Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?

I mean, in no way am I a cheeser of sorts.

But I'm a HEAVY jumpshooter. I'd rather work a quick iso and get off a clean looking jumpshot instead of rushing to the basket for a 360 dunk.

And sim mode just doesn't let me drop my shots, even when the screen tells me I have perfect releases and I have a clear advantage over my matchup. Also, for some reason, the forwards just seem invincible! And One's everywhere, their post move shots always drop...

I know the sim nation of 2K is in love with this gaming style, but I'd rather play on a hard *** difficulty with Default settings. Am I the only one?

Not sure why you have trouble getting mid range's to go in... I feel like this year's game puts more of an emphasis on jump shooting than any previous year. I play All-Star/Sim settings and I'd say a majority of my points come from mid range... You just need to work the ball around to get a good look or if you ARE going to try and go one-on-one, you HAVE to get a perfect release for it to go in

this isn't always true. i play pro/sim and many times my shooters are all alone and wide open, i use the feedback shot and with a perfect release they can't hit the hole, this happen most of the times whith 3pts, i manage mid ranges much better. Btw on sim my fg% is always very low, like final scores....

on default/pro all works pretty well.....i don't know.

I don't like the sim game style, but it's not because of jumpshooting.

I played an all-star/sim game and beat the Blazers 121-116 with the Clippers. I didn't have any trouble scoring jumpers and both teams shooting % was in the high .500s. The turnovers were abhorenly high: 20 something turnovers for me and 30 something for the blazers with Baron Davis setting a franchise record with 12 steals.

I'm thinking of playing my next game on all-star/default and see if there is any difference.

Don't like it either, if "sim" is supposed to replicate what we see in a real NBA game then it's way off - there's more perimeter contact on Sim than there was in the 90's NBA.

You also gotta remember that every game won't be the same...

I have games where I shoot over 50% and score over 100 points and I have games where I shoot under 40% and score in the 70's...

That's what's great about this years 2k, no game is ever the same

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?

I wrote a couple of of blogs on this subject already, so I'll (try to) make this post brief. I liked the Simulation gamestyle in concept initially and thought that it was required if you wanted your stats to match those of the real NBA, but after playing several games on default, I'm seeing that there was no statistical difference for me playing between sim and default other than lower free throw attempts per team. But that's not to say that the free throw attempts were too low at default. It really depends on how the game is going and where the majority of shots are being taken (shots in the paint generate more fouls and free throw opportunities than jump shots for instance).

The way the game was tuned this year, field goal percentages are right on the money anyway without the need to tweak shooting sliders to get that desired effect of true to life field goal percentages. In real life, field goal percentages are based on "lower shooting sliders" anyway. It's based on defensive pressure and presence Defensive intensity and defensive play determine the likelihood of a player's shot going in for most instances.

I would argue that the way the game plays on default is more representative of an actual NBA game than the sim setting is. It's not like in 2K10 where both teams constantly shot in the high 60% range and scores on 12 minute quarters were in 150+ range or that you can lead pass your way to victory even against the best teams. Since none of those things occur on default, I see the sim setting as unnecessary honestly. All it really does it make things more difficult than it has to be just to get the same result in the end.

Re: Am I the only one that just DOESN'T like the sim game style?

I agree, I like a lot of what "sim" setup does EXCEPT punishing open shots. I tried every difficulty/style combination in My Player mode, and pro default was the only one where my teammates (great shooters, all stars) could sometimes make a wide open jumper. pro/sim, they immediately cannot hit any jumper no matter how wide open so I finally caved in. I do not want my games to be all about getting to the rim or passing it inside always for assists. I don't know how people are playing on those other difficulties in this mode, your teammates turn useless. so i just limit my own abilities so i do not get too good for pro default, i just wish they went to the post more like sim does.

now, once I start playing association and custom vs games I'm sure I will come up with my own sliders that are very sim. they key is balance, so you are not forced to go inside or outside if you really need a bucket...just work the ball around to get an open look where ever the defense gives it to you...

what i complaned in every bball game is the few amounts of FTs, in default mode are still not enough, i tried to raise fouls sliders up but can't match what i'd like to see, how do you guys get REAL FT attempts?

I don't why everyone is having so much trouble making shots... I have no problem gettin em' to go in...

I think everyone is expecting EVERY open shot to go in and that's just not realistic...

To the people that are having problems, what have your FG %'s been in your games? If it's in the 40-50% range then that's PERFECT and right where it should be. FEW players shoot over 50% for a season

You probably have real FG% on, and not shot stick.

we are not speaking of every shot, we are speaking of long wide open shots, and that on sim mode are very difficult to realize even with a perfect release is a fact.

                              Hmmm interesting...

I've got a Bulls association goin right now, 4-4 record, All-Star/Sim settings, and I have 4 players shooting over 50% on the season (Rose, Boozer, Deng, Korver). Matter of fact, those four guys are in the top 25 in the league in FG % right now...
