    Enough With The Suicide Squeezes

The past couple of years this title has probably been my favorite sim ever. But there is one thing that haunts me, and that's the computers reliance on the squeeze play. I watch a lot of baseball, as my wife can attest, and I can't even remember the last squeeze attempt I saw. During my season, in back to back night, Domonic Brown and Nick Markakis both squeezed in situations. I'm dumbfounded and a little shell shocked. You mean to tell me I have to protect against the squeeze in a one run ball game, with runners on the corners, and one out... against flippin' Domonic Brown? SCEA you're giving me a complex. Is Prince Fielder going to squeeze next? I can't be sure.

Please tone down the sucide squeezes. Please. I've bought your game since the PS2 days. I've never asked for anything other than the Braves alt jerseys. Can you at least do me this solid?

For some reason I too have just had back to back games with the opponent trying the squeeze also... Weird.

I don't think I've seen a squeeze yet this year. Interesting.

There have been a few squeezes in the majors this year, but they're usually safety squeezes and not suicides.

The CPU has only attempted it once against me and get this, it was with two outs and the bases loaded. The batter missed the bunt and I tagged the runner out at home. I was thinking, "what the heck?"

I think bunt ratings for guys like Dominic Brown for example need to be zeroed out alltogether. If the AI thinks the player is capable of laying one down then it's gonna do it if the situation calls for it. Truth is, alot of major league hitters these days, especially your middle of the order guys, barely know how to put a bunt down.

That's not remotely true. Just about every position player in the Majors can handle the bat enough to lay down a bunt. It's just a horrible play because the benefit is very minimal, which is why you only see power hitters bunt when they're in slumps.

Ive had quite a few against me as well. Im not a big fan of how easy the bunting is either. The cpu almost never misses or bunts foul.

This happens a lot in my RTTS experience. I've had the CPU bunt with bases loaded and two outs, I've had the CPU bunt with two strikes and two outs (and actually be successful a few times lmao) It hasn't mattered who's at the plate or what the situation is, when the CPU wants to bunt, it friggin bunts.

Now, it is a small percentage when compared to my total experience with the game, but the fact that this happens at such odd times is why it stands out to me so frequently.

I don't think game recognizes the actual hitter and his tendencies. It just sees a baserunner, then automatically bunts him over, regardless of who is batting.

I've already players like Miguel Cabrera, Giancarlo Stanton, and Prince Fielder used sacrifice bunts during in-game sims.

I haven't seen any suicide squeezes this year. The bunting rate seems about right with the right people bunting.

Re: Enough With The Suicide Squeezes

I can almost bet on seeing it in any close game late with a man on third and tied or CPU down by 1.

I've had what someone mentioned where even with two outs it was tried. Even the commentators were befuddled LOL

It's to the point where, even if it was an ideal play, it loses it's effect because I know it's coming. I'll throw the first pitch way out of the zone and get a free out more often than not.

It's really annoying with less than two outs - just try to hit a fly ball. Or maybe a grounder up the middle. Heck, even with the infield in - hit hard enough and not at someone, it's a guaranteed RBI single.

Seen quite a few misses by the CPU on Bunts and have seen quite a few foul balls as a result as well. Struck a player out trying to bunt on a few different occasions.

Yeah cause Dominic Brown is really swinging the bat well in real life right now (probably isn't hitting in MLB the Show either). Nick Markakis has a .356 OBP (career .360) in real life right now. He obviously is an on base guy. 7 Homer runs halfway through the season doesn't really make you a power hitter. I'd say the squeeze situation with Markakis fits the bill.

I have literally not seen a single squeeze attempt in about 150ish games played.

Whether that's true or not, I still think the bunting ratings for these players should be zeroed out to keep the AI from exploiting the squeeze play and sac bunting in the wrong situations. I've also seen a ridiculous number of drag bunt attempts. Not every speedy baserunner is an expert at laying down perfect bunts.
