NBA 2K21 "The Eccentric Edition" - Next-Gen Slider Set

The PS5 is here, and with it comes a 2K game worth buying? Well hopefully, as I'm downloading the game as we speak. Rest assured it will probably be on sale for 50% off next week, because I can't have nice things...

Anyway, thought I'd get a jump on the next-gen version early so that I might have a slider set posted before the playoffs next year. If you know you know

3/1 Progress Report: I am finally posting a full (BETA) slider set for the 2K default roster. After literal months of brain-numbing work, I am finally satisfied enough with the results to post the full set. And, partially, I also just want to move on to use the MUCH BETTER Attention to Detail Roster by CelticLG et al.

You will still need to do a mass-edit of all players to decrease the Speed w/Ball attribute by 15, then make sure to set all of the Speed w/Ball (Max/Min) sliders to 55 to offset this decrease. Instructions for how to do this can be found below after clicking the SPOILER tag.


2K Default Roster Slider Set v0.9 *BETA* - 3/1 Update:

IMPORTANT: Main Menu > Features > Create Roster > NBA > Official 2K Roster
Cycle over to "All Players" via L1/LB, enter Quick Edit, move over to the SPD/BALL column, press X/A to Edit Column, and decrease this rating by 15. This will lower the Speed with Ball rating for all players, which will drastically improve the look and feel of movement while also fixing the issue of athletic forwards (Lebron, Ben Simmons, Giannis, etc.) being WAY too fast with the ball. This step was not needed until 2K broke the Speed with Ball (Max) slider this past week. Until this slider is fixed, I HIGHLY recommend using a roster with this edit in place. Remember to load the roster via L3 in Play Now.


IMPORTANT: Pause > Gameplan > Coach Sliders > Help Defense - 100
This will make the defense rotate and help when needed.
*Unfortunately you'll have to do this for both teams at the start of every new Play Now game, except when selecting "Rematch" at any point after you've already made the change.*

Coach Settings
ACE: Defense Only (Having Offense ACE set to ON breaks the auto offensive playcalling and the game will only call 3 or 4 plays on repeat all game)
PlayVision - All Plays
PlayVision Display - Full
Offense Playcalling - Auto

These settings make your offense wake the hell up! Your AI teammates will no longer stand around doing nothing. Instead, they will be running plays and creating opportunities for your half-court offense.

Shoutout to OS user talucchessi for the Pass Target Profile settings. Now I don't ALWAYS have to use icon passing when using Broadcast Cam!

This camera view makes the game come ALIVE! It will take a few minutes to get used to, but I think that once you do you won't be able to play the game any other way!

Feel free to use the Broadcast camera view if you'd prefer. The game still looks and plays great from that view (I actually used it in my testing to make sure the player/animation speed was realistic), I just prefer the Drive camera.

• These movement sliders remove the slow-motion movement of unathletic bigs, while still making athletic players stand out. Slightly hampers the user's ability to sprint-abuse their way to the basket, though a previous tuner update by 2K broke the functionality of the "Speed with Ball (Max)" slider so there's no longer a way to slow down the top-speed of players with the ball via sliders. None of the subsequent patches or tuners have fixed this. Athletic forwards are too fast with ball and have very little weight to their movement. Again, for the best gameplay, I 100% recommend mass-editing the roster to decrease Speed w/ Ball rating by 15 for all players.

PLEASE post any and all CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, positive or negative, so that I know what people like about my slider set and what I need to improve on! Also, please post any and all personal findings and/or tweaks you've tried out! Try to point out what you are seeing too much of (ex. The AI attacks the basket too often), what you're not seeing enough of (ex. The AI does not go to the post often enough), etc. And also, it's just fun to see the results everyone is getting and to have a discussion on what can be improved/what should be left alone.

First impressions, default Superstar settings:

Graphics are INCREDIBLE.
Movement is a little floaty.
Animations too often ignore nearby defenders.
Driving to the rim is too easy and feels like there's no resistance.
AI offensive decision making is TERRIBLE.
Players move too fast with the ball in their hands.
I SAW A SHOOTING FOUL ON A JUMP SHOT :O
PnR defense is GOD AWFUL. Criminally-bad.

So far, I'm impressed with the game and the problems SEEM easily fixable :cheer:

12/2 UPDATE: All above issues have been resolved in my current test build, and a full slider set will be posted once I'm finished fine-tuning help defense and AI tendencies.

If you can figure out how to get fouls and free throw attempts anywhere close to realistic numbers I will buy you a drink.

I have foul sliders at 100 and the cpu regularly has around 4 free throw attempts all game. In 7 mynba games they havent had more than 6.

I have foul sliders at 100 and the cpu regularly has around 4 free throw attempts all game. In 7 mynba games they havent had more than 6.

Shouldn’t be difficult, actually. I’m already seeing a realistic number of Charging and Blocking fouls, and that’s just with the default Hall of Fame settings. I’m also seeing multiple shooting fouls a game on jump shots. These were the issues you just couldn’t solve in previous years, so it looks like they at least took care of that for us.

Once I fix the AI offensive tendencies, I’m confident I’ll be able to get plenty of free throws for them [emoji1305]

Well that's what I get for being confident. Spent the last few hours trying EVERYTHING I can to fix the pick n roll issue, but it's a gameplay issue that goes beyond what sliders can fix. 2K has to patch it or else the game will quite simply be unplayable.

At least this lets me put 100% of my focus on the movement sliders and then the AI tendencies, but until 2K fixes this gamebreaking glitch I don't see myself devoting any additional time or effort to the game after that.

Looks like they rushed that fix out in the tuner this morning! I can no longer replicate the glitch with the hedge defender that I was triggering 100% of the time last night. Hopefully the patch just improves help defense and rotations, but the PnR glitch is gone at least

It’s terrible. Jittery/floaty movement; complete lack of animations when players SHOULD be bumping into each other or pushing past each other; inconsistent contact animations on drives and layups/dunks; the animation for taking a charge has 0 weight or interaction with the dribbler, it just kind of triggers on its own while the dribbler carries on doing whatever he was doing as if the defender wasn’t even there.

Bringing back some serious 2K19 vibes where the movement and animations were just completely broken or half-integrated into the game. I’m trying my best to fix what I can, but I think this will need a patch along with the woeful help defense.

Yea, usually the gameplay is too slow and the players just have 0 athleticism. This year they “fixed” that but made everyone TOO athletic and the animations are a bit of a joke at even 50 Game Speed. Lower game speed is a must, unless they drastically change things with a patch.

I’ll be dropping the on-ball speed and acceleration as well, so things will actually look realistic and have some weight behind movement.

Yea, once I post my movement/speed/acceleration sliders they should work with pretty much any set.
