I absolutely suck at bunting. NO matter who I use a pitcher a batter all the bunts are the same. Hard and no softness to them what so ever. What is the key to bunting?

I'm on PS4 and all I want to do is sac bunt with my pitcher is there a different button I should be holding?

I can't remember if there is a bunting slider. So you might want to check that. In terms of the mechanics, make sure you lay off it if it is high (and by high, I mean anything above half-way up the batter's thigh). You'll usually pop those up. The best ones to bunt are breaking balls and offspeed pitches around the knees or lower (but not in the dirt). Bunting fastballs usually results in what you are seeing; too much exit velocity. Lastly, check the bunting attributes of the batter in question. If they are low, you're going to have a hard time getting a good bunt down.

No slider for bunting. Other then that, 100% agree with the rest. Try to bunt balls low in the zone, and not fastballs if possible. Just to add, I use directional hitting and always hold the LS down and left or right (5 oclock or 7 oclock position)


Bunting is harder now because they catered to the online community. So the rocket bunts are a product of not allowing online players to abuse bunting. So, you need to really hit the right spot and pitch to get a successful bunt down.

I realized they catered to the online community for this, but I really hope they address bunting somewhat in a patch. How do you play as a national league team, and 90% of the times you bunt- it is a rocket but for a double play

It's been an issue for two years now. Some DD players would cheat by abusing the bunting system, so they put these ridiculous rocket bunts into the game making bunting nearly impossible, even when playing the CPU offline. They should address this and make it so rocket bunts only happen when playing DD.

At least I know it's not me sucking....I have only been playing DD right now while I wait for some more updated rosters through our group but unless I'm moving my runner on the pitch bunting into a FC or DP is going to happen all the time.

I would give this game a solid 8.5 or 9 out of 10 for gameplay but the bunting takes it down to a 7.

The bunting is frustrating. I hate it, but I know what guys I can bunt with, with some success, but I still try to do it when I need to in a game. It just really is a hit or miss type thing unfortunetly

This is atrocious. Trying to play small ball is not only pointless it is actually counterproductive.

This is what happens when you stretch a development team too thin and focus on the cash cow ultimate team modes. You lose the core of the gameplay and break things on purpose in the attempt to appease a faction of your audience that obviously would rather win at all costs than replicate the actual sport the game is designed around and named after.

This needs to be addressed or this game will be shelved soon.

Think maybe the Lead Bunt Programmer is a Sabrematician? He's pushing the agenda there is never a correct time to bunt.

Real question is if it is fixable through a patch. I play small ball on these games and I play offline.

Hit the nail on the head. I tried to sac bunt Billy Hamilton to 3rd yesterday and the 3B grabbed it and had enough time to run to the bag and tag him out. A Dev needs to tell us when this will be fixed ASAP!

Agreed. Just rented the game from redbox before buying it because that's my rule on new games. I have played the show 15 since it came out on PS4 and I'm still playing it. 18 is really close to it in smooth gameplay since I play small ball but the bunting has to/need to be fixed

Try to bunt towards first base and hope that the first baseman gets locked into a tagging animation before he throws to second.
