Jacory's "I'm actually seeing punts" Heisman set

CHANGES IN BOLD

While I may not be known in the slider community, I have been playing NCAA games for as far as I can remember. I never really played around with the sliders until I joined OS a long time ago. Ever since then, I was never able to focus on the game, and instead I would just mess around with every slider set trying to find the right one. I never was able to get into a dynasty because I was always trying better sliders. I believe they call this slider-itis. I have a severe case.

Fast forward to NCAA 14. I was excited about this one because I could actually invest some time into it. As soon as I picked it up, to OS I went looking for a good slider set. Like everyone else, I've run into the problem of not being able to be stopped on offense...and not being able to stop the CPU on defense. I've literally tried every single set on here, and all of them end up being way too easy. I can pass my way through ever single set and score a touchdown every drive. So.....I came up with my own set. I know most of these slider sets from the 'unknown' rarely get tried, but I encourage people to try these.

Gameplay Options

Offensive Skill: Heisman
Defensive Skill: Heisman
Quarter Length: 8-9 minutes (or user preference)
Game Speed: Slow
Threshold: 65
HFA: OFF

Penalties

Offsides: 100
False Start: 75
Holding: 50
Facemask:50
OPI: 100
DPI: 0
KP/PR: 50
Clipping: 50
IG: 60
RP: 50
RK: 50

Sliders (USER/CPU)

QB Accuracy: 50/50 -- Plays true to ratings
Pass Blocking: 30/40 -- more pressure, more errant throws
WR Catching: 30/35 -- realistic drops
RB Ability: 45/65
Run Blocking: 0/50
Pass Coverage: 15/15
Interceptions: 30/30 -- still see realistic number of picks
Rush Defense: 35/60
Tackling: 45/45 -- no BS broken tackles

Special Team Sliders are pretty much user preference, but I suggest lowering Human FG Accuracy to 0. It's just too easy to make FG's.

Auto Subs are also user preference.

Hopefully people will try these. I really just don't feel any challenge from any of the other sets on here. On all of them, passing is just too easy. I don't like the 95 threshold because I think you will see LB's catch up to RB's. I like being forced to punt on a three and out. It feels GOOD. It feels like football. No more dilly dallying down the field with slants every play. You need to run a good offense and player solid user D to win games.

So please, if other sets are too easy for you, just give these a try. One more game won't hurt anybody!

Hey these look extremely promising I feel like we are in the same boat, I have to work long hours tomorrow and Saturday but I WILL try these and post stats as soon as I get the chance.

Just from looking at them I'd suggest upping Intentional Grounding to 60-75, it keeps pocket passers in the pocket. Otherwise they look good, i'll try them out in a bit

Yeah I always thought the opposite was true...guess I was wrong. Up it a little bit and lemme know how it works.

Another thing, I think it's very important that you try to stop whatever is working for the CPU offense. If the computer is killing you with slant patterns across the middle, control your LB's and cut that off. Same with everything else. If the CPU is consistently going to the flats, run cover two or run man defense and cover the RB yourself. I believe this is true for every slider set on here.

That's one thing I like about this set. I actually have to play smart and think about what I'm doing. Or else I'll go home without a win.

Rushing yards are so low because of too many sacks. Dunno what to do about that. Other than that....

I'm having good games, i upped the user pass block 1 click because even bad teams were getting a lot of pressure, but it might just be me. i really like these so far.

Hey man sometimes a few is all it takes, and like Chaos said bump the IG slider to effect how much The CPU QB will run (but beware because too high can cause Robo Qb)

Now does the slow game speed bother you with the pause it causes on outside runs?

Yeah, IG at 60 (like in your edits) is playing great.. and i may switch to "normal" speed to see if the game still plays the same because the pitch is useless on "slow"

60's a good medium. Not that much. Playing on slow makes plays to develop slower which allows me to play a better user D. You could play on normal, I would assume it doesn't change anything other than the speed of course.

Normal is probably fine. Game speed is just another user preference thing. Use whatever y'all are comfortable with.

Thanks guys for trying these!

Re: Jacory's "I'm actually seeing punts" Heisman set

First game Summary, I was #16 FSU vs #14 UNC It was in Florida I was expecting a close game but that wasn't exactly the case.

Using the most recent update:

Passing

Running with the qb was kind of difficult (which was a good thing because I was averaging about 85 ypg with Jameis Winston) I went 20/30 218 yds 4tds and was sacked 4 times, but I was really about 17 for 20 with 2 sacks, because at the end I trying to pad my stats and threw some bad passes and got sacked a few times, other than that I was able to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, CPU had a decent pass rush, but their coverage wasn't good enough at all (and they dropped a few should-be picks)

Now the CPU on the other hand. . .their starter was 10/25 0tds 0picks, also I sacked him 8 times and he fumbled twice on those sacks, not sure if the heavy pressure was what was causing the bad passes and drops, but they did not at any time threaten me at any given point, but also one thing to point out is most of his incompletions was because of drops or overthrows (kinda weird at 50acc) the most disappointing thing about it was that my coverage was still terrible! The few completions that he did make there would be no defender within 10 yes!

Rushing

Let me start by saying the CPU run game was right on the money UNC had an 88 ovr speed back that ran draws all day out of the shotgun and it was effective against me I really felt that he was a threat every play and hd kept me honest he finished up with 14att 95yds the qb was 14atts for-19 yds and 2 fumbles but as I said before that was from the pass rush and the sacks.

My running game dominated, and it was pretty overpowered My #1 back was 19 car 106yds and 1td qb Jameis Winston rushed for 83 and ran for 2tds and even the third string came in and got 35yds on 5 carries, so overall a 52-0 win vs a team that should have competed much better.

But the thing is even though the score wasn't close at all I don't think you are that far off at all. I think you have one of the best CPU run games on these boards. I think all We need to do is drastically bump the CPU pass block and we would be a bit closer. Don't forget I am playing as FSU my whole D-line is 90+ overall. (Even in real life have a 4+ 5 star defensive lineman) The main problem is the time of possession, I'm going to bump bass block a bit If we could give the CPU a little more time, (and maybe tighten up the CPU pass D a bit) I think we could really have something special here and give it another go after work tomorrow.

BTW I love threshold at 65 I really think you have found a sweet spot!

EDIT:Also I liked that there was a risk in scrambling now and I can't just run for 100 yards a game with my Qb. There are a lot of positives in this set and I think it starts with the threshold.
