NBA 2K19 - Playing Four Days Early Only Achievable From $99.99 Anniversary Edition

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but playing four days early this year can only be achievable if you pre-order the $99.99 20th Anniversary Edition.

Pre-ordering the standard $59.99 edition will NOT allow you to play early (as it has every year in the past).

Yeah it's been known. I suppose it's kinda our fault when we all hunted to get the game early. 2k noticed how much people were willing to pay just to play early. Too bad 2k fails to understand that its the thrill of getting something that broke the street date that makes the game getting early more thrilling.

I'm getting the other game first so I can get my early bball fix. I'll get the standard 2k version four days later as I'm going to use the cash I saved from not ordering the 100 dollar version on VC.

That is lame. I am already wary of supporting 2k going forward with all the micro transactions. Maybe I will give NBA Live a chance at launch this time. When I get Live 2nd after already starting 2k's Career/Myteam modes I tend to give it less of a chance.

Yep, that sucks. It isn't worth an extra $40 just to play 4-days early for me (I know you get other stuff with it, but I don't really care about VC or MyTeam cards). I can wait for the standard edition.

I’ll be fine watching from afar as the game is patched over and over until around Christmas time. Thank goodness for PC gaming. I hope this installment doesn’t betray the loyal console consumers like 2k18 did.

I have no intentions of getting 2k early this year.

I also have no intentions of getting 2k on release.

This is the year I sit and wait. I'll mess with the demo and simply wait. I'll get my basketball fix on the TV. I might even completely skip the next several years of 2k until they fix their defense. I'll wait for a 2k19 thread on defense along with real video evidence showing massive improvement before I even consider.

HOF, default sliders, User vs CPU. Using the same exact legacy code for transition defense shows how terrible the get-back defense is. The defenders are completely out of position. The defenders does not even track their man as the defenders sprint back.

Im with that strawberryshortcake guy, im gonna wait and see if they've truly worked on fixing the game by watching gameplay videos or looking at threads. And if i see them ignoring easy fixes and still focusing on trying to sell people on VC etc, i just wont get the game.

I wish these companies stop with this "4 days early" crap. The release date is the 7th. They are choosing to hold back the standard edition til the 11th to pressure you into buying the $100 version. Your not actually getting the 20th anniversary edition 4 days early, you would just be getting the standard edition 4 days late if you went that route.. Live releases on the 7th as well, and thats likely the earliest date the NBA gave them for release. EA is doing this nonsense with Madden as well.

I'm in the same boat, I will not be getting early or on release if at all.

The P.O.E. has to work before I consider the purchase
The Defense has to work and adapt hell at least 70% of the time before I consider the purchase.

The game has a lot of moving parts and for the most part they are dumb.

Yep. Madden did this last year and I waited for the standard edition just like I'll wait for 2k's standard edition this year. CEOs are steering the ship at 2k now more than ever due to it's financial success. I'm pretty sure Wang, DaCzar, etc. aren't to blame for this decision.

Good to see people taking the stance of holding off on purchasing until they see the improvement in the areas that matter to them...now you have to actually stick to your guns lol.

No way I'm paying $100 to get the game early,...I'm not feeling this move at all to alienate the standard edition users.....That's all I'll say on the matter....

NBA Live 19, release date: September 7th, for standard edition.

Promotion: 33% off if you preorder through NBA Live 18. Basically, $40, $36 for EA Access members.

So pay less, and save VC money. IMO 2k is giving ground to competition by slowly pricing themselves out. It cost more VC than ever last year to become competitive, all the while they charge more for the game to get it early.
