Re: MLB The SHOW 25 Franchise Discussion Thread.

You already asked in the other thread but here’s what I wrote:

I just checked. It’s wrong for the Rays, White Sox, Guardians, and Astros for home games only. It seems they change from early games early in the season to night games later in the season.

Then obviously it’s fixed for the following season.

Will this be the "official" franchise thread, or will it be separate?

Edit: As in, will this be where we post how our franchise is going? Or will there be a different stickied thread?

One more thing, I’ve done a quick analysis of the bullpen usage and it’s improved on default sliders. The issue is there are too many starters with CGs and SOs. If you tweak sliders to fix the issue, then the bullpen usage is still good but you have extra SPs and LRP throwing over 100 innings.

So as previously discussed, the issue has everything to do with the lack of roster size/movement and can’t really be rectified until they either expand the roster to 120+ or have more movement between RPs between MLB and the minors.

I personally see myself editing the sliders to have less CGs and SOs and just deal with having a handful of non-starters with higher innings since it seems like this year at least, most of those guys were 6th or 7th SPs that made the roster as LRP instead of all RPs.

I asked this in the impressions thread, but thought I’d post it here as well. Anyone have any insights on the “storylines” feature we saw in the franchise deep dive but they never explained?

They mentioned yesterday pitch counts would be reduced which increases the likelihood of more complete games. Are you seeing this simming or playing games?

You mean pitch counts are reduced which would DECREASE the likelihood of complete games, yes?

This is strictly quick simming through the calendar as I’m focused on the other teams having accurate stats since I don’t do 30 team control. Played games are pretty accurate for me for both my team and the CPU team. Manage Mode/Quick Manage is pretty much the same as played games from the quick look I saw of it since it’s forcing you to go “in-game”.

But in regards to simming, if you don’t touch the stamina and hook sliders, you are looking at the top SPs having 4-7 CGs per year and around 2-4 SOs per year. I’m still tinkering to see if I can get a better balance where the extra SPs don’t pitch too much over 100 innings outside of if they get a bunch of spot starts because it also messes up the Wins and Losses stats for a few rare cases. Those stats aren’t impacted by the regular sliders anywhere near as much.

                Cardinals win on Opening Day

The Cardinals beat the visiting Twins 6-3 yesterday afternoon before a sellout crowd at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals win is the first in the career of interim manager Nolan Miles after Oliver Marmol resigned prior to the 2025 campaign getting started.

The Cardinals jumped out early after Masyn Winn led things off with a double and was driven home by Brendan Donovan one batter later. The Cardinals then jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a 2 run single by Contreras in the 4th. But the Twins would fight back and tie things in the 5th after Matt Wallner led the inning off with a solo homer. Buxton would add a two run double to tie things at 3.

But the Cardinals had heroics left in the tank. With 2 on and 2 out in the 8th, Nolan Gorman belted his first homerun of the season, a 3 run blast into the visiting bullpen to put the Cardinals up 6-3.

Ryan Helsley would close things out in the 9th although things got dicey allowing the tying run to the plate, but Helsley would get back to back strikeouts to end the threat and secure the win.

After an off day on Friday, the two teams get back at it on Saturday with Erick Fedde taking the ball for the Cardinals.

Re: MLB The SHOW 25 Franchise Discussion Thread.

Last night/this morning, I did what I normally do on launch day and simulated a season in Franchise to check out all of the bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, I couldn't for the life of me find how to view the Team History (which has historical records, total WS won, etc.). Does anyone know how to view this info?

The concern is, when guys are inducted into the Hall of Fame or a team wins the WS, there is no record of it moving forward.

Am I just missing something, or did they remove the ability to look at team histories?
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

2025 SEASON IS UNDER WAY FOR THE BRAVES

I started a Braves franchise this morning - Went through and added all or most of the long term injuries that happened IRL.

Pitchers and Catchers reported and the Spring Training, got under way. We've started out ICE cold; Losing our first 5 games of spring... INCLUDING... being no-hit against the nationals (thats the first time i've noticed a no hitter in ST)

I'm sporadically playing a couple innings here and there for ST. Just kind of jumping in and playing with some of the younger guys, more-so the guys that are on the bubble of making the Opening day roster.

Like I said with the major injuries hitting the entire league, it'll be interesting to see how the season plays out. We'll be without Acuna and Strider through all of April and into May.. Sean Murphy will be sidelined for a good part of April as well. I'm excited to see Drake Baldwin have a chance to *hopefully* be our starting coming out of Spring.

Going to finish up ST at some point today and jump into Opening Day tonight!

As always I’m excited to follow this franchise closely.

It keeps me interested and ready to fire my game up. It is always well done sir.

I just play single seasons insead of multi season franchises so after the season ends with Team X, I'll restart a franchise and play with Team Y.

Going to start one today unsure of what team I'll be playing for. Leaning Padres, but I also really enjoy playing with teams I've never been or haven't been recently. I had an absolute blast playing with Baltimore last year, Also thinking Mariners, Pirates,Guardians or Tigers.

I would love it if an MLB team were to make Portland home. Then I might not have to travel 3k miles to watch the Phillies.

Yeah. I don’t like playing with my hometown team (The Angels). I feel like I am to close personally with the players and can’t get into it. I am leaning padres for a franchise this year as well, but I like playing multiple seasons alternating simming and playing

                              Minnesota Twins: 2025 season opener

The game was tied at 3-3 when Cardinals starter Sonny Gray left the game after 6 innings. The Cardinals attacked the Twins early and scored 2 runs in the first innings, after 2 errors by the Twins infield helped them to get to that hot start.

Then Zack Thompson came in and gave up 3 runs, followed by Ryan Fernandez giving up 3 on his own in the same inning. The only run for the rest of the game was a solo shot by Nolan Arenado. In the end it looks like a convincing 9-4 win for the visiting Twins, even though 1 strong inning really was enough.

It is a promising start for the Twins offense even without big contributions by Correa and Buxton(both 1/5, Correa with 3 SO). The third star, Royce Lewis, got off to a better start with a 2 run home run to start the scoring in the 7th inning. Matt Wallner and Edouard Julien hit one out of the park each as well.

On the Cardinals side it was Nolan Gorman with 2 HR who lead the way. Sadly he didn't get much support from his teammates, especially with Runners in scoring positions. Minnesota starter Pablo Lopez gave up 8 hits in 6 innings, so they had enough opportunities to build on the lead even more.

We will see if the bullpen will be the deciding factor in the next 2 games in the series as well. If that happens it would probably mean a sweep to start the season for the Twins.

Cardinals can't complete sweep but win series over the Twins

The Cardinals (2-1) were unable to complete the sweep on Sunday against the Twins, but still took 2 out of 3 to win the series to start the 2025 season.

The Cardinals won on Opening Day 6-3 and then won Saturday 4-1 as Ryan Helsley saved both games. Erick Fedde was remarkable on Saturday tossing 7 innings of 5 hit ball with 6 strikeouts and allowing the one run.

Sunday wasn't a good day for Miles Mikolas who got lit up for 11 hits and 6 runs over just 5 innings of work. The offense was stagnant and the Twins would roll 11-1 over the Cardinals who had just two hits in the game.

The Cardinals will return to action on Monday night as the welcome the Angels to town for a 3 game series to begin the week before taking their first road trip of the season to Boston this upcoming weekend.
