I'm pretty sure the rating will be high, above 9 everywhere except Gamespot maybe 8.0.

    Great read!

Really haven't read a "review" from a vg review site in ages. Those guys usually have most of the article written before they play the game. The best reviews are found on forums like this.

That is definitely not the case w/ the 3 reviews (more to be added as I find them) posted above. I know for a fact, they all have had the game since early last week.

Yet its one week before launch and we still have no demo? Hmm, and here i thought the most important criticism, should come from the gamers themselves. what the hell was i thinking??

I've never seen a review for nba2k that addresses the details I care about. The forums are defintely the true review. Even here it depends on which modes people value.

Got me, I was hoping to see a demo too. But let's stay on topic and talk about the reviews. If they don't interest you, no need to respond or read them.

Re: NBA 2K14 Reviews From Around the Web

GamesRadar vocalized some of the fears I have about making an immediate purchase this year. On one hand, a big reason 2K13 wore me down so quickly was due to my helplessness on defense, so to hear steal attempts don't yield automatic fouls, rotations are a little cleaner, and blocks can actually occur on any type of shot - is good news.

But as GR said, for an off-line gamer, what's going to be new to do in 2K14? I like the idea of playing a version of 2K13 that removed all of its Jay-Z and gold while improving its gameplay, but for the first time since 2003, I'm having a tough time convincing myself those changes are worth $65. The impulsive part of me says I want a new basketball game with my Michigan rookies accounted for (Tim Hardaway Jr., Ray McCallum Jr., Trey Burke) and the Pelicans, but the fiscally responsible part of me is balking at the overwhelming sameness (same Association, MyPlayer, less Classic Teams, banal Euroleague implementation).

The logical part of my brain is leading me to consider stretching GTA V out as far as possible and hope 2K14 on current generation will see a price reduction by November. I'd just have to hope and fight that my NBA fandom wouldn't drive me over the edge beforehand (I say that, now watch me pick it up on release day, ha).

Pretty good reviews thus far, a couple days away from getting my hands on a copy.

Gamesradar's review is just superfluous garbage.

Now, the one from Bleacher Report? That's an actual review.

Heads up, there are a lot of path to greatness spoilers in the Kotaku Review, proceed with caution.

I doubt you will see a price reduction by November. You may see a bunch of used copies showing up though as people return current gen and pick up next gen versions.

                            Kotaku:

I've got to be blunt, by any measure I am objectively bad at simulation-quality basketball, owing to an overall lack of familiarity with how the game is played in real life.

I totally understand your sentiment, I don't think I got through a whole association mode season this past year without simming 75% of the games; there was just nothing new. To hear that this years game is pretty much the same is disheartening to say the least.

There do seem to be some pretty substantial gameplay improvements though and that at the end is what makes the game feel new. For me it's a pretty easy decision cause I play on the PC $33 sounds much nicer than $65. Plus I plan on really diving into making mods this year.

Honestly though if I were on the consoles and was planning on getting a Next Gen system I would wait, no doubt about it.
