This game feels so scripted at times -

Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
How do you get your twitch broadcasts to save? I have the option checked to save broadcasts but they never save.
Hmm...it works fine for me. You're sure you've got it checked on the user settings on Twitch's website?
Just an idea, but you might try unchecking it, saving, running a quick stream, then checking the box again and saving. Might reset whatever's causing that to not work.
The videos should show up on your dashboard page under "recorded" once they're archiving.
Fair enough. It wasn't terrible overall, but it's still something the batter can look for on 2-0 - I'll compromise on that. It obviously wasn't where I wanted it though (which is why I call it a mistake pitch) - I was hoping to either have it miss slightly out of the zone or nip the very edge of the zone. It got a lot more of the plate than I wanted, and that's the way it goes sometimes with relievers' control.
Some folks equate that to scripting. I see it as a reliever making a mistake.
I completely agree with the idea that the game is not scripted and that the CPU gets a boost in late-game situations. I just thought to provide some input on the pitch. As a former pitcher.. if a guy hits it out on a 2-0 breaking ball, I'm just gonna give a tip of the cap and admit defeat on that one.
I've had my fair share of games where I pull away in the 6th/7th/8th rather than the score getting closer or the lead changing. I feel at times it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy where once someone loses 1 game in a tough fashion, the "here it goes again" mindset comes in and it happens more and more because people are expecting it to, rather than treating each game as its own entity.
My favorite teams are better than your favorite teams
I think about it this way: the difference in timing required between hitting a changeup, fastball, and curveball is less than a second - can we all agree? So over the course of a game, there's literally 75-150 instances where you pushing the button 0.34 seconds sooner, or 0.21 second later, would have given an entirely different result. The difference in literal real-world time between a 10-run outburst and a three-pitch inning is literally a few seconds worth of reaction time.
The same kind of thinking applies to pitching too: no matter what happened on a pitch, you could have done something else that would have worked. The AI doesn't magically hit balls you threw in the dirt, well unless he leaves it up, in which case that's as simple to overlook as his control rating + his confidence + his confidence in the pitch + your execution of the pitch.
I mean just thinking out loud it sounds like I'm saying there are too many variables at play on every single pitch to even allow for "scripting" in any logical sense. Like okay maybe a walk followed by a hit batter kind of led to a "scripted" 3-run bomb, but it's not like you can realistically argue that if the game had a rewind option you wouldn't have been able to find ANY WAY to get the guy out or get out of the inning unscathed. That's ridiculous.
Some of you take the word "scripted" way too literally. I don't think any of us are suggesting every game is already decided before it happens or certain situations are scripted to happen. I think what we're saying is that the game giving a certain team any boost at all is nonsense and even if it doesn't result in said team starting a rally, giving any team a boost to give them the potential for a big inning is simply not realistic at all.

And we are saying that such a boost that gives one side an advantage over another does not occur in the game. That's the whole point and exactly the reason this whole thread is utterly useless.

At the end of the day the users control every aspect of input. Pitch type, location, effort etc. It's on the user and the user only. Bottom line is a lot of people pitch far too passively.

But wait....when I asked why would they do that?.....you said so nobody would go 162-0.
There is no way around saying that....and saying that you're not claiming you're not saying that it's not pre-decided.
This thread is the same regurge nonsense.
But I'll bite one last time.....okay...boost....how and how much?
If I give my players a -10 and the CPU players +10.....are you saying that's enough to have no chance to win against them?

But yet year after year your arguing in the same thread. Lol
This thread exists every year and it comes down to 2 extremes usually.
1. The whiners. People that are crazy for believing that something that has been around in sports games for an eternity, call it scripting or rubber band or whatever, might be in this game also. You always want proof and take it so litterally when in reality its a group of people needing to rant. The whiners.
2. The dicks. People that are soooooo awesome at the game. No scripting is even remotely plausible cause they are way too awesome at being awesome. The most pleasure is derived from making sure the whiners know how crappy they are. The dicks.
As you can probably tell im a whiner. Ive seen this thread year after year and its the same. I used to get involved but its really not worth trying to have perspective on the matter and getting internet bullied for having an opinion.
We gave it a shot. It was at least respectable for awhile and for that I thank you.
But now that this post was made I'm going to close this as it can go nowhere from here:

Awe crap....... I guess I did get involved.
Yea, classifying people as either dicks or whiners is a good way to get a thread closed.
