EDIT: After reading through some old posts, I decided to edit all coaches settings as recommended by Josh awhile ago. Since I hadn't done that before my previous two games I had posted, I'm going to throw them out as test games and start over. I edited all coaches as follows:
Off Run/Pass Ratio: Left alone
Off Aggression: Minimum of 50
Off Sub Frequency: 50
Def Run/Pass Ratio: 50
Def Aggression: Minimum of 35, maximum of 65
Def Sub Frequency: 50
I'm playing as Mizzou as they're a good test team being a mid/low tier SEC school and a balanced team with both offense and defense in the mid 80s. My non-conference schedule is a mix of competitiveness and home/away and I'll likely play through each game 2-4 times before moving onto the next just to get a decent sample size. Schedule is @ App State, @ Ohio State, vs Iowa and vs Western Michigan.
Game 1:
Mizzou 35, App State 13
First Downs: 19, 13
Offense: 433, 256
Rushing: 34-169-2, 20-48-0
Passing: 20-28-264-1, 23-33-201-1
3rd Down: 11-13, 3-10
Sacks: 4, 3
Turnovers: 3 (2 INT, 1 FUM), 2 (2 INT)
Notes:
- My HB was dominant, especially early on going 23-168-1 with a 67yd TD in the 1st half
- My turnovers were 2 INTS via badly forced passes over the middle and a strip sack fumble
- CPU turnovers were both INTS. One pick-six and the other was a pretty good play by my CB to pick it off and barely get a foot in bounds at the 1yd line
- Had a 35-3 lead at halftime
- I dominated on 3rd down obviously but got pretty lucky with 3-4 of them honestly
- Saw a few "stuck in the mud" animations along with poor man coverage by my secondary; adjusted my coverage to aggressive and don't think it happened since. Will keep an eye on this
Game 2:
Mizzou 26, App St 21
First Downs: 16, 12
Offense: 289, 303
Rushing: 34-143-1, 36-131-2
Passing: 16-22-146-1, 14-20-172-1
3rd Down: 6-13, 3-11
Turnovers: 0, 1 (INT)
Sacks: 2, 6
Notes:
- Obviously a closer and more competitive game; did a bad job getting rid of the ball killing lots of drives
- My RB struggled early but finished 22-155-1 including a 47yd run in the 4th quarter followed by the go-ahead TD
- CPU run game struggled for most of the game but broke 2 20+yd runs, including a 49yd TD
- I had 14 TFLs (12 not counting the sacks); CPU QB struggled running the option and didn't pitch it a few times when he should have; CPU runners also didn't cut upfield enough and opted for more east-west than I'd like to see
- CPU took the lead with ~4 minutes left but I drove down and scored a TD to take a 26-21 lead (failed 2pt) with 1:59 left
- CPU playcall was a bit questionable on the next drive - ran a draw on 3rd and 12 then threw to a shallow crossing route on 4th and 10 and was stopped a few yards short of the marker after breaking a tackle
Game 3:
Mizzou 21, App St 41
First Downs: 20, 12
Offense: 393, 274
Rushing: 26-55-1, 37-86-2
Passing: 23-37-338-1, 14-15-188-0
3rd Down: 4-10, 7-13
Turnovers: 7 (all INTS), 1 (FUM)
Sacks: 4, 7
- Game was played in the rain
- Horrendous QB play for me obviously; threw 3 pick-sixes and all the INTs were awful passes, either late or forced, sometimes both; took too many sacks as well
- I wasn't able to get much going on the ground and had to throw a lot in the 2nd half as I was down 35-14 midway through the 3rd after throwing back-to-back pick-sixes, including one for 99yds
- One of my TDs came on a kickoff return via supersim
- My defense wasn't great overall but was able to hold the CPU to a couple of field goals
- Honestly it was kinda cool to be punished for making bad throws but the 3 pick-sixes were a bit of a fluke
