Rubberbanding AI is killing my enjoyment

So far in my season, every game my bullpen coughs the lead. Just now I was up 4-2 with Walden pitching the 8 th. I use the meter for pitching and quick counts. 8 th place hitter comes up with a 3-0 count, fastball perfect on the meter, ball goes way off target. Pinch hitter, they get a 3-1 count and rock a seeing eye single. Marte comes up, ball is hit to 2nd, Wong throws it into the stands. Tie game.

Harrison up next against Belisle, and first pitch is a homer.

Seems to happen a lot this year. No lead is safe, which can make for some excitement, but it also creates frustration since I feel I'm constantly burning through my pen, since you know no matter who comes in the run is scoring.

Anyone else feel this way on this years game?

No lead is supposed to be safe. Ask the LA Clippers.

I was going to ask if you're falling into a pitching pattern, but you are using quick counts. Typically that is what happens to people as the game goes along they tend to stick with what works, which is the right mentality until it doesn't work anymore.

How many games has your bullpen blown? How many games has your team been up but then gotten beat by comeback wins?

And we have all had games like this, it happens. I've had them both in my favor and against me. Heck, I just gave up 10 runs in the final 9 outs to the Padres and lost in extra innings (I play as the Cardinals btw) Sometimes it just happens. No explanation, just the baseball Gods are not on your side that day.

I just threw my first no hitter ever. Rubberband ai would not allow that.

OP, if you're pitching on hall of fame difficulty or higher, don't. Lower it to all star and tweak sliders to make it more difficult, somewhere between all star and hall of fame.

I just threw my first no hitter ever. Rubberband ai would not allow that.

I also threw one earlier this year, but I have also had the off the wall type game. I was up 8 -0 going into the bottom of the 9th and lost 9-8. I went through 4 pitchers in that half inning and never even got an out. Every hit was on the 1rst or 2nd pitch and it was a double to the gap or a HR. I've also thrown a 1-0 shutout. So it goes back and forth.

There's no rubberband AI. If you are playing on difficulties above All-Star where sliders are adjusted to give advantage to the CPU (like in every sports game ever), consider reducing the difficulty to something you can handle.

I used to think this way, but the more I watch my Rays struggle game after game. The more I realize that the game is not far off from reality as far as this goes. I know it's frustrating, but you know what else is frustrating? Watching the Rays some nights...

So the fact that I get the same enjoyment from watching baseball, as I do from the show, and that I get the same disappointment from watching baseball as I do from the show is great for a video game to capture so I applaud them at scea

I honestly used to think there was a rubberband AI as well, but then I realized it was mostly my own doing. Say I would pull my starter halfway through the 6th inning. My entire mind set would change, when my started was in I would concentrate hard on every pitch, focus on what as going on, and not think about the next inning. But once the starter was gone, it was "Ok, get through the rest of the 6th, get the 7th inning guy through a quick inning so I can get the set up guy in, and then on to the closer, and I win." I was no longer concentrating on my pitches, I was trying to rush through innings to get to the next one. Once I realized I was causing myself to blow a lot of leads, I changed my approach to pitch just like I did when the starter was in. I still blow leads sometimes, I still blow saves sometimes, that is baseball. But it is no longer happening every game. The rubberband AI is a myth, like Bigfoot in my opinion.

Just played a franchise game with the Reds against the Cubs (on HOF pitching, on AS even with slider adjustments, it was too easy). Up 2-0 going into the 9th, I bring in Chapman, get the first two out then allow back to back walks, a single that scored a run, then gave up a 3 run home run to Wellington Castillo and end up losing the game 4-2. Yes I was ticked off, but that's baseball. Next game I win the game on a easy out to the pitcher, that was bobbled and allowed me to score. You never know what to expect with the Show and that's why I love it. The game of baseball is great.

There is no rubberbanding/comeback AI. There are factors which cause a team to lose a lead, pitcher fatigue (at 40% of stamina a relief pitcher's attributes decline) and stamina being factors but it isn't the same as rubberbanding.

I try to keep a second reliever ready in the bullpen.

I'm gonna ask the same question I always ask when someone makes a thread like this.

If there is a rubberbanding AI, or a comeback code, or whatever you want to call it, then how can anyone ever win a game against the AI?

And the Braves were up 9-1 and 10-2 on the Nationals a few weeks ago and lost. Then Shelby Miller went on to be an out away from a no hitter just a few weeks later.

I don't believe real life has rubberband AI. Seems like The Show is representing the game of baseball pretty well.
