    NBA 2k12 (PS3) Roster File Resign - PS3 Xploder

YES! The PS3 Xploder works for NBA 2k12! It took me a while to figure it out but I successfully downloaded and transferred a third party 2k12 roster to my PS3! Here is the tool. I was a little wary about buying online but I did, downloaded it, and they send you an activation code -- you can also find this on Amazon if you want the disc.

    http://us.xploder.net/products/175/Xploder-PS3-Ultimate-Cheats-System.htm

It's a little confusing but here is a video on it. The process still doesn't make sense to me but it worked!

Here are the directions from my standpoint after watching the video:

    Preliminary Steps:

    1. Place the new (3rd party) roster file (just the "BLU....") in a separate folder on your desktop.

    2. Place one of your own roster files in a separate folder on your desktop.

    3. Format your USB memory device using Xploder (Advanced / Format Memory Stick). After that, copy one of your own roster files to the USB memory device and paste it in the PS3 / SAVE DATA folder. Refresh your USB memory device and when the console and user are displayed on the right side of Xploder (from the files on your USB memory device), rename them so Xploder recognizes them in the future (e.g., "My Console," your profile name, etc.). [NOTE: Once you have done this, any time a roster files is placed in the PS3 / SAVEDATA folder on the USB Drive and you refresh the memory device, the appropriate Console / User will be displayed.]

If you want, re-format the memory device, and then copy and paste the 3rd party roster file in the PS3 / SAVEDATA file folder and refresh so you can name the 3rd party console / user so it will appear later on.

    Main Steps:

    4. Format the Memory Device (over-write / delete everything you did in the preliminary steps).

    5. Copy the 3rd party roster file and paste it in the USB's PS3 / SAVEDATA folder. With Xploder, refresh the USB memory device. On the right hand side of Xploder, it should show Unknown Console, Unknown User and the roster file (unless you have previously renamed the console / user during a prior resign process in the preliminary steps, in which case, the console / user will be identified).

    6. Drag the roster file from the right side to the "PS3 GameSaves" folder on the left side of Xploder. Click "Move."

    7. Now go grab your roster file from the folder you placed it in on your desktop, copy it, and then paste it in the USB's PS3 / SAVEDATA folder (which is currently empty as a result of moving the file as indicated above).

    8. Now, go back to Xploder and refresh your USB memory device. Your console and your user profile should now appear.

    9. Drag the roster file on the left side of Xploder (below "MY PS3 GameSaves") to your profile on the right (over top of the roster file). It may ask you to overwrite the other file, but if not, that's okay, it should just appear as an additional file below your profile.

    10. Transfer the roster file from your USB memory device and put it in a separate PS3 / SAVEDATA folder (as is typical when transferring files to / from a PS3), put it on a separate USB and put it in your PS3 and transfer the file to your PS3 as you would typically.

Now Play 2k12 and load the roster file!

I knew it would work, method can be confusing at times, but once you done it a few times it's pretty easy.

Your post gave me enough confidence to give it a try -- so THANK YOU! It took me some time to figure it out but once I got it, I successfully transferred 2 separate files so I think I've got it down. I figured it would help me (and possibly someone else) to write down all of the steps.

        Does this work for 2K13?

If it does, doesnt this mean we can hex edit if we can get an editing tool?

Edit: Nevermind I dont think thats what you are saying

We could, had 2k13 not been encrypted ... now we can rehash/resign, next step is to unencrypt the file ... this would enable hex editing or editing with a tool ... its not a piece of cake but have hopes that it can be done !

From what I can tell, I can't share the product key -- sorry. It's $20 to get software.

It allows for offline sharing of PS3 files -- so it should work the same for 2k13 as it does for 2k12 and other PS3 games. It doesn't allow for hex edit -- just the sharing by resigning so that a 3rd party file is made to look like it was created by you so it will work on your PS3.

So at least we know we have a tool that is is basically the equivalent of "Horizon" or "Modio" for the Xbox, although it isn't free, for the resigning / rehashing part. So as was stated above, we just need another tool "to to the dirty work" of editing the file.

Okay -- let's figure this out.

Do we know for sure that you can't transfer an offline (not thru 2kshare) PS3 roster file for NBA 2k13? Has anyone tried this?

Assuming we can't, I'm happy to test out PS3 Xploder for 2k13. I'll need someone else's NBA 2k13 roster file to see if I can "resign" it to work on my PS3.

There you can find all sorts of files, even association ... hope it works !

Also, on a separate note, since you could transfer 2k12 files ... can you see if the 2k12 roster file can be hex edited and then rehash/resigned ? ... that would be huge, because if possible, then 2k13 could, after we get it to be uncrypted.

                      Thanks for your contributions !

I have no clue how to hex edit -- that's beyond me.

I will download a 2k13 roster file and see if I can resign it to make it work on my PS3.

I just successfully downloaded and resigned the "Jordan Jordan" NBA 2k13 custom roster (that was on the PS3 editing tool thread) using PS3 Xploder so that it would work on my PS3. So we know there is a way to resign the 2k13 and 2k12 rosters -- even if it is a tool you have to pay for. Might be worth letting Vlad know about the PS3 Xploder -- he may know how it works.

For what it's worth, I also found this tool for resigning. It's a little more expensive than PS3 Xploder but given there are a couple of products out there, someone should be able to figure out how to create a free, simple tool like Horizon for Xbox.
