    UT2K

Utility Tool Kit for NHL 2K

Find the official home of UT2K, the NHL2K10 and NHL2K11 roster editor by snowdrift & nikethebike at http://playnhl.tk or https://playnhltk.wordpress.com.

This is a spreadsheet exporter/importer for use with NHL2K10 and NHL2K11 roster files.

The toolkit also includes tools to make it possible to import entire leagues and seasons into the game based on csv file exports of real player and team statistics in just one click.

This all started when snowdrift wrote a very simple Windows utility (command-line only) for NHL2K10 that exports player attributes from a roster file to a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can then be edited and imported again to update player names, positions, player types and gameplay attributes. The original release and additional info is available here.

Snowdrift later on shared his work with nikethebike that kept on developing the tool and added NHL2K11/2KHS support aswell as possibility to edit a lot more than the original release could.
At the current moment this release can be considered to be experimental. It has possibility to actually edit also values that are not yet found out what they do, therefor using the tools should be done with care and backups should be taken of all edited files.

There is also an extremely limited amount of documentation on the usage of the tools, but an example can be found inside the imports folder. Feel free to ask questions and help eachother out by documenting usage here in the forum.

Now Edit and Play NHL Two K!

Disclaimer: ABSOLUTELY ALL USAGE OF THESE TOOLS ARE DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Thank you so much! Just two things... how am I supposed to change things such as country of origin and date of birth? For the roster I'm working on, that is the most important thing I need to know. And, is there a way to change player IDs? One of the players I'm replacing, Loui Eriksson, was born in Sweden and is even on their national team. However, the player I'm replacing was 🎵BORN IN THE USA!🎵

Birth country can't be changed yet. The way it is stored seems to be offset based or something, like the player names. Haven't figured it out yet. Date of birth is in the exported spreadsheet.

Feel free to write tutorials and stuff to help eachother out. I had planned to do it but gave up. I realized it is better to just get it out so you can try it. I have not tested my changes on 2K10 yet so I appreciate feedback.

I see how things are with the country.

I've since tweaked the 12/26/20 PS3 rosters a bit more. There had been mention of correcting the problem with overloaded minor league teams where they do not allow you to simply release guys or move up to the major league team. It has to be a trade or nothing. Specifically, it's typically they get loaded over 27 players and then it locks it up. I know at least 1 team where it's only an overload of defensemen in the minor league affiliate (NYR).

I was hoping that if I could post the teams that are problematic and if someone could take a look at this, and correct it and get the file back to me for testing or if you have a PS3, test it yourself?

Got a chance to use the program and exported a few csvs.a project of mine is to start a fresh x360 roster file with no overloaded teams. It is going to take a significant amount of time should I follow through but this will drastically help. I look forward to some time when my 21 month old is asleep to look at the program and the extracts later

The magic happens inside the imports folder and "run.bat". Look inside the base subfolder where I have put a base csv compatible with a standard roster to be able to map new players automatically to the teams.

In order to try and fix this without starting over from a clean roster file my suggestion is that you convert players to goalkeepers with the editor, then try promoting them to the NHL team from the minors in the game. The editor does not have a trade feature.

Not working or I'm doing something wrong (btw, your example noted in the field seems to imply to include "USERDATA" as part of the address, but all that does is close the application. Had to NOT include that term.

Tried to import my x360 2k10 file and every time I look at rosters, every player I have edited their name shows up as ?.???. Original players like Getzlaf shows up fine. Only variables changed are names and birthdates. Returned everything to original names and dates and stlll the same

                        Re: UT2K

Ok, it is possible it doesn't work with 2K10 fully yet since it has never really been tested with it for a long while. I was hoping the games would work pretty much identical.

When it comes to the importing it either is due to how names are stored or something else. My suggestion is that you restart your export from a 100% working save. This is important, when you screw a save up never try to fix it. You should throw away the corrupted file and restart from the working backup you did before importing.

After you made the export, clean up the csv file in something like excel and remove all "o"-columns. There is a chance these offsets are different in some way on 2K10 so we should eliminate that factor.

Then make a change and import. Tell me the result.

Tough thing now is to figure out where it went wrong. But you say an XBOX360 save can be exported to csv but not a PS3 save?

I think you need the userdata path on ps3 aswell. Perhaps it needs to be exported/extracted? I don't know how it works really. What exactly happened when trying to use that?

I have 2K10 running in RPCS3 now so perhaps I can do some debugging with it myself if I get some time to spare. But as you know 2K11/2KHS has been my priority. Since I don't play 2K10 at all this would just be for your sake and this isn't exactly my day job...

Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to export csv from a previous save and it worked fine in game. I’ll try to edit a birthday or two and see how that works. From initial review, I didn’t find any other changes. I’ll try to experiment later this week. I remember the goalie gear causing an issue so maybe I hit something with the gear. I’ll report back if I have any other issues. Thanks for taking some time to answer.

Okay so, working with a default 2k10 x360 file here is what I did:
                              1. Overwrote James Wisniewski with Hampus Lindholm
                              2. Attributes changed --> imported into game, no issues.
                              3. Edited the birth year from from 1984 to 1990
                              4. Updated ROS file--> imported into game-->Corruption

What I edited - any issues:
                              1. Name change - no issues
                              2. Attribute import - no issues
                              3. Removing O-values with new attributes - no issue
                              4. Editing birth year - complete file corruption (see below)
4a. Editing birth year with removing o-values - complete file corruption (see below)

                              Findings:
                              In all cases:
                              a. Ryan Getzlaf is the only person to have his name show in game. Every other player is ?.???

When birth year was just edited (with and without o-values)
                              b. Birth date didn't change in game when changed- still shows as 1984
                              c. Dallas Stars just show up as "STARS" or "RI STARS" or some variant
                              D. The blues display as "RI Blues" "EK Blues" or some variant
