Perhaps instead of claiming the game doesn't have any special code and asking us to provide proof, why don't you provide proof that there isn't other than a developer, who would stand to lose their job and sales, claiming there isn't? Do you have coding proof that there isn't? Didn't think so.

As I said, I'm a firm believer that the CPU is either given a boost or the strike zone is intentionally shrunk in the later innings of a close game to promote competition. Do I have proof of this? Only my personal experiences. Am I allowed to have an opinion on the subject? Damn straight, just as much as you are.
This thread winds up this way every year.
There are people that feel the gameplay has comeback code, a boost, cheese, whatever you want to call it.
then there are people that defend the game and say it doesn't exist.
it turns into a huge debacle every year.
I think you are absolutely right in that your allowed your opinion. I also feel like the people who believe the game doesn't have comeback code, a boost, cheese, should just stay away from the thread because to me all the thread is is people venting. Let em. Who cares.

Please, explain this to me.

Two games ago I won 12-3. It wasn't even close.

Now I'm about to lose 6-0 (probably worse).

If a code like this existed, and blowouts like I see all the time are possible, wouldn't you have to agree that not only would complex comeback logic programming exist, but that it would also have to be SO COMPLEX that it could situationally turn itself off too?

Under what criteria would it do that? Did the game feel mercy on me and "let me win" 12-3? Is it now getting back at me while I'm down 6-0? Does it do it just for divisional games or when you're up 10 or more in the standings?

If it existed it would have to follow these sorts of rules. Which is totally absurd so why don't any of you believers think about these things? Or are you telling me you've never ever ever ever ever ever seen a blowout??? Because if you have you have to consider my question. Or consider it couldn't possibly exist. For the latter, we could at least have a conversation about real improvements the series could make.

As long as we're talking make believe, that can never happen.

Re: Anyone else noticing CPU cheese?

This same convo is in every sports game thread I read through.......my question is if the cpu never does anything out of the ordinary or makes spectacular comebacks then how is that truly replicating real life? Crazy stuff happens in sports all the time that can't be explained......if everything in the game happened just like it "should " then that would be very boring to me.....just my opinion

I wrote elsewhere here about playing the cpu O's in DD mode. I have machado in my squad so it was me machado and cpu machado.

Cpu machado went 5-5. Including hitting 2 homers on sinkers I threw down in the zone. Both would have been balls if he had taken them. How he got the bat under to elevate I will never know because the replay made no sense, line drive over 2nd base? Ok but no, homers.

Meanwhile my machado got a fastball up that was a borderline meatball I timed perfectly and popped up for an easy out.

I dont want this to be the case, but I am starting to feel scripting in the hitting. Bizarre things are happening with batting and the results dont match the situations so I am having a hard time matching up the incongruencies with what I have seen watching real baseball all my life. Or even just playing all the releases of the show.

There are times in this game where situations happen and you feel in your soul what should happen yet what plays out is not it.

Miggy squares up a 2 seamer thrown middle in and grounds out weakly to first? What?

All this being said, something still draws me in and I keep playing.
Tell me something, have you ever seen a middle of the order hitter slam his bat on the ground, throw their helmet or show any other frustrations? If you have do you think maybe they're frustrated because they were sure they had read the pitch and got all of it only to wind up popping up or hitting a weak grounder? Now have you ever seen a guy have a career day, in the zone and accomplish things that just don't seem possible? Like hitting a homerun on a sinker out of the zone? Obviously, if you've ever watched baseball in your life you've seen these things happen so why shouldn't it happen in the show? Just because it went against you it makes it comeback code and/or the cpu receiving some kind of boost? It's baseball, these things happen and I've had it go my way just as much on all levels (except legend cause I've never felt good enough to try).

Why should those who aren't seeing it provide proof? I've played nearly 50 games thus far and haven't seen anything like it. The devs say it isn't there, they haven't programmed a code.

You believe its there. Ok, provide proof. If the devs haven't intentionally put in a code, then maybe something is happening that is causing the code to kick in. Record your games and submit it to the devs so they can look and see if possibly there is something there. The PS4 gives you all the tools. If you really believe it exists and really want it fixed, I don't understand why you wouldn't take the time to submit a video instead of continously posting over and over that its happening. That avenue isn't working.

But I'm sure the response to this will be, "why should I provide proof..blah, blah, blah". The answer to that is because you and a very small percentage of players are the only ones seeing it.

Re: Anyone else noticing CPU cheese?

Every year when I see the first comeback thread I say to myself, "This is the year this discussion can go well."

Well I was wrong again, see you next year comeback AI thread. Maybe next year will be the year.
