I've just found that having some form of structure around what I'm doing has made it so easy to get/stay engaged. I actually spent over a month going back and forth with someone on baseballtradevalues.com before settling on a hypothetical trade hahaha.

I think following Countryboy's progress over the years is what made me really commit to a long term franchise. I actually get a kick out of how much fun that guy has with this game.
What are your house rules if you don't mind me asking?

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

Ended up going with neither the Yankees or pirates and instead went with the reds decent enough team to try to contend or trade away some pieces while managing some of the bad contracts. Playing 1 game every 5 to rotate starters. 5-7 so far 0-2 in played games playing on legend for hitting and pitching.

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

I tend to see what the other popular franchise teams are being used and go the opposite way. Pirates, Rockies, Orioles are often used at least in 21 and while I was choosing between the Padres, Rays and Phillies I ultimately decided to go with the Rays as they have a mix of right now talent and talent also in the minors. Plus it's interesting to use openers and things of that nature when it comes to the pitching staff. It's not easy settling on a team unless you always just go with your real life favorite team but I tend to lean the other way in that regard because I want my franchise to be my baby and don't want to be influenced by real life events with my team.

Pick the Yankees, they got good prospects young arms and position players to keep or trade for pitching need.

Texas Rangers for two reasons:
1) I live in Texas
2) Jon Daniels is the most overrated GM (now team president) in all of baseball

Kansas City is always a challenging and fun team to rebuild, but this year when I get the game I think I will take over Seattle. They have a decent farm system and a lot of roster flexibility.

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

the first year I played the majority of my baseball video gaming in the Show was 09 & I was bummed out on the Barves because of their '07-'08 performance, I had major indecisions so (to the best of my recollection) this is what I did, or something similar:

April - played as AL East - O's
May - played as NL West - Rockies or D'Backs
June - played as AL Central - White Sox
July - played as NL Central - Reds or Pirates
August - played as AL West - A's or M's
September - played as NL East - Atlanta

- October Post-Season -
rolled a pair of dice to determine what I did
(I still like to sim a season and do this every year the last dozen years)

Snake Eyes or Boxcars - no post-season for me
7 - reroll
6 - AL Wild Card
8 - NL Wild Card
9 - NL #3 seed (division winner)
10 - NL #2 seed (division winner)
11 - NL #1 seed (division winner)
5 - AL #3 seed (division winner)
4 - AL #2 seed (division winner)
3 - AL #1 seed (division winner)

when MLB added a second wild card to each league I replaced the snake eyes (2 - AL) & boxcar (12 -NL) no post-season rolls in exchange for the second wild card teams from the AL & NL

Re: For the indecisive franchise guy

I played with Baltimore last year and moved them to Montreal I had much fun despite being lousy. However, I’m not as much into relocating them this year. I started a 30-team franchise and play with the Jays, Cubs and Indians mostly, and with the Nats, sometimes, wearing the Expos jersey (how dare I?!). I feel Miami could turn into an exciting team to play with, they have speed, which I prefer over power. Their starting pitching is young. But.. I can’t focus on one team in particular...as always
