deploy: June 13, 4 AM PT

    GENERAL:

Minnesota Twins City Connect uniform has been added.

    FRANCHISE:

Fixed a bug that could prevent the CPU from making trades.

    DIAMOND DYNASTY:

Seasons collection menu will now display more rows to accommodate all cards collected.

Adjustments were made to the batter’s eye in Cairo to improve ball visibility.

    STORYLINES:

Fixed an issue that would cause an unhandled server exception when trying to replay a moment that was already completed.

    MISCELLANEOUS:

Various commentary and presentation bug fixes and tuning.

    DEVELOPER NOTES:

Foul balls: We’ve made some tweaks to foul balls, primarily impacting the Competitive gameplay style. With poor swing timings, users will now experience more swings and misses.
I do hope the toned down foul balls works for Simulation as well. I'm getting wayyyyyy too many 10-12 pitch at bats from the CPU a game.

So it sounds like foul balls for simulation won’t be effected?

The way it’s stated, it seems like it’s geared more towards user and therefore may only impact user at bats in simulation mode.

IDK it’s going to take playing several games to see the impact especially within franchise mode.

That said I look forward to all the knee jerk reactions tomorrow.

Contrary to the foul balls thing which I saw in a number of places (mostly because it affects gameplay across the whole game), I only saw the trade issue mentioned here. Good job, whoever reported on that one.

So they're going after fouls mostly from the user perspective. Well, that should definitely help the issues in competitive play. Doesn't do much for the vs. AI game, but probably won't make it any worse regarding strikeouts, either (even if you play competitive game style in single-player). I still wish AI discipline could be bumped up some to compensate for the fact that it chases a lot more outside the zone this year.

Could be better, could be worse just from the notes alone. We'll see how it plays tomorrow.

Trades getting fixed right as I'm about to hit my All-Star Break is great timing.

That hasn't really been the case for me. In 50 games I've recorded, the CPU has chased on 30.7% of pitches out of the zone. Teams last year ranged from 25.5% to 32.9% chase rates. The CPU's swing rate on pitches in the zone is 67.9%, really close to the league average of 67.2% (with a range of 63.3 to 70.9) and the overall swing rate of 48.9% is fairly close to the league average of 47.5% (range of 44.4-50.4). And my numbers are lower in the last 5/10/20 games than overall.

Difficultly seems to make a big difference. On legend, I was getting a 51.2% overall swing rate. I've gotten 47.6% on Hall of Fame.

I think CPU Plate Discipline is in a pretty good spot.

Hmm, good data, always nice to see some numbers.

I probably should have been more specific about why I see the CPU's chase rate being so high. Out of curiosity, which pitching interface do you use? If it's classic, I can definitely see where those numbers came from. If it's pinpoint or meter (which I have used both of extensively) I feel like it's too easy to hit my targets just off of the plate - or at least get close enough to them that the CPU will swing (and often miss). On the higher difficulties I aim outside of the zone a lot so as not to be punished by the "in the zone" part of the PAR being over the middle of the plate, even on good input. Pitching like this, It wasn't uncommon for me to see team chase rates of around or over 50%, even on Legend. I didn't actually record those numbers, but I went through some stretches where I checked the in-game data a lot because it felt like something was way off.

Classic is different in that you have much less finer control of where the ball is going overall, and because of that you'll throw more balls far off the plate that the CPU will not go after. As such, its chase rate stays much more where it's supposed to be.

I'm not really against switching to classic to solve this -I already know it works. I just enjoy the feeling of being more in control of what happens, and being rightfully punished if I don't execute on what I'm trying to do. I feel like that doesn't happen like it should on the other pitching interfaces, even with slider tweaks.

I don't know where my chase rates set, in regards to the CPU, but I can't imagine they are anywhere close to 50%, and this is using meter on default legend. I am constantly, so it seems, saying to myself, "how did he lay off of that?" I'm at the end of April of my 2nd season and at the moment I'm average a little of 3 walks allowed per game. I think the combination of more foul balls, lower chase rates, and more "missed" calls inside the zone account for this. I'm also mid-pack in strikeouts per game and I would again attribute it to the same combo listed above.

Like I mentioned above, I don't view foul balls/long at bats as an issue, at least based on personal experience, and don't believe based on the wording in the patch notes that the adjustment is going to have a big impact, if any, on my experience going forward.

Thank heavens they fixed the foul ball issue. Tired of playing against these scrubs in ranked having 12 pitch at bats because the game awards their terrible swings

I don't mind the foul balls either, from the HUM pitching side of things, it helps to get the pitch count up on my starters since I tend to not walk very many against the CPU.

I am on competitive though in my franchise, so I guess I'll see what the impact is.

I am glad they fixed the trading issue since I'm almost to July. Now if they would fix the off-season contracts issue, I would be super happy.

I am hoping the commentary is fixed along with the name database. I'm tired of hearing I'm in Game 7 of the World Series during a game in late May against the Nationals. Or the last name Iglesias being called Hassid.
