I still want to know if people are experiencing rocket bunts with the better bunters
or just those who aren't great bunters.

I get it with everyone.

In fact, once it created a hit because it got past the pitcher, past where the 3B was coming and in front of the SS.

A bunt.

I don't bunt much, but i have practiced bunting with Deshields and Escobar (KC) and seems like most sacrifice bunts are close almost 40 mph or more, and toward the first baseman, if i dont push any direction. A few go to other locations, but they usually perform like slow ground balls that infielders charge, and usually get to them in time to throw the batter out. Even if i bunted past the pitcher, the second baseman was able to charge the ball (from double play depth) and throw the batter out. They never were able to turn a double play on me (rarely even tried), and usually the play was at first, unless the pitcher fielded it very quickly.

Drag bunts seem to perform a tiny bit better but not a lot.

Deadening the bunt while timing the pullback seemed to worked to some degree, sometimes. But seemed difficult to pull the bunt down the 3B line for a right hander, i guess due to the angle of the bat during the pullback maybe.

Drag bunting and directing down with the left stick SEEMED to have the best results for a deadened bunt, but it wasn't conclusive.

None of this is conclusive, just some observations during about 30 minutes of practice, when i tried it a while back.

I didnt try to bunt with anyone with low bunting skills to compare. Most bunts would have rolled at least to the infield dirt, or outfield fringe/grass if they weren't fielded.

Has anyone tried bunting in practice mode? I think I’m gonna try this tonight. I play with the Padres and the CPU puts the shift on Headly. Once in awhile I try to lay a bunt down the third base line but it’s always a rocket right to short. 😡

Yup, I do. Thay's why I know that what I posted earlier in the thread works consistently (regarding sacrifices)

I’m going to try your technique in practice today. I’m not trying to lay down a sac bunt but bunt for a single (to perhaps start a rally) so might not work but I guess I’ve got to start somewhere.
