Re: Defense is HUGE this year

I'm seeing great plays being made in the field by both myself and the cpu.

Played a ST game last night vs the Mets and David Wright made a diving stop in the hole going to his left, got up quickly and fired out the runner at 2nd and then the 2B turned the double play. Even though it happened to me, I loved it.

two things i noticed:

+Cespedes botches a routine fly ball in the install demo.
+ in 1 and 1/2 games at third Headley fumbled a routine grounder and had bad range at a easily playable grounder which got past him into left.

so far so good.

Are we talking about Carlos Correa? If so he's at least above average and scouts have said for a few years that defensively he was ready for the MLB. His hitting has caught up now and that's why they brought him up, but overall he's a good defender. He's still young and makes mistakes but the arm strength is there.

Posted this in the media thread, but yeah...it definitely matters. This is from a CPU vs CPU game I watched last night.

Ouch. At least Schwarbs' bat makes up for it...

That's nice, but I'm more interested in CPU vs User and how defense matters for both. Like I said earlier, if Correa is having trouble throwing out baserunners with speed in the 70's, how are the other shortstops in the game doing? I've looked and not many with better arm ratings than Correa.

I've tried out a ton of SS and the only SS that has been consistent with throws is Simmons and Tulo.

Reyes has made some nice throws but has also chucked some balls in the dugout

Defense has most definitely been upped in this year's edition. For instance, in my series against the Red Sox, Hanley Ramirez booted 4 catches at 1B in the first 3 innings of game 1. Pretty accurate if I do say so myself.

Re: Defense is HUGE this year

I use to never even give a second thought to the defensive ability of my pitchers. I got mad when the auto training would train up their defense. But then I started playing 16. Now I wish I had some pitchers with good defense ratings.
