I do not recall them ever saying that.

I'm pretty sure it's in your hitting thread, but I don't know how to find it. I'll dig through it for their comment if you can post to get it on the main page.

I found it. In your Directional hitting guide, post #652 on page 82 Brian SCEA is quoted by you saying...

" (Directional simulates your PCI placement for you and passes it to the engine). In Zone hitting you pick the timing and PCI location. In Directional you pick the timing and influence PCI location (or if you don't influence, it picks for you). For this reason it is better not to influence than to influence randomly and get it half right and half wrong."

I guess I was doing Directional wrong. I thought you were influencing groundball/flyball, push/pull not PCI direction. Oops.

When I used directional I would get a bunch of lazy fly balls if I didn't press a direction.

Felt it forced you to pick one and it didn't work well to be just timing. Pure analog was the closest but felt limited with use of contact swing and I really don't like the PCI being part of the equation. If it's based on ratings and situation under the hood it doesn't bother me so much.

Re: Timing hitting back?

Could just be me looking for differences, but it seems there's a bigger variety of contact and hits using just timing as opposed to directional.

Re: Timing hitting back?

Wasn’t it just that directional was the same as Timing that Judy not choosing a direction turned it into timing anyway ?

Re: Timing hitting back?

I’m pretty sure that unless you chose a influence with directional hitting the pci would remain dead center. This is why it would be so difficult to hit pitches say at the top or bottom of the strike zone and nearly impossible to hit something outside the zone. With timing the pci is moved with the pitch based on user’s timing and player ratings. I will say that timing has the smallest timing window while zone has the largest.
